TMZ reports: Producers of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” have figured out a way to fill the shoes NeNe Leakes … and it starts with the first transgender on the show. TMZ has learned … Amiyah Scott will join the cast next season. Amiyah is a model who was born Arthur and began her transformation 10 years ago when she was 17. Amiyah has been romantically linked to a number of rappers. The show is also adding Kim Fields from “Facts of Life.” Remember all the outrage Amiyah got for posing with her friend Chad Ochocinco ??? Gloria Steinem Admits That Black Women Invented Feminism In a recent interview with Black Enterprise , feminist journalist and activist Gloria Steinem had some refreshing things to say about Black women’s progressive history in the fight for gender equality. Via Good Black News : “I thought that [Black women] invented the feminist movement…I learned feminism disproportionately from Black women. ” Steinem explained that in earlier years, surveys showed that African American women were twice as vocal and biased towards feminist issues and beliefs as their White counterparts. She also spoke on her personal practice of giving the floor to other young women (whether or not they self-identify as feminists) to address concerns for people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds. If she is challenged by younger Black women who say that feminism doesn’t speak to them, Steinem says: “I don’t say anything. I listen because the point is that we help each other to get dignity and autonomy and freedom. We’re here to help each other.” Steinem has a history of working with Black feminists. In 1972, Steinem founded Ms. Magazine with Dorothy Pitman-Hughes, the author and child welfare advocate. Steinem was also affiliated with the deceased lawyer Flo Kennedy and worked alongside Alice Walker, making Walker one of the earliest Black editors at Ms. The famous feminist spoke on the issues of police brutality as well, noting the importance of equally employing women in the police force to calm racially tense situations. “[W]e haven’t been raise with our masculinity to prove. All the studies show that if a woman cop arrives on the scene, she de-escalates the situation by her presence and a man cop escalates. Carrier Pigeon Caught Trying To Smuggle Drugs Into Prison Prison guards in Costa Rica caught a pigeon with a bag of drugs attached to its chest in a bizarre attempt to smuggle drugs to inmates. Via Boston News Times : Officers at La Reforma prison captured it with 14g of cocaine and 14g of cannabis stuffed into a black pouch which camouflaged against its dark feathers. They have previously caught other animals such as cats and iguanas trying to transport drugs into the prison in San Rafael de Alajuela, local websites have reported. The guards spotted the bird on Tuesday afternoon as it flew towards an open area of the medium security La Reforma prison, Teletica reported. Prison director Paul Bertozzi said: ‘They observed the bulge on the animal so they captured it and confirmed that it carried a bag with zipper – and the drugs were inside… It seems the dove was trained for it.’ The pigeon was examined by experts at the ZooAve Animal Rescue Centre who said the bag it was carrying caused some damage to its digestive system. Reports from Costa Rica suggest it will be kept in quarantine for at least 40 days because they believe it will return to where it came from if they release it. The head of the centre was ‘stunned’ by the incident and said it would be well looked after at the centre. The prison is now investigating who was responsible for the drug-smuggling attempt. Paul Bertozzi added: ‘We have a warning that this method can be used again as it is not the first time in the history of La Reforma that a pigeon was detected with drugs.’ Move that dope by any means necessary! ‘Training Day’ Gets Turned Into Television Series Looks like “ Uncle Denzel ” might be back on the come up. A new series is being created based on the 2001 crime thriller, and it’s slated for network television. Via Variety : CBS is producing a pilot based on the 2001 movie “Training Day,” in which Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke starred, Variety has learned. The television adaptation is set in the LAPD of 2015, with the series picking up 15 years after the events of the Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures film. The original “Training Day” movie director Antoine Fuqua is behind the television series, attached as director and exec producer. Fuqua is teaming with Jerry Bruckheimer who will exec produce, alongside Jonathan Littman (“CSI” franchise, “The Amazing Race”). Will Beall (“Gangster Squad,” “Castle”), a former LAPD detective, will pen the pilot, also serving as an exec producer. Hmmm…Training Day seems a bit too gritty to end up on CBS. But maybe they’ll surprise us! Will you be watching???
