Sony Ericsson reports fourth consecutive quarterly loss for Q2

Sony Ericsson has posted a quarterly loss of €213 million ($300 million) for Q2 2009, it’s fourth consecutive quarterly loss as the global recession continues to pound the mobile handset market. Units shipped in the quarter were 13.8 million, a decrease of 43% year-on-year and a sequential decrease of 5 percent

Blu-ray disc sales rise considerably in 2009

According to the midyear report issued by the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) , sales of Blu-ray titles rose considerably so far in 2009, helping to reduce overall losses to the industry as prerecorded entertainment sales dropped 3.9% over last year. Sales of Blu-ray titles were up 91 percent, totaling $407 million
