Why can’t Oscar get right? Oscar De La Hoya Heads Back To Rehab For Second Time There has to be a support group for two-time losers like Oscar. Life has given him everything, but he’d rather dress in women’s clothes and keep relapsing. According to US Weekly Oscar De La Hoya is seeking help once again for a substance abuse problem. The retired boxer, 40, announced on Tuesday, Sept. 10, that he had returned to rehab and would miss this weekend’s big fight between Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez, which he had been promoting through his company, Golden Boy Promotions. “Canelo Alvarez and I have big fights coming up this weekend. His is in the ring and mine in treatment,” De La Hoya said in a statement. “I will not be at the fight to cheer Canelo to victory since I have voluntarily admitted myself to a treatment facility.” He continued: “I explained this to Canelo, and he understood that my health and long-term recovery from my disease must come first. Thank you for your understanding. I ask for your support during this difficult time and for me and my family.” The former 10-time world title winner — nicknamed The Golden Boy — did not specify the nature of his substance abuse but has admitted in the past to being an alcoholic and using yayo. In a 2012 interview with Dr. Drew Pinsky, he confessed that he had started drinking when he was just 8 years old. “I’ve been in there with the best fighters on the planet,” he told Dr. Drew. “I’ve been able to capture a gold medal and world title and this and that, but this is the toughest fight of my life, you know?” Hopefully he gets his life together.
Crazy. Man Admits To Killing Mother Of His Children What type of man shoots the mother of his children in front of them? According to Mail Online A father killed the mother of his children while visiting his toddler son on his birthday. Travis Baker, 34, of Middlesex, VA., showed up at the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office Sunday just after 5pm. Between hysterical bouts of crying, he confessed to shooting Wendy BIllups, 33, in the head when she turned him away, causing him to ‘snap,’ – in front of their children. Ms Billups had two young children with Mr Baker, reportedly her long-time boyfriend. They are both now in protective custody, according to WTVR. Ms Billups moved into the house, in Saluda, VA., she was killed in just last week, family members told WAVY. She moved there to escape Mr Baker, who allegedly abused her for a long time, family members told the station. ‘When she tried to get out of the relationship, he didn’t want to get out,’ cousin Percy Lockley said, ‘he took matters into his own hands and killed her.’ Officials told WTVR that Mr Baker wanted to visit his young son, when Ms Billups asked him to leave he ‘snapped and shot her in the head.’ Mr Baker said he fired two bullets into his childrens’ mother as they watched, the official added. ‘How can anybody in their right mind do something like that,” Billups’ cousin Tonia Washington asked WAVY. ‘This is like your worst nightmare, you could never imagine this happening to anybody.’ Family and friends have planned a candlelight vigil for Wednesday evening, according to a Facebook page set up to organize the event. Barker has been charged with first degree murder and a few other related weapons charges, he is in custody. Wow. That sound you hear is the cheering of hairy-footed Tolkien addicts everywhere. At 11:30 a.m. Monday morning, the lord of The Lord of the Rings franchise Peter Jackson confirmed via his Facebook page that The Hobbit would indeed be a trilogy. “It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made,” Jackson wrote. “Recently Fran [Walsh], Phil [Boyens] and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie — and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘yes.'” “We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance,” Jackson continued. “The richness of the story of The Hobbit , as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings , allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.” You could almost hear trumpets sounding when Jackson added: “So, without further ado and on behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, and the entire cast and crew of “The Hobbit” films, I’d like to announce that two films will become three. It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, “a tale that grew in the telling.” Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
She does kinda have a point… Tameka Foster’s Friend Defends Her Against Accusations According to RadarOnline Following a tragic lake accident on Friday that left Tameka Raymond’s 11-year-old son brain dead, a close friend of Usher’s ex-wife has opened up exclusively to RadarOnline.com about how she is coping with the devastating situation. “I’ve seen celebs and media outlets alike continue to send their condolences to Usher. Kile was Tameka and Ryan Glover’s child and the sympathy should be given to them first and foremost,” Tameka’s associate told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “Although Usher has been so kind in chartering a plane so she could be by Kile’s side, he didn’t necessarily play a huge role in Tameka’s other children’s lives after the divorce therefore it seems a little disrespectful that Ryan is being ignored as a father, in place of another just because he’s topping the Billboard charts. “Ryan was equally devoted and involved in Kile’s life — they shared joint custody and Kile was with his other family at the lake, so for those who are claiming Tameka’s at fault for not being there is just absurd — because of the joint custody, her two boys aren’t always directly in her eyesight, but she is a phenomenal mother.” Tameka’s irritated friend goes on to say: “Tameka is heartbroken. Kile was one of the loves of her life — she adored him. The last time I spoke to her she was going on and on about his fifth grade