Important Matters Of Business: Chance The Rapper Is On A Mission Bring Back Wendy’s Spicy Nuggets

Source: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin / Getty Chance The Rapper Really Wants Some Spicy Nuggets Chance the Rapper has done his part to help many different communities throughout his career, but his biggest achievement yet might be the work he’s doing for the spicy-nugget-lovers of the world. The rapper let off a tweet on Saturday about his positive affirmations, ending his aspirations with, “Wendy’s WILL bring back spicy nuggets at some point please please Lord let it be today.” Positive Affirmations for today: I WILL have a good day, I Will succeed today, Wendy’s WILL bring back spicy nuggets at some point please please Lord let it be today. — Chance The Rapper Album in July (@chancetherapper) May 4, 2019 A lot of people immediately related to this tweet because, let’s be honest, Wendy’s has always killed the spicy chicken game. We can all act bougie with our Chick-Fil-A like no other fast food exists, but that red-headed lil girl knows how to make some good nuggets. At first, things were looking grim as the Wendy’s Twitter account responded by saying there was a chance for the spicy nugget return, but it wouldn’t be today. It won’t be today, but there’s always a chance — Wendy's (@Wendys) May 4, 2019 Our dreams were restored, however, once they tweeted out a challenge to their followers. 2 million likes and Wendy’s brings back their spicy nuggets. Y’all keep asking, so here’s your chance. The people in charge say if you guys can get our tweet (this one right here) to 2 Million likes, they will bring SPICY CHICKEN NUGGETS BACK. Let’s freakin’ do this! https://t.co/qrtvWXjj9V — Wendy's (@Wendys) May 4, 2019 Chance continued with the positive affirmations by telling us all to like the tweet, and so far, over 1.2 million people have done just that–more than halfway to victory! Postive Affirmations for the day: You WILL like this tweet. https://t.co/6jW7Yg3xwj — Chance The Rapper Album in July (@chancetherapper) May 4, 2019 Though this sort of thing is obviously really trivial, it’s hilarious to see Chance The Rapper and Wendy’s lovers to come together for one common good: spicy nuggets. Also, a fast food joint running a campaign about how a rapper is the reason they’re bringing a menu item back is gonna be pretty hilarious. If you have taste and you’re a spicy nugget connoisseur, go “like” that tweet and join the movement. Thank you, Chance.

Race Matters: Chase Employees Under Fire For Calling The Cops On The Mayor Of Mount Vernon

Source: Lars Niki / Getty Mount Vernon Mayor Says He Was Racially Profiled By Bank Employees The Mayor of Mount Vernon, New York , Richard Thomas, blasted Chase bank employees this week  for allegedly racially profiling him at a branch in White Plains. Mayor Thomas held a press conference on Monday, April 29, to denounce the actions of JP Morgan Chase workers for calling the police on him a week earlier. According to Thomas, he was at the bank along with his chief of staff and a Mount Vernon Police detective as Thomas sought access to Mount Vernon’s online banking records. “The response by the White Plains Police Department was resolved amicably after one of the responding officers recognized the Mount Vernon Police detective,” press advisor Lou Migliore stated, according to Westchester News 12. “Mayor Thomas believes that race played a role in the Chase employees calling the police. The two staffers who accompanied Mayor Thomas are Black and Hispanic.” The mayor continued to fume during a press conference Monday afternoon and called the bank’s actions unacceptable. “As a mayor and as a young, well-educated black man living during this turbulent time in society where police are being called on black people for going about everyday life, this is unacceptable,” Thomas wrote in a letter to Chase CEO Jamie Dimon. “We’ve seen this happen to two black men at a Starbucks in Philadelphia. We’ve also seen this happen to Oregon Rep. Janelle Bynum while she was campaigning. Now it happened to me.” Thomas also said that he filed a formal complaint with Chase over the incident. “We’ve seen a situation happen where the police are called on people of color, particularly Black people, for no apparent reason,” he continued during the press conference. “And one person said he has a gun, and it was kind of like, ‘What? What?’ Because when we came we announced who we were. We made it clear that the mayor travels with security for security purposes.” A representative from JP Morgan Chase responded to the criticsm and denied that Thomas was racially profiled. The bank countered by saying one of the employees saw a plainclothes detective with a firearm on him but did not know he was a police officer. “Our staff acted appropriately,” responded bank spokesperson Joseph Evangelisti. Thomas denies any claims that he and his staff caused a disturbance and that his detective never brandished his gun.

SMH: Documents Reveal That BART Cops Lied About The Details Of Oscar Grant Shooting & Instigated The Altercation

