Lil Wayne Calls Upcoming Single ‘6’7" ‘ A ‘Very Tall Record’

‘Hopefully, it shows people where I’m at lyrically,’ Weezy tells Shade 45. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Last week, Lil Wayne’s right-hand Mack Maine told MTV News that the New Orleans MC’s first expected single from Tha Carter IV, “6’7,”” would be like “A Milli” but “on steroids.” Weezy, however, corrected him on Tuesday (December 14) when he appeared on satellite radio station Shade 45’s morning show with DJ Drama and blogger Karen Civil , in his first extensive interview since his release from prison last month. ( Wayne spoke to MTV News on the red carpet of his welcome home festivities in Miami.) “It’s a monster, actually,” he told Drama. “Hopefully, it shows people where I’m at lyrically. Better than everybody.” But is “6’7″ ” a high-powered “A Milli” on steroids? “Nah,” Wayne said. “Human growth hormones. It’s a very tall record.” The track is reportedly produced by Bangladesh, who helmed the frenetic “A Mili” as well, and will feature Young Money/ Nick Cannon signee Cory Gunz. According to Wayne, he’s also preparing to shoot a video for the clip with iconic hip-hop music director Hype Williams. So far, since his release, the only new Wayne material has been his contribution to Bryan “Baby” Williams’ “Fire Flames” track. But Wayne warned that since his imprisonment, his skills have only increased. “I would say so,” he told Drama, when the DJ asked if he’d improved lyrically compared to before his time in Rikers Island. “I would say, yeah, because it don’t matter where I went, I try to be better than my last [project].” Related Photos The Evolution Of Weezy Related Artists Lil Wayne

Cee Lo Green’s ‘F— You’ Is MTV News’ #5 Song Of 2010

Motown-inspired track became the most unlikely hit of the year and one of our Top 25 Songs. By Kyle Anderson Cee Lo Green Photo: Getty Images First of all, let’s get the title out of the way. The song that comes in at #5 on MTV News’ Top 25 Songs of 2010 list is called “F— You” (and though we can’t type it out, you know what we’re talking about). It isn’t “Forget You” (which is what “Good Morning America” viewers and radio listeners hear) or “FU” or even “Fox News” (which was the lyric change Cee Lo Green made when he performed the song on “The Colbert Report”), and that’s an important distinction. The first single from Green’s new album The Lady Killer is a phenomenal marriage of rage, angst and giddiness that cannot properly be expressed with the word “forget.” It’s too angry, too thrilling and too singular for a radio edit, which is why it landed so high on this list. Of all the songs that appear on the upper echelon of this list, “F— You” might have had the strangest road to the top. There was very little excitement surrounding the release of Green’s new album (his third solo joint and his first since scoring huge crossover success with Gnarls Barkley, his collaboration with DJ Danger Mouse) when “F— You” became an instantaneous viral hit back in August. Thanks to a YouTube clip that did little more than lay out the lyrics to the potty-mouthed revenge tune, the song got passed around at the speed of the Internet, racking up millions of views before the song was even available on iTunes. Sensing that he had a hit on his hands, Green quickly cut a new, official video for the song (a brightly colored time-traveling tour through various episodes of traumatic female rejection) and pushed up the release date of the album. But while it seems like “F— You” should be a novelty song, it managed to transcend fleeting popularity, and that’s because of the song’s absolutely impeccable production. Co-written and produced by the Smeezingtons (the song-doctor collective that features breakout star Bruno Mars), “F— You” uses a funky Motown groove and bright-as-sunshine horns to build a spectacularly catchy groove over which Cee Lo can let his voice (which is all helium and rubber bands) dance all over it like an extra-angry Al Green. The language should have sunk “F— You” (in addition to the chorus, there are a handful of S-bombs and mentions of the N-word, hardly the things you can say in a crossover pop hit), but the jubilation with which Cee Lo delivered his vindictive lyric sheet wrapped everybody up, turning Cee Lo into a morning-show -friendly pop star (again) and spinning “F— You” into an unusual hit. The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and pushed The Lady Killer to the top 10 on the album chart as well. Cee Lo’s greatest “F— You”-related trick may be yet to come, as the song was just nominated for Grammys (Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Urban Alternative Performance and Best Short Form Music Video). And in perhaps the greatest testament of a song’s greatness in 2010, “F— You” got covered on an episode of the hit TV show “Glee” (by guest star Gwyneth Paltrow, no less). While there was no shortage of blunt honesty on the radio in 2010 ( Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie” certainly put the cards on the table), Cee Lo Green’s “F— You” was a special kind of honesty, as it dressed it up in a jaw-droppingly fun package. Green had plenty of poison to share, but he did it with a smile — and that’s what made “F— You” so special. (And yeah, the cursing helped too.) How does Cee Lo Green’s “F— You” rank among the year’s best songs? Let us know in the comments! MTV News’ Top 25 Songs of 2010 countdown continues. PostPartisan – Sec. Gates’s blunt message to the Senate and Sen. McCain

My editor popped into my office to ask “What's the headline?” out of the release of the long-awaited report on the repeal of don't ask don't tell. The answer was pretty easy. Defense Secretary Robert Gates wants the Senate to repeal don't ask don't tell before the courts force him to eliminate the policy. He urged that it be done during the lame-duck session and that those standing in the way “are rolling the dice that this policy will not be abruptly overturned by the courts.” Got that, John McCain? added by: mik661

Happy 32nd Birthday, Clay Aiken!

He’s an American Idol finalist, a father, a former Broadway star and, now, a 32-year old man. Indeed, Clay Aiken celebrates a birthday today, as Claymates around the world are likely sending their favorite artist a slew of best wishes as we type this. We encourage readers to do the same. After all, we’re talking about one of the most humble, charitable artists around, one who spent the summer promoting the release of his fifth studio album and touring with Ruben Studdard. Aiken seems like a very nice guy and we hope he’s having a terrific day!

Wikileaks ‘hacked ahead of secret US document release’ (is this why we were asked to download?)

Whistle-blowing website Wikileaks says it has come under attack from a computer-hacking operation, ahead of a release of secret US documents. “We are currently under a mass distributed denial of service attack,” it said on its Twitter feed earlier. It added that several newspapers will go ahead and publish the documents released to them by Wikileaks even if the site goes down. The US state department has said the release will put many lives at risk. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has said the US authorities are afraid of being held to account. Wikileaks has said the release of classified messages sent by US embassies will be bigger than past releases on Afghanistan and Iraq. The newspapers set to publish details of the US embassy cables include Spain's El Pais, France's Le Monde, Germany's Speigel, the UK's Guardian and the New York Times. The latest leak is expected to include documents covering US dealings and diplomats' confidential views of countries including Australia, Britain, Canada, Israel, Russia and Turkey. “The material that we are about to release covers essentially every major issue in every country in the world,” Mr Assange told reporters by video link on Sunday. WikiLeaks: you ain’t seen nothing yet

On Monday, Wikileaks promised to release information in the near future which is nearly seven times more voluminous than the recent 400,000 documents recently uploaded on its website on the Iraq war; the subject and the date of the release were not specified. The announcement came via Wikileaks' Twitter account. This announcement comes on the heels of Interpol calling for the arrest on Wikileaks editor-in-chief, Australian Julian Assange, on charges of rape and sexual misconduct. At the same time, WikiLeaks was soliciting funds from its readers asking them for help to stay strong, citing intense pressure in recent months. added by: Aimee_Kligman
