Alexis & Jim Bellino: We’re Finally Getting Divorced!

The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Alexis Bellino is getting a divorce after 13 years of marriage. Though it has been a few years since she was on RHOC, the news about Alexis and Jim took a number of fans by surprise. People wondered where they went wrong. In a joint statement, the divorcing couple is confirming their divorce — and explaining it. In a joint statement to Us Weekly , Alexis and Jim Bellino hope to clear the air. “It is with heavy hearts,” the statement begins. “That we inform the public of our mutual decision to end our marriage.” That can be a difficult choice to make, and sometimes it is just as difficult to announce. The statement continues: “But it’s important to us that you know we made this choice together, with love.” That sounds amicable! That’s very promising. She says they see it as right for them, “and as the best decision for our children’s future.” The statement from Alexis and Jim, who just last year enjoyed a romantic getaway in Venice, Italy, continues. “We hold one another in the highest regards as spouses, and especially as parents,” the statement reads. So they want it clear that this isn’t a situation of spite or hatred. “We have agreed,’ they announce. “On 50/50 custody of the children,” So it doesn’t sound like they plan on waging a custody battle. They’re telling fans this “and we ask that you respect our privacy by not theorizing about the reasons for our divorce.” So we’re not meant to believe that they’re both assassins from rival organizations and have only just learned of this. Gotcha. “In recent days and weeks,” the statement continues. “There has been a lot of negative discussion about our marriage and why it is ending.” “Outside of the news of our decision to part ways,” Alexis and Jim say. “There is nothing provocative, alluring, or sordid about the dissolution of our marriage.” That is often the case. Marriages can begin and end for very mundane reasons. “Quite to the contrary,” the statement says. “We strongly support each other just as we have since the beginning of our relationship.” It sounds like they’re just no longer compatible as partners. “Our marriage was a good one,” Alexis and Jim say. “But we were never perfect people or spouses.” The statement then goes on to claim that “no one is” perfect. If that’s true, how do they explain Janelle Monae? “And in this respect,” the statement says. “We were a lot like millions of other married people.” In other words: flawed . “And,” the statement says. “Just like millions of other married people, we simply grew apart over times.” Hey, it happens. “There is no ill will or bad blood between us,” they reiterate. “And maybe that’s why,” they say. “Absurd rumors about our marriage and future together began when we filed for divorce.” Their argument, here, is that if they’d really been having problems, then there would have been rumors before their divorce. (We don’t know if we necessarily buy that logic) “We ultimately want you to feel happy for us,” the statement reads. “Respect our privacy during this difficult time, and pray for our mutual benefit as we weather this storm.” Alexis and Jim give a shoutout to those lending them emotional support. “To the fans who have supported us since the beginning, we’re grateful for how you cheers us on,” they write. “We ask that you continue to cheer,” the statement concludes. “As our lives and the lives of our children change and ultimately improve as a result of this difficult decision.” That is a very reasonable request. Let’s hope that their divorce remains as amicable and thoughtful as it appears in this joint statement. View Slideshow: Real Housewives All Stars: Who Should Be Cast?

Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley: It’s Over!

Despite the occasional bit of good news from Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner , most of the news about Married at First Sight couples is, well, bad. It goes with the territory. Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley’s news is no exception — these two are splitting after less than one year of marriage. What’s more is that they actually broke up a while ago. Did you know that Jaclyn and Ryan aren’t even the first Married at First Sight couple to have those names, right down to the spelling? Well, like Jaclyn Methuen and Ryan Ranellone before them, Us Weekly reports that Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley have decided to call it quits. As we mentioned, this apparently isn’t too recent, either. A source tells Us that this conscious uncoupling actually happened “a while ago.” The two apparently were waiting for the news to break before confirming it. But Jaclyn has come out and acknowledged the breakup on Instagram. Jaclyn writes: “We have split,” confirming the news. On top of making official, she wants to assure fans of the series that this is for the best. She writes: “and trust me we are both much happier and healthier this way.” That is usually the case for divorces. You don’t end a marriage just for fun. And it’s also no surprise for these two specifically, given that, back in January, viewers saw that even their honeymoon seemed tense and full of conflict. “Thank you so much for all the love and support,” Jaclyn says. Jaclyn assures her fans and followers: “We ALL deserve a good love story.” Sure! If you want one. Plenty of people would prefer to experience a good success story. Jaclyn affirms that people deserve love “whether you find it in high school, tinder, out dancing, on vacation, or a show.” “Love is love,” Jaclyn says. “And it certainly doesn’t judge.” That is very sweet of her to say. Though also in her self-interest, since she got married on a reality show. Jaclyn referred to the many people whom she met during her journey on Married at First Sight . “This was a fabulous bunch,” Jaclyn writes. She enjoyed meeting them all “and I’m always grateful for learning experiences.” it’s good that she’s walking out of this situation with a positive attitude. Jaclyn writes that she values learning opportunities, “especially when they involve self growth.” Marriage to a total stranger would have to qualify, right? (This was a photo of Ryan and Jaclyn’s honeymoon in Jamaica) Ryan has not yet responded to the breaking news on Instagram, as of Thursday afternoon, but on the show itself, he more than hinted that he would not be emotionally devastated by a divorce. And though his his an avid user of Instagram, one has to scroll through a couple of months to find any photos of Jaclyn. Ryan’s parents, we should note, have been married for about 40 years. So that’s a bit of contrast. It sounds like this breakup was reasonably amicable, but we’re sure that there are still a lot of complicated feelings. Even though they were total strangers before their wedding. View Slideshow: 19 Most Bitter Breakups in Hollywood History

