It was bash Teresa Giudice night at The Real Housewives of New Jersey Reunion but she certainly invited the abuse. THG breaks it all down in our + or – review … Jacqueline Laurita bowed out of the event. Minus 5 . I always thought the players were contractually obligated to show up for these things, even when they all hated one another and looked like fools at the end. But it looked like Bravo let her slide. The turmoil had something to do with Teresa and an event that took place in season four which was currently being filmed. I suppose that’s more reason to tune in next season. Caroline earned a Plus 12 when she admitted she was mean to Melissa and Kathy Waklie at the start of the season. She had judged them on what Teresa had told her before ever having met them. That was unfair but at least she owned up to it. Teresa still swore what she wrote in her cookbook was nothing but a joke. She won’t say which of her three sister in laws she was insulting and sees nothing wrong with throwing out barbs about Caroline’s son. Minus 8 . There was nothing funny in what she wrote and she can’t see anyone’s opinion but her own. We had to sit through yet one more showing of the christening debacle. Minus 5 . I hope to never have to watch that nonsense again. At least the housewives had the decency to lapse into stunned silence after it was shown. Melissa Gorga earned a Plus 10 for admitting that her husband helped escalate the fight. That’s progress. Another Plus 10 to Joe Gorga who supposedly told Caroline he regretted his actions and knew he was going to get a public beating after it was shown. Of course Caroline was blunt as ever and agreed with him. When asked, Kathy said that Teresa and Joe Gorgas’ tempers were acceptable. That they’re just passionate people. Bull. Minus 11 . They’re adults who should know better than to scream, curse, and throw things like foul mouthed toddlers having a tantrum. I don’t mean to be the grammar nazi but what is with the “yous”? Listening to the Housewives families speak was like watching My Cousin Vinny week after week. Minus 10 . I almost couldn’t believe that Teresa Giudice could tell Melissa she wasn’t a good wife because she didn’t invite herself to the premiere party while she was in the hospital with a newborn, then went on to accuse her of marrying Joe for his money and followed it up by saying Melissa was the one ruining things. “We’re in a good place. Why are you going back there?” Does the woman not listen to what she says. She’s the one who was dragging out past history. Minus another 10 . Did anyone else get the feeling that Teresa’s completely clueless about her family’s legal and financial troubles or that bankruptcy fraud could end them up in federal prison? Her “call my lawyer” response to Andy was the smartest thing she said all night. Plus 8 . Plus 15 to Caroline Manzo who called the entire conversation a “whirlwind of stupid.” Yup. That about sums it up. We’ll be back for part two next week. In the meantime, here’s where the points land … EPISODE TOTAL : +6 . SEASON TOTAL: -68 .
Red-band sneak peek shows Jason Bigg’s character as older, but maybe not wiser. By Kevin P. Sullivan Jason Biggs in “American Reunion” Photo: Universal Old habits die hard, and that’s never been more apparent than in the brand-new red-band trailer for “American Reunion,” the fourth “American Pie” movie centering on the original cast. It’s been 12 years since the first “Pie,” and Jim ( Jason Biggs ) may have gotten married in the last movie, but he’s still the same awkward, horny kid at heart. And as you’ll see in the trailer, the same goes for his wife, Michelle ( Alyson Hannigan ). The new movie follows the gang as they prepare for the East Great Falls class reunion. But what makes the get-together truly special is that this is the first time since “American Pie 2” that the entire cast is back together onscreen. When we say the entire cast, we mean the entire cast. The movie brings back many of the memorable smaller roles from the series, including the Shermanator, Stifler’s mom and even John Cho as MILF Guy #2. The trailer doesn’t show much in the way of the story, but it has one big surprise built in that should set off the good old “American Pie” cringe. No matter how much things have changed, it looks like for Jim, they’re exactly the same. “American Reunion” hits theaters April 6 and stars Biggs, Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas and Eddie Kaye Thomas. Photos show Tim Burton’s vision of the vampire is much less human than the ’60s soap original. By Eric Ditzian Bella Heathcote and Johnny Depp on the set of “Dark Shadows” Photo: Andrew Lloyd/ Splash News Johnny Depp promised that his take on the vampire Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton’s adaptation of “Dark Shadows” wouldn’t diverge greatly from the “classic look” of the character in the ’60s-era gothic soap opera. “I think it’s going to be somewhere in that arena, with maybe just a couple of different touches here and there,” Depp told MTV News . Perhaps, though, things have changed more than a touch since then. Photos snapped of Depp on the U.K. set show a vampire less like the familiar Barnabas than something out of Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” Depp’s take, complete with pancake makeup, reddened lips and wacky blue glasses, makes the vampire look decidedly inhuman. That’s a stark divergence from Jonathan Frid’s original Barnabas, who