Jim Carrey (who spoke out recently on the violence of Kick-Ass 2 ) , Chloe Morentz, Aaron Tyler-Johnson, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse all have that “don’t cross me or I will mess you up” look in their eyes, which is about right given their roles. The mother of 2-year-old cancer patient Hazel Hammersley playfully posted a sign made of medical tape in the window of her daughter’s hospital room that read “SEND PIZZA.” Never did she expect that someone would photograph the SOS, then post it on Reddit, where users pooled together to grant the request for the toddler and her family. And then some. So overwhelmed was the hospital by random pizza deliveries from across the United States that the family had to politely call off the request for pies! It came as a welcome respite from the toddler’s difficult fight ahead. Hazel, affectionately known as “Hazelnut,” was diagnosed with high-risk, stage 3 neuroblastoma in April and will require 18 months of treatment. Her mother Lauren said the family merely put up the sign to pass the time and try to have some fun and perhaps brighten up a stranger’s day. It ended up making the day for Hazel , as well as a number of other courageous kids battling against all odds at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. Lauren wrote on the family’s blog, Our Little Hazelnut: “We began hearing news that several pizzas were being delivered to the hospital.” “After only a few short hours, we were told that someone had taken a picture on the street of our sign, had posted it to Reddit and it had reached #1!!” “Hazel woke up from her nap to the smell of pizza and was so excited! Several other children and nurses came into the room, with music playing, and had themselves a wonderful Pizza Party.” “We have been absolutely humbled by the outpouring of love and support … and can only hope and pray that this brings awareness to Neuroblastoma and the Childhood Cancer Community.” Well done, Internet. Very well done on this one.

Rihanna Wins Restraining Order Against Stalker Intruder According to TMZ reports : Rihanna just scored three years of peace of mind … because a judge has granted her request for a permanent restraining order against an obsessed fan who tried to break into her L.A. home last month. TMZ broke the story … Rihanna obtained a temporary stay-away order against a man named Steveland Barrow, after he was arrested for breaking into the home of Rihanna’s neighbor. Cops told us Barrow believed the home belonged to Rihanna … and even slept in one of the beds. A judge made the temporary order permanent today, requiring Barrow to stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna for the next three years. In her request for a restraining order, Rihanna said she fears for her safety. The world premiere of international political thriller The Reluctant Fundamentalist will launch the Venice Film Festival August 29th. The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name about a young Pakistani man chancing corporate success on Wall Street, but becomes embroiled in a conflict between his American Dream, a hostage crisis, and the enduring call of his family’s homeland. The feature will screen out of competition stars Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber, Martin Donovan, Om Puri, Shabana Azmi, Haluk Bilginer and Meesha Shafi. “The festival’s opening night will feature a film that provides much food for thought. It is a choice that intends to highlight the growing role of female creativity in all spheres of culture and contemporary society,” said Alberto Barbera in a statement. “Mira Nair has made ??an exemplary film adaptation of a novel that deals with the topical issue of fundamentalisms of any kind or nature.