graduation. She used to call him her most helpful child and would gush about how smart he was,” the friend said. “This incident was just so random — there should never have been a jet ski that close to an inner tube with two young kids, it just doesn’t make sense.” Fashion stylist Tameka, 44, had two children with Altanta-based clothier Glover before she married Usher in August 2007, and went on to have two children, Usher V, 4, and Naviyd, 3, with him. Their divorce was finalized in November 2009 and they are currently embroiled in a bitter custody battle. Struggling to let go of her beloved Kile, “My only hope is that Tameka’s spirituality and devotion to God will help her pull through this ineffable moment in her life, and bring some comfort,” her friend told RadarOnline.com. “This is a woman who lost the man of her dreams, her reputation and now her son within the course of four years. My heart goes out to her. Nobody deserves this pain. “Perhaps the comment boards that continued to spew venom at a woman they had never met will put the breaks on their misdirected anger and hate and finally give her some peace. She definitely needs it.” We are continually hoping and praying for Tameka, Ryan, Kile, and the Foster/Glover family. Image via SplashNews
Reports Reveal Joe Paterno And Penn State Leaders “Concealed Critical Facts” Related To Sandusky Abuse SMH. Penn State ain’t isht. Penn State football coach Joe Paterno and other university leaders “repeatedly concealed critical facts relating to Sandusky’s child abuse” from authorities, according to Louis Freeh, the former FBI director who conducted an investigation for the university in the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal. Freeh also found that “although concern to treat the child abuser humanely was expressly stated, no such sentiments were ever expressed” by university officials, including Paterno and the university president, for Sandusky’s victims. Freeh’s statement concludes: The most saddening finding by the Special Investigative Counsel is the total and consistent disregard by the most senior leaders at Penn State for the safety and welfare of Sandusky’s child victims. As the Grand Jury similarly noted in its presentment, there was no “attempt to investigate, to identify Victim 2, or to protect that child or any others from similar conduct except as related to preventing its re-occurrence on University property. Four of the most powerful people at The Pennsylvania State University — President Graham B. Spanier, Senior Vice President-Finance and Business Gary C. Schultz, Athletic Director Timothy M. Curley and Head Football Coach Joseph V. Paterno — failed to protect against a child predator harming children for over a decade. These men concealed Sandusky’s activities from the Board of Trustees, the University community and authorities. They exhibited a striking lack of empathy for Sandusky’s victims by failing to inquire as to their safety and well-being, especially by not attempting to determine the identify of the child who Sandusky assaulted in the Lasch Building in 2001. Further, they exposed this child to additional harm by alerting Sandusky, who was the only one who knew the child’s identity, of what McQueary saw in the shower on the night of February 9, 2001. These individuals, unchecked by the Board of Trustees that did not perform its oversight duties, empowered Sandusky to attract potential victims to the campus and football events by allowing him to have continued, unrestricted and unsupervised access to the University’s facilities and affiliation with the University’s prominent football program. Indeed, that continued access provided Sandusky with the very currency that enabled him to attract his victims. Some coaches, administrators and football program staff members ignored the red flags of Sandusky’s behaviors and no one warned the public about him. Penn State officials said they would hold a news conference at 3:30 p.m. ET to respond to the report. The report may affect the reputation of legendary coach Paterno, who died soon after the Sandusky allegations became public, as well as the university’s standing with the National Collegiate Athletic Association, which so far has not announced any punishments of Penn State. On NBC’s TODAY show on Thursday morning, the coach’s son, Jay Paterno, told host Matt Lauer that all the family has wanted is for an investigation to find the truth. “We have never ever at any time been afraid to see what people have had to say,” and he called the Freeh report “one opinion, one piece of the puzzle.” “We’ve never been afraid of the truth, so let’s have the truth come out and let’s go from there.” The investigation is billed by Pennsylvania State University as “independent,” though the university is paying the law firm of Freeh, the former federal judge and director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Sandusky, 68, was found guilty of 45 counts of child sexual abuse last month and is currently in prison awaiting sentencing. He faces a maximum sentence of more than 400 years in prison. Freeh was hired by the university in November to review the school’s dealings with Sandusky and its response to a 2001 report that he sexually abused a boy in a Penn State shower room, an incident witnessed by football assistant Michael McQueary. It has come to this for “unaccompanied” teenagers desperate to see the unrated Bully : “An AMC spokesman said it will indeed allow that, but only if the child presents a signed permission slip from a parent, either via a form letter made available by the theater or an improvised note on a standard piece of paper. The move is an apparent attempt to support the film — AMC executive Gerry Lopez has two teenagers and has been vocal about its importance — while still paying deference to the Motion Picture Assn. of America and its ratings system.” Related: Is Harvey Weinstein just recycling tricks from his Kids playbook ?
