The comedian became the talk of Twitter and the internet as a whole after a 2011 clip of HBO’s Talking Funny resurfaced. In the video, Chris Rock is joined by fellow comedians Ricky Gervais, Louis C.K. and Jerry Seinfeld, who all end up discussing the use of the “N-word.” Things escalate quickly as both Gervais and C.K. start to casually throw around the racial slur without a care in the world, as Rock joins in and laughs along with them. Source: AAron Ontiveroz / Getty Ref That Forced Kid To Cut Locks Before Wrestling Match Is Currently Suspended Pending An Investigation According to NBC , the New Jersey referee that forced a high-school wrestler to cut his dreadlocks right before a match has been barred from further officiating pending an investigation into the incident. The Buena Regional High School student was told at a match that his hair and headgear were not compliant with regulation and would have to instantly cut his locks or forfeit the round, according to a statement Friday from the Buena Regional School District. Video of the student having his hair cut while in tears went viral after it was circulated on social media the following day. The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association released a statement that said it would recommend the referee to not officiate any matches until a review could be completed. “Regulations regarding hair length and legal hair covers for wrestlers are provided by the National Federation of State High School Associations,” the statement read. “At this point, the NJSIAA is working to determine the exact nature of the incident and whether an infraction occurred.” No-loc bans are designed to oppress and shame Black people not just for expressing Blackness, but *for* their Blackness. Source: ugurhan / Getty 19-Year-Old Crashes After Driving Drunk Following 12 Drinks At A Bar A Texas teenager accused of causing a fatal car accident that killed a young mother allegedly consumer 12 drinks before he got behind the wheel, according to multiple reports. 23-year-old Taylor Phillips was killed on Sunday night after Erick Hernandez, 19, allegedly crashed into her SUV. Hernandez allegedly crossed three lanes of traffic while driving drunk before the collision, the Houston Chronicle along with local stations KPRC and ABC13 report. Hernandez has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. On Wednesday, prosecutors allegedly said that a video from inside a bar showed Hernandez consuming 12 drinks, which included three tequila shots, over the course of six hours before he got into his truck to drive off. He was allegedly never asked for his ID despite being underage, which is how he recieved so many drinks. Five employees of the bar— four bartenders and one manager — were arrested for allegedly serving the teenager alcohol. Court documents obtained by the outlets show that the bar allegedly didn’t even have a liquor license and was only allowed to serve beer and wine at their facility. “Literally one minute after he left (the bar), he took the life of Ms. Phillips,” explained Sean Teare, Chief of the Vehicular Crimes Division in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, according to reports from KPRC. “Right now there are Christmas presents under a tree for a mother who will never open them, a child who will never know his mother because of the irresponsible actions of all six individuals charged in this tragedy.” Philips’s mother, Carmen Rainer, told ABC13 on the night of the crash the Philips, her mother, and her 1-year-old son were driving home after a weekend of visiting family in New Orleans. Hernandez appeared in court on Wednesday and is now out of jail on a $30,000 bond. It is unclear whether he has an attorney and he has not entered a plea.

Thu Tran reportedly worked as an accountant for the charitable organization beginning in 2014 until she was fired July 9, 2018. Tran claims in earlier this year, she complained to a member of the board of directors about “suspected misappropriate of funds, diversion of charitable assets, and other fraudulent conduct.” In her lawsuit she says she believed Valerie Ervin( president of the foundation) “had engaged in suspicious financial transactions related to a vehicle purchase, travel expenses, and home improvement, among others matters.” This is when Tran claims that Ervin “began to systematically strip away” her job duties and excluded her from board meeting she had previously attended regularly. Tran claims she was also kept out of “financial and tax audit meetings”. Tran believes that in “an effort to avoid unwanted attention and embarrassment of a possible investigation into misappropriation of funds and assets,” Ervin got rid of several employees of the foundation before ultimately firing her. Tran is suing the foundation and Ervin, claiming wrongful termination and other workplace-related violations. She is seeking unspecified damages. Continue reading →

Calling the bill “an incredible success for our country” and “beyond bipartisan” during an Oval Office signing ceremony, the proposed legislation will give judges more discretion when sentencing some drug offenders and will boost prisoner rehabilitation efforts In a rare instance of both Democratic and Republican lawmakers agreeing on a similar issue, all agreed that the signing was a hugely influential package and thanked the president for supporting the issue and uniting conservatives and liberals. While the reform legislation was considered a success, the House and Senate adjourned Friday night as negotiations continued between White House and congressional leaders over border wall funding. This guarantees a partial government shutdown at midnight when 25% of federal government funding is set to lapse.

The girl was on the phone with a dispatcher on Tuesday night when the operator reportedly heard someone say the words “you called 911” and “blow your head off,” according to the police report obtained by ABC News . After that, the operator heard a loud bang and some screams that indicated someone had died. The daughter, identified by KIRO 7 as Natalie Gulizia, was shot in the head by mother Svetlana Laurel, according to the Renton Police Department. The slaying took place at the Renton home of Laurel’s former husband Michael Gulizia, who had custody of Natalie. Michael Gulizia had returned to the home with his daughter to find his ex-wife, who had tied up their 12-year-old son. Natalie then went upstairs to try to call for help, but was still being followed by her mother. Michael Gulizia told police he heard “the sound of a single gunshot” upstairs, according to KOMO News. Investigators say that Laurel went back downstairs and tried to shoot her ex-husband. “The gun failed to fire, with Svetlana struggling to clear the malfunction in the pistol,” read court documents. Michael Gulizia then “rammed Svetlana into the wall with his shoulder, and was able to grab the pistol.” Michael Gulizia held his ex-wife until police arrived on the scene. Natalie’s body was found upstairs. Svetlana Laurel has been charged with first-degree murder.