Bekah Martinez: Arie Luyendyk Jr. Isn’t Ready to Get Married!

Are you ready for The Bachelor 's finale? One of the contestants thinks that Arie Luyendyk Jr. wasn't ready to film it. Not in his heart, anyway. Bekah Martinez isn't divulging any The Bachelor Spoilers , exactly, but it's clear that she knows how things end. In the video below, she isn't mincing words when she tells the world exactly what Arie is really like. She doesn't paint a pretty picture. As we all saw in the preview for The Bachelor 's epic finale, Arie Luyendyk Jr. feels like a monster . He says so himself. It turns out that Bekah Martinez, the notoriously young contestant who was also very briefly a “missing person,” has a similar view of the man whose heart she once vied to win. She doesn't quite use the word “monster,” but she describes a man who isn't being honest — with the world or with himself — about what he really wants. Bekah is forthright and charming, but even so, some might be tempted to dismiss her words as sour grapes from a woman who cried literal black tears when she was sent home. But … listen to her words and decide their merit for yourself. Bekah isn't revealing any spoilers about the woman Arie chooses, but she has a prediction. “I don't see him being with this person for the rest of his life.” Well, the world's known for a while that Arie changes his mind after the finale and goes back to the runner-up, so … she's not wrong. But more to the point, she says that he's not actually ready for marriage. “I don't. I just don't think that's what he wants right now, if he's being honest with himself and honest with the world. I think it's odd [that he would worry about choosing the wrong person].” She goes on to point out that Arie's outspoken indecisiveness is a sign that he's not cut out for marriage just yet. “I think that if you fear yourself making a wrong decision that much, you're probably not very in touch with yourself.” As fans await the finale, Bekah teases that it's going to defy expectations. “I genuinely think this is going to be the most dramatic season ever.” The most dramatic finale, at any rate. And one of the most divisive. “I'm not just being Chris Harrison on that. I think it's going to be very dramatic and very shocking. And I think people will have very strong emotions about the way that this season ends. That's for sure.” She thinks that Arie's fans are going to have some strong, potentially negative opinions about things. Keep in mind that she has the inside scoop. “I saw everything play out behind the scenes. You know, you are friends with the people [on the show], so you have people calling you, telling you what's going on, and it's rough.” Bekah is still in touch with most of the women from her season, and she says that her first response to hearing what went on after she left was … disbelief. “At first, I was just like, 'Oh, my gosh, this cannot actually be happening.' And then, honestly, my reaction after was like, 'Oh, well, that kind of makes sense.'” She's such a tease, but she has to be — she is contractually prohibited from dropping the spoilers that the Bachelor Nation craves. “I think Arie has a conflict between how he wants to present himself and what kind of woman he thinks he should be with, and what kind of woman he knows he should be with.” Plenty of guys are in that position — even plenty of guys as old as Arie. But not all of those guys star on The Bachelor . “And then what he really wants. I mean, you just don't change dating patterns you had for years and years at the drop of a hat because you're on a TV show. That doesn't just change overnight.” Basically, Bekah thinks that Arie likes to be in charge in his relationships and that he's not prepared to be honest about that or to get married. Is she right? She says that these last five hours (yes, it's a two-day, five-hour finale) could change the way that Arie's fans feel about him. “Arie doesn't have a huge fan base as it is, and I think the small fan base will be affected negatively [by the finale].” So he's not doing his brand any favors. That said, she doesn't think that he's a bad person. “He may be a misguided person, perhaps, but I think he's a good person, and a fun person.” Honestly, Bekah might be the breakout star of this season of The Bachelor . She's such a delight. Watch her interview for yourself. This girl needs to be back on everybody's televisions. Forever.

