Lana Del Rey Announces L.A. And NYC Residencies

Controversial singer to play three shows apiece at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre and New York’s Irving Plaza in June. By Kara Warner Lana Del Rey Photo: Michael Kovac/ WireImage Now that we’ve had some time to watch Lana Del Rey ‘s “Blue Jeans” video from the comfort of our computers, it’s time to prepare to see the songbird live in concert. Del Rey announced Tuesday (March 20) that over the first 10 days in June, she will be playing a series of concerts in New York and L.A. Tickets for the three New York shows go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. ET, and tickets for the trio of L.A. concerts go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. PT. Del Rey will play the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles June 3-5 and will set up shop in New York from June 7-9 at Irving Plaza. The “Video Games” singer’s recent rise to fame has been fraught with soap-opera-esque plotlines. First there was the hype about her Born to Die album, then there was an equally hyped performance on “Saturday Night Live,” the fallout from which resulted in a particularly negative wave of publicity from her very vocal detractors . That led to a cooling-off period that included rumors that Del Rey’s management had to postpone a scheduled tour . Now it seems as though the singer is back on track with promoting her old-school, sultry sound, as demonstrated in the retro theme of the just-released black-and-white clip for “Blue Jeans.” Del Rey’s residency announcement reflects the very specific touring plans she teased to MTV News back in February. “I’m capping every venue at 900 [capacity], because I don’t want to perform for more [people] than that,” she said. “So what I want to do is three nights in New York, like at Irving Plaza, and then three nights at the El Rey in L.A. and then, in between, do 15 cities, and cap it at 900 venues. And everybody is onboard, so that’s what we’re going to do.” Will you check out Lana’s L.A. or New York shows? Let us know in the comments! ‘X-Factor’ Judges Home Visit Episode Bumped Due To Baseball

Rain delay in ALCS game forces schedule change for Wednesday’s and Thursday’s shows. By Gil Kaufman L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell on “The X Factor” Photo: FOX Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” has survived more modest ratings than the brash British judge promised for his reality singing show. And given his tenacity and the amount of money piled up to promote the American version of his hit British competition show — not to mention the $5 million prize — it seems like it would take an act of God to knock the “Factor” train off the track. Well, that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday night when the show’s final 32 were slated to visit the judges’ homes and commune with such special mentors as Rihanna . The American League Championship Series game between the Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers was originally slated to begin at 4:19 p.m., but the pounding rain didn’t let up until after 5:30. By the time the grounds crew began prepping the field, the game had been delayed by two hours and 13 minutes. That already put the 8 p.m. start time for “Factor” into jeopardy. But add in the fact that the game went into extra innings after ending in a 3-3 tie after nine and you had a serious scheduling headache for Fox. By the fifth inning, it was announced that “Factor” would not air on Wednesday night, but would return to its regular slot on Thursday (October 13). The current plan calls for last night’s episode to air on Thursday and Thursday’s show to air on Sunday. That’s all fine and good (assuming this afternoon’s game is not delayed by rain as well), but if a game seven is forced between the two teams, “Factor” may have to shuffle again, meaning Fox might have to air three episodes of the show in the same week to keep things on track. As if all of this shuffling wasn’t confusing enough (and way frustrating for “Factor” fanatics ), the third round of the judges’ home visits will air on Tuesday, which is another switch from the Wednesday-Thursday schedule . To refresh your memory, after the grueling “X Factor” boot camp shows , L.A. Reid is mentoring the boys (Brennin Hunt, Brian Bradley, Chris Rene , etc.), Simon Cowell has the girls (Rachel Crow, Tiah Tolliver, Drew Ryniewicz, etc.), Nicole Scherzinger will deal with the over-30s (Dexter Haygood, Josh Krajcik, LeRoy Bell, etc.) and Paula Abdul is corralling the groups ( 2squar’d , the Brewer Boys, the Stereo Hogzz). After visiting the judge’s homes (or a neutral location of their choice), the 16 semifinalists will vie for a spot in the upcoming live shows. New Still from Pixar Short Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation — Aloha, Woody

And now, a safe prediction about Cars 2 : Its best part will be the short that precedes the movie. In the mini adventure, both Woody and Buzz (still voiced by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, respectively) and the rest of the toys stage a Hawaiian getaway for Ken (Michael Keaton), whose botched travel plans with Barbie (Jodi Benson) force him to remain in Bonnie’s bedroom. A just-released still from the short is enough to bring back my tears from Toy Story 3 . I could live in these damn movies.

New Captain America Trailer Ups the Raiders of the Lost Ark/Rocketeer Vibe

If you weren’t sold on the Chris Evans -starring Captain America: The First Avenger yet, let the newly released theatrical trailer assuage your fears that it’ll turn out to be another tame, Thor -level Marvel meh-fest. Instead, the trailer tells us, literally, what Edith Zimmerman learned the drunken way: Evans, and Captain America , is “gonna get so many girls.” And boys. And anyone with a lingering fetish for the retro-futuristic stylings of Raiders of the Lost Ark and director Joe Johnston ‘s underappreciated 1991 adventure The Rocketeer .