Source: Mark Boster / Getty New Report Proves Officer Lied About Details Of Oscar Grant Shooting According to CNN , a newly released report reveals even more disturbing details about the murder of Oscar Grant, an unarmed black man who was fatally shot by a police officer more than 10-years ago. On New Year’s Day 2009, 22-year-old Oscar Grant was pulled off a train by Bay Area Rapid Transit(BART) officers who were responding to reports of a fight on public transportation. Grant was struck multiple times and forced to lie face down on the Fruitvale train platform. Moments later, officer Johannes Mehserle shot him in the back. Mehserle claimed the shooting was “unintentional”, and that he meant to draw his taser and not his gun. A jury convicted Mehserle on an involuntary manslaughter charge and he spent roughly seven months behind bars. The incident also resulted in the termination of Anthony Pirone, a former BART officer who was accused of trying to conceal the details surrounding Grant’s murder. Pirone was one of the first officers to encounter Grant at Fruitvale BART Station on the night of the shooting. Witnesses described him as a “crazy cop,” and claimed he had screamed racial slurs at Grant shortly before Mehserle opened fire. Pirone reportedly told authorities he was “fighting for his life” after Grant allegedly kneed him in the groin; however, a bystander’s video of the incident did not support the ex-officer’s claims. “None of this appears to have happened during the video,” investigators wrote in the report. An autopsy report also revealed Grant had suffered a hemorrhage during the incident, after he was kneed in the head—a detail Pirone failed to disclose to authorities. “Pirone used force against Grant as a first resort and even then the use of force … did not appear reasonable, justifiable or excusable,” the report stated. “[Pirone’s] willful and reckless conduct … endangered the safety of the public.” New details from a 144-page report completed by Meyers Nave Law Firm, which led BART’s internal investigation into the shooting, show inconsistencies in the stories. “The reports clearly show that because of the officers not deescalating a situation, but escalating a situation, my son is not here today,” Grant’s mother, Wanda Johnson, KRON4. “The people on the platform, you know, still, 10 years later, having to play that in their minds, over and over and over, unnecessarily.”

Source: Rich Polk / Getty Anthony Mackie Says He And Chris Evans Cried Over Avengers Ending *SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet–stop reading immediately* One of the biggest moments of Avengers: Endgame  happened at the very end, when we learn about Steve Rogers’ fate–which concludes with him handing off his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Even though Wilson eventually becomes Captain America in the comic books, Mackie says that he still didn’t expect the transition to happen on-screen–he wasn’t even aware of his own future until his co-star Chris Evans informed him. “We were at his house and he goes, ‘You excited?’ And I go, ‘What you talking about? And he goes, ‘You don’t know?’ He jumps up, runs out of the room and comes back in with the script. He’s like, ‘Read it!’” Mackie continued, “And I read the scene, and I’m like, ‘Whoa,’…We cried. We drank. We laughed. I am very happy I got that moment with Chris, for him to not only pass me the shield, but to tell me it was happening.” Hear the full story and more from Anthony Mackie below:

His movie, Burning Cane , took home the award, which was shot when he was only a 17-year-old in high school! I’m happy that  Burning Cane is going to be seen.” He continued: “I’m happy that it resonated with people, and that it’s from my voice. I didn’t have to compromise anything. I’d say that’s the most validating aspect of it. This is a film that I wanted to make. People who believed in me were willing to work well below industry rates to help me do it, and my creative voice, my creative instincts were good enough.” Filmmaker extraordinaire, Ava DuVernay , congratulated Youmans in a tweet, writing, “The brother is just 19 years old. He wrote, directed, shot and edited his film while in high school. And he just won big at Tribeca. Can’t wait to see BURNING CANE.” The brother is just 19 years old. D’Angelo Russell Gains Support After Getting Stopped At LaGuardia For Stashing Weed In An Iced Tea Can

Source: Eugene Powers/WENN.com / WENN D’Angelo Russel Stopped At LaGuardia For Weed Possession D’Angelo Russell was coming back from Louisville when he was stopped at LaGuardia Airport by authorities, according to TMZ . The baller ended up being flagged due to a suspicious can of Arizona Iced Tea. When authorities went to search it, they found marijuana stashed away inside. Fortunately for D’Angelo, he didn’t end up getting into too much trouble, as he was simply cited for possession of marijuana (under 50 grams). After the citation, Russell was told he could leave. Since the incident, the Nets issued a statement on the incident saying “We have been made aware of the situation involving D’Angelo Russell and are in the process of gathering more information at this time.” Even though others online and in the media choose to make fun of Russell for his little mishap, others are actually offering him their support. Among those who are standing by Russell’s side is former NBA player Stephen Jackson, who has become an advocate for marijuana during his retirement. Jackson took to Instagram to send a message to Russell, explaining how he should have been smarter and in general, weed shouldn’t be so heavily stigmatized. Florida Wild: Man Fires Gun At Teens To Get Them To Leave Community Pool

Source: boonchai wedmakawand / Getty Are folks just shooting guns all willy nilly in Florida now? A 66-year old man is facing aggravated assault charges after firing his gun at two juveniles and an adult who wouldn’t leave the community pool.  Richard Marcelle approached the young people, saying that the pool was closed and they needed to leave, despite the fact that the pool was still open. After realizing that the pool was open until 10pm, and it was 9pm when Marcelle approached them, the victims approached the man and told him that they were going to stay because the pool was still open. But Marcelle wasn’t having it. He blocked the victims as they tried to get back into the pool area and then fired a small revolver-style handgun at the soil. Capt. Christopher Roos, with the Ormond Beach Police Department says there are no signs that the trio was doing anything illegal. He added, “[Marcelle] is a member of the HOA and the HOA did actually change the pool hours. However, they hadn’t notified the homeowner’s association members yet or posted it. The video definitely shows him holding a handgun, and you can see where it looks like a round fires off into the ground and you can see the dust from the ground kicks up at the same time.” Thanks to surveillance video at the club house, police identified Marcelle as a suspect in the case. Footage also showed that the victims were unarmed and posed no threat to the man. Marcelle has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a gun.