3 More Women Accuse Bill Cosby Of Drugging And Sexual Assault It ain’t over yet… Via PageSix Three more accusers came forward Wednesday and detailed lurid sexual allegations against Bill Cosby, including one who said the comedian gave her drugged champagne from a shoe. Former flight attendant Colleen Hughes said during an LA press conference that Cosby poured the spiked drink into a Gucci shoe and gave it to her as they met in a hotel room before going to dinner in the 1970s in Beverly Hills. “A princess should always drink champagne out of a glass slipper,” Cosby allegedly told her. Will the REAL “Champagne Papi” please stand up. When she awoke later, Hughes said the hotel room was empty, her clothes were strewn all over the room, she was in a daze, and was shocked to find that there was “semen in the small of my back and all over.” Also at the press conference, former actress Linda Ridgeway said Cosby forced her to perform oral sex on him while she was interviewing for a part in a movie. “His penis was out of his pants and he shoved it into my mouth,” Ridgeway said. Eden Tirl, a former model, was guest-starring as a police officer on “The Cosby Show” in 1989 when she said Cosby attacked her in his dressing room. The women were speaking at a press conference arranged by attorney Gloria Allred, who represents 21 of the more than 40 women who have come forward in the past year accusing Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. It’s her money riiiiight? $188 Million Lottery Winner Blasted For Posting Fiance’s Bail The 26-year-old mother of four who won $188 million in the lottery and was praised for seemingly planning to use it on her child with cerebral palsy, is now getting blasted. Marie Holmes is currently the subject of criticism for bailing her fiance, an accused drug dealer allegedly caught with 8,000 bags of heroin, out of jail not once—but TWICE. Via WWavy TV 3: The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed WWAY’s earlier FIRST ON 3 report that a man in jail under $6 million bond has been released from the Brunswick County Jail. Lamarr McDow has been in jail since deputies arrested him July 23 for allegedly violating the curfew requirements of his pre-trial release. Deputies arested McDow at the Shallotte home he shares with Marie Holmes. Prosecutors say Holmes, who won a $188 million Powerball jackpot in February, was behind McDow’s release on $3 million bond in March just weeks after she won the jackpot. A Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman says a bondsman posted today’s bond for McDow, who was released with a GPS monitoring device. Bondsmen do not have to reveal who paid them to post bond, but Holmes apparently responded to criticism from readers on our Facebook page. “What Y’all need to be worried about is Y’all money and not how I spend mine this is benefitting Y’all how? And no he’s no drug dealer or user but who are Y’all to judge anybody? I will definitely pray for Y’all because it’s much need…they talked about Jesus so I’m not surprised Y’all are talking about me but be blessed though,” read a comment from Holmes’s Facebook account on a post about McDow’s release. McDow, who goes by the street name “Hot Sauce” was one of three suspects arrested in November 2014 as part of a year-long investigation. He was charged with crimes including trafficking heroin and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin. The investigation stemmed from an incident in July in the Shallotte area when more than 8,000 bags of heroin was seized. McDow’s criminal history includes convictions for assault on a female, assault and several counts of drug possession dating back to 2000. Holmes, 26, walked away with nearly $88 million after taking the lump sum and paying taxes on her mid-February Powerball win. She and several other people were charged with drug possession after a search of the home after deputies smelled marijuana when they came to get McDow. Investigators also charged him for possession of a firearm by a felon after finding a gun in the house during their search. Not that we’re counting anyone’s coins buuuuuuuuut $9 million on bail seems wasteful. What do YOU think??? Fair or foul???
Kim Fields Got Cut From RHOA For Being Too Boring It looks like RHOA is really shaking things up in time for the season 8 premiere in a couple months. Just days after it was announced former housewife Sheree Whitfield and Marlo Hampton were getting peaches, a new star was announced to be joining the hit Bravo reality show. Former ‘Living Single’ star Kim Fields was also in the running to be the newest housewife on RHOA but it looks like the TV star has already gotten the boot for being too dry for the show! Via Straight From The A : Ok, before I get into all the drama of this past weekend, let me start by saying that Kim Fields has officially been eliminated from the RHOA casting pool. My sources have confirmed that Fields taped with several of the cast over the past month, but she was referred to as being ‘too dry’ in every scene. Apparently Fields chose the reserved approach and ‘Housewives’ clearly isn’t the place for that. That being said, Kim Fields won’t be joining this season, but Nene’s departure clearly lifted the invisible ban that was blocking both Sheree Whitfield and Marlo Hampton’s return. Marlo is returning as a ‘friend of the show,’ and I’ve heard she will make several appearances alongside Kenya Moore, who needs a friend now that Claudia Jordan is gone. We have a feeling that Kim will probably look back at this and be grateful for not appearing on the drama filled reality show….