Classic Slasher Flasher: HD Bush Discovery from Friday the 13th Part 2

The 1980s were a golden age of skin-filled slasher flick franchises like Friday the 13th and Halloween , many of which included an equal mix of flesh and blood. With the skinthusiasm around the Mr. Skin office for retro rackage, and even more, flashback furburgerage (complete with the fur), we always like to take another look at the classics when they come out on DVD to see if there’s anything we missed. In the case of Friday the 13th Part 2, it paid off. When we see the lovely Lauren-Marie Taylor taking off her pants through a window at the 57-minute mark, a zoom-in with Skin-vision reveals a nice peek of bush. Dam, that’s good beaver.

Gwyneth Paltrow Sings With Cee Lo, Covers Taylor Swift On ‘SNL’

Pee Wee Herman and Anderson Cooper turn up in a digital short about boozy debauchery. By Mawuse Ziegbe Cee Lo, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jason Sudeikis perform on “SNL” Jan. 15 Photo: NBC When Cee Lo promised that he and Gwyneth Paltrow would be cranking out some musical moments when they both turned up on “Saturday Night Live,” he wasn’t playing around. The Lady Killer singer hit the stage twice, but he also showed off his comedic chops by popping up alongside Gwyneth in three different sketches. The “Closet Freak” singer wasted no time getting on with the funny business, by first turning up in Paltrow’s opening monologue. After the “Country Strong” star pumped up her country-music knowledge, including hits by the “lady with the hair and the big boobs,” Jason Sudeikis appeared as white-haired legend Kenny Rogers for his classic duet with “the boob lady” — also known as Dolly Parton — “Islands in the Stream.” After Paltrow flubbed the lyrics, Cee Lo sauntered onstage to join the duo, who all belted the lines perfectly. Although they didn’t share the mic, Paltrow and Cee Lo also showed up in a sketch about a bar mitzvah with tons of A-list performers rocking Jewish-friendly versions of their hits. Cee Lo, of course, played himself, rocking a full-length fur and swapping out “Forget You” for “Hebrew.” Paltrow played up her country connection by appearing as Taylor Swift and putting a Jewish twist on “You Belong With Me” with lyrics about Mel Brooks and shopping at Loehmann’s. Paltrow also hooked Cee Lo up with an extra-special introduction to his first performance, appearing in a skit as a record executive grappling with how to market the Gnarls Barkley vocalist’s potty-mouth single. Although, in this office, “forget” is a bad word, and Paltrow’s co-workers gasp when she spews things like, “Are you forgetting kidding me?” When Cee Lo strolls in, he greets everyone with “What’s up, motherforgetters?” and adds that he’s “feeling good, my Nintendos.” After some back-and-forth about censoring Cee Lo’s hit, Paltrow gets on the phone with the FCC, which declares the former Goodie Mob MC can say “forget you” on television — which segues right into the star’s first song. Backed by band of foxy musicians in clingy magenta minidresses and go-go boots, Cee Lo rocked the retro jam in front of a huge set piece swirled with Technicolor hues. Silhouettes of back-up dancers also grooved behind the star as he belted “I love you!” with abandon, looking slick in a black sequined shirt and gold chain. While Paltrow gave Cee Lo a standard “SNL” introduction for his second song, the singer souped up the look of the stage with scenes of a glittery skyline and flashy New York City streets splashed onto the set piece. With his groovy-looking band in tow, the crooner ripped through “Bright Lights, Bigger City,” swapping out the gold chain for a silver one and finishing up the performance with a raspy, rock-star-esque “Ow!” Paltrow popped up in other sketches as a comely cop who prompts an awkward reaction from Jay Pharoah as Will Smith on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” a leggy Heidi Klum auditioning to be a replacement host for CNN’s “Parker Spitzer” and a Spanish-speaking SportsCenter anchor who peppers her rapid-fire commentary with spot-on English pronunciations. In addition to Paltrow, another musical screen star made a special “SNL appearance: kooky personality Pee Wee Herman, played by Paul Reubens . In the skit, Andy Samberg runs into Reubens’ bow-tie-rocking alter ego at a bar, and they both end up knocking back tons of shots and getting into all types of booze-powered debauchery. Pee Wee even busted out his signature jerky, pelvic thrust before trying not to vomit all over the patrons. The rowdiness doesn’t stop there, as Samberg and Herman drunkenly wander in to the street and Pee Wee ends up smashing a chair on both a cop and CNN’s Anderson Cooper. The duo stumble home to an intervention staged by the pair’s friends, including Pee Wee’s puppet pals Chairry, Pterri and Conky. After Samberg and Herman agree to get their act together, everyone, including a bandaged Cooper, celebrates their new commitment to behaving properly with — what else? — a round of shots.