was kind of creepy but also a dapper gentleman with an aesthetic that didn’t scream, “Hey, world, I’m totally a supernatural creature!” At the same time, what else were we expecting? This is a Depp-Burton joint, after all, and this duo is hardly known for subtlety or a reluctance to mess with the pop-culture past. So let’s not get crazy or cynical and swear off this new “Dark Shadows” based on a few paparazzi photos. Recall the deep affection Depp has for the ABC show, which premiered in 1966 and pulled in elements of gothic romance, ghost stories, time travel and a whole lot of weirdness over its 1,255-episode run. The actor has long held out a hope of bringing the material to the big screen and portraying Barnabus. The new storyline begins in the 18th century, when Barnabas is turned into a vampire by the brokenhearted witch Angelique (Eva Green) and buried alive. The film then flashes forward two centuries, as Barnabas is freed from his tomb and returns to his home and the dysfunctional relatives who now reside there. “We’re changing it a little bit,” Burton told us last fall. “I wouldn’t do it if it felt like it was just doing the same thing. For me, it’s about trying to go back to the original drawings and kind of capture that spirit a little bit more of what the drawings are. It feels different even though it’s a similar story, but we’re kind of expanding it a bit. Consequence, Outlawz, more join host Sway for all-star celebration of premier hip-hop show’s first year in the game. By Rob Markman Lloyd Banks and Sway Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News It’s a party, it’s a par-tay! On Wednesday (September 14), “RapFix Live” celebrated its one-year anniversary in all-star fashion. Maino, Lloyd Banks, Diplomats capo Jim Jones, Consequence, the Outlawz and Reek Da Villain all made their way onto the “RFL” couch to toast to MTV News’ premier hip-hop show. Reek set things off with a spirited “RapFix”-themed freestyle, making way for the show’s first guest Maino, who chopped it up with Sway about his favorite show moments. The hard-nosed Brooklyn rapper recounted some of his more memorable ones, including Ja Rule appearing just before he turned himself in for his jail bid, and Nicki Minaj’s and Lil Kim’s separate appearances. G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks came in to rep for Queens, New York, and clued Sway in on his upcoming mixtape Cold Corner 2. Banks also revealed that after dropping his H.F.M.2 (Hunger For More 2) last year, he has satisfied his contractual commitment to EMI, making him a G-Unit free agent once again. When he first appeared on “RapFix Live” back in May, Consequence made headlines , going into detail about his falling-out with former friend Kanye West. This time, the Queens MC turned the tables and revealed that he has since spoken to ‘Ye and the feud is over. After a heated email exchange between the two, ‘Quence claimed that West eventually told the ex-G.O.O.D. Music artist that he “loves” him. That wasn’t all: Cons TV also brought his newborn son, Caiden, onto the set and introduced him to the viewing audience. Although scheduled guests Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey missed their flight to New York City, Jim Jones represented for his Diplomats crew and talked about their reunion. He assured fans that the long-awaited Diplomatic Immunity 3 is coming, as is his Fly Boys collaboration album with Cam’ron. The “RapFix Live” anniversary show also paid homage to the late Tupac Shakur . Tuesday, September 13, marked the 15-year anniversary of the death of the fiery rapper, and his prot
Maino, the Outlawz also join host Sway on the red couch for one-year anniversary live stream Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Rob Markman Lloyd Banks and Sway on “RapFix Live” in November 2010 Photo: MTV News What a year! From the ascent of Wiz Khalifa to the rise of Rick Ross’ Maybach Music empire; from Lil Wayne’s 2010 prison release to T.I.’s latest incarceration; from the tragic death of Nate Dogg to the murder of M-Bone; not to mention the release of the highly anticipated Watch the Throne and Tha Carter IV, “RapFix Live” has been the number one source of all things hip-hop. After 12 months of hard work, MTV News will celebrate on the “RapFix Live” one-year anniversary show, set to kick off Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. Lloyd Banks , Maino , Trina and the Outlawz will join host Sway in taking a look back at the past year in hip-hop. In this special celebratory broadcast, “RapFix” will also relive the show’s greatest moments. Who could forget when Rick Ross graced the “RFL” couch for the very first time, or when Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose professed their love for each other in front of our cameras? After announcing their reunion, the Diplomats appeared on “RapFix Live” in January — but without Juelz Santana. While the Dipset, covering for their boy, told us Elz had suffered an allergic reaction, we later learned that the Harlem spitter had his studio raided by police. Santana stopped by himself in June to set the record straight. Cam’ron and crew weren’t the only rap supergroup to stop by “RFL,” though. Before releasing their Bad Meets Evil EP, Royce Da 5’9″ and Eminem invited Sway out to Detroit for a special sit-down. Fans also tuned in, in record numbers, when Consequence swung through the MTV Newsroom and aired out his