BOSSIP Exclusive: Russell Hornsby Talks NETFLIX New Dramatic Series “Seven Seconds”

We spent this weekend binge-watching a thrilling new series on Netflix called “Seven Seconds” which follows the family of Brenton Butler in their struggle or justice after a white cop accidentally hits and critically him. The attempted cover-up and its aftermath, which include extreme racial tension and the trial of the century… From creator and executive producer, Veena Sud (The Killing) comes Seven Seconds – a thrilling new anthological crime drama that explores the human stories behind the headlines. Watch the trailer below: What did you think? We had the chance to talk to one of the show’s stars, Russell Hornsby, who plays Brenton’s father Isaiah Butler. Seven Seconds BOSSIP: How is “Seven Seconds” different from so many of the headlines we see typically about white cops killing black kids? Russell Hornsby: This not your typical drama. The story has been ripped from the headlines in terms of a black teen who is slain by a white police officer, but normally you never really get to see what happens to the family. This kind of rips the curtain off and shows what happens once the cameras go away. Specifically in our storyline, what happens to the family, how they were affected, what happens to the parents, what happens to them as a couple as husband and wife, and probably more importantly what we haven’t taken note of, is what happens to black men… What happens to the husband. What happens to the father. I think oftentimes we’ve seen these stories through the lens of the mother, and rightfully so. I just think we’re at a time where there are fathers are there, there are fathers who did raise their sons and there are fathers who are affected by the tragic death of their child. For the first time, we’re able to see how this tragedy of how this affects the man who is given the duty of providing and protecting. When the notion of being able to provide is taken from you and being able to protect is taken from you, how does that affect you internally? And subsequently, how does that affect your relationships? Seven Seconds BOSSIP: Tell us about working with Regina King and the rest of the cast? Russell Hornsby: When you’re talking about the type of storyline, the type of drama, you need high-caliber actors with some gravitas, you need the kind of actors who understand the drama and the tragedy. These kind of characters aren’t for the faint. So you need people, actors that can go to a depth that isn’t usual. I think what we have with the cast, with Regina, with Clare-Hope and Michael Mosely and David Lyons, are those type of actors. Actors with immense talent and immense compassion. You have to really delve in deep and feel, be a feeling person and humanitarian to really feel that role and the actors on this project have that. BOSSIP: What kind of research did you have to do for this role? RH: Being a black man, you don’t have to go far for research. You can look at your life, look at the lives of people around you . I had to go a little bit deeper into my own life. Being a father of two I had to go deeper into the notion that I have to protect my children, I have to keep my children alive. What you realize seeing death by the hand of police or the hand of others, with no impunity you’re in a sense helpless. That’s a scary notion to realize that ultimately in this country, we’re in a sense at times defenseless. Seven Seconds BOSSIP: What do you think about the current state of race in the U.S.? RH: It’s new plateaus. Obviously, we’re further than we were 100 years ago or 200 years ago and we’ve progressed from where we were 50 years ago but we have a long way to go. There are new plateaus because of what we’re dealing with as a society when we’re talking about teenagers can be killed without recourse, black people can be killed without recourse. There’s still no justice. I don’t think it’s gotten better, I think it’s just changed. It’s also relative. We’re dealing in Jim Crow but we’re still dealing with an undercurrent of racsim that’s subtle. Some would say that’s worse. Also when we’re talking economic disparities, educational disparities that affect black people more disproportionately. There are more opportunities but they’re still just opportunities for some. I think you can’t say just because some people are able to go to school or some people are able to look at a job you can’t say, “Well why can’t you do that?” I think we lose sight of that, even as black people. It’s not that simple. There is a such thing as discrimination. There is a such thing as social injustice and these things affect our community. BOSSIP: What’s next for you? RH: I have a film coming up that I shot in Atlanta this fall called “The Hate U Give” based on the Y.A. novel of the same name by Angie Thomas. It was number one on the New York Times bestseller list basicaly for the last year, 45 weeks. I’m looking for that coming out some time in th efall. Myself, Regina Hall, Amandla Stenberg, Anthony Mackie, Issa Rae, Common. It’s a really great book we had a wonderful time making it. A turned into a wonderful script. I think it’s going to make a lot of noise and really impact audiences. Hit the flip for photos of the cast and crew of “Seven Seconds” at their screening last week at The Paley Center in Beverly Hills.