grievances with onetime label boss and friend Kanye West . Yes, there have been some memorable moments on “RapFix Live” and a wide range of guests, including Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj, Game, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule and J. Cole. But the exclusive interviews aren’t the only thing that fans tune in to see on “RapFix Live.” At the end of every broadcast, the show’s guest isn’t allowed to leave until he or she kicks a freestyle rhyme. Pusha T, Fat Joe, Beanie Sigel, Nicki, Reek Da Villain and Fabolous have all blessed the show with their bars. The ridiculous rhymes and the standout moments — we’re celebrating it all on Wednesday’s one-year anniversary show! Fans can also vote on their favorite “RapFix Live” freestyles and “RapFix Live” moments on our blog. Be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. ‘We wouldn’t do a Black Moon album without that,’ Buckshot tells Mixtape Daily of Da Beatminerz touch. By Rob Markman Black Moon Photo: MTV News Behind the Beats: Da Beatminerz In 1993, Brooklyn rap trio Black Moon made their debut and stood right alongside New York rap titans like Nas, Method Man and the Notorious B.I.G. With boom-bap singles like “Who Got Da Props?” and “I Got Cha Opin (Remix),” Buckshot, 5ft. and DJ Evil Dee were torchbearers for East Coast hip-hop. After a six-year hiatus, the group would go on to release their second album, 1999’s War Zone, and their third LP, Total Eclipse, in 2003. Now that the group has once again joined together for the 2011 Rock the Bells tour , many fans are wondering if there will be another reunion album in the works. The answer is yes, but things may take a while. “There’s only one thing holding up the album: me,” admitted Evil Dee, who pulls double duty as the group’s DJ and producer. “I’m trying to make the perfect beat, but we finally got some joints. Other than that, Buck and 5, they’re constantly like, ‘E, wassup? E, wassup?’ you know? And I’m a man and I’mma admit that, but I’ll say it like this — in two weeks we start recording.” DJ Evil Dee along with Mr. Walt make up Da Beatminerz, and together they cooked up all of the music for Black Moon’s first two albums. For the next reunion album, titled Dark Side of the Moon, Da Beatminerz plan to handle production again. “We wouldn’t do a Black Moon album without that,” Buckshot told Mixtape Daily before their Rock the Bells set in New York City. “[It will be] me and Mr. Walt, and I might have to introduce some new Beatminerz to the scene,” Dee confirmed of his participation on the production end. “But it’s gonna be a Beatminerz-produced album, fully produced by Beatminerz.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Diamond made news a few months ago over a rumored relationship with Soulja Boy and break-up with Lil’ Scrappy. Scrappy’s mother even took a shot at the lyricist . In an interview with our sister site Hello Beautiful, Diamond said that she and Scrappy are friends and the media misconstrued the separation. She also tried to downplay her relationship with Soulja Boy even though the couple confirmed their relationship to Hot 107.9 in April: Soulja Boy & Diamond Call The Durtty Boyz To Confirm Relationship [EXCLUSIVE] On Lil Scrappy : “When it comes to Scrappy and I, I’ll just say that everybody grows and they into different directions. It was definitely blown out of proportion. There were people commenting on our break-up who didn’t really know what was going on. Those random comments made the media turn into an uproar. It wasn’t anything like how it was portrayed. I talked to Scrappy’s mom and she didn’t even know what was going on. Scrappy and I are really cool. I’ve been there for him through his hard times and he’s been there for me through my hard times. It’s not anything negative. It’s not anything how the media tried to make it seem.” On Soulja Boy: “Soulja Boy and I are just friends. He’s a great person and a great guy. I’ve known him for years, since he first came out. We’ve been cool ever since. We’re cool to this day. To hear Soulja Boy speak so highly of me in his interviews makes me feel good because a lot of people have the wrong impression of me. People tend to go off of what they hear in the media and you can’t judge a book by its cover. Soulja Boy is one person that really knows me for me. Him speaking positively about me kind of overshadowed all the bad press and publicity I was getting before.” Exercise Routine: ” I don’t really exercise. My metabolism is so fast right now and I’m just young. I don’t have a strict routine that I follow. I go off of how I feel and I eat healthy foods. I think that plays a big part in the way my figure is. I eat a lot of strawberries, blueberries, broccoli, and spinach. I mean anything healthy thing you can think of, I eat it.” Hair Secrets: “I put baby powder in my hair to get the oil out of it. Doing that allows you to keep your hair a little longer without having to wash it so soon. If you don’t sleep with a bonnet, make sure you sleep with a silk lined pillow case. Sometimes, cotton pillow cases can and will pull your hair out.” Girl Crush: “My girl crush would be Paula Patton. She’s beautiful to me.” What’s In Your Bag: “I’m carrying a clutch. But I always keep nail polish, my eyebrow pencil, my credit cards, license, lipstick, and cell phone.” Boxers or Briefs[on your man] : “Briefs. Boxers are wack.” RELATED: Soulja Boy & Diamond Call The Durtty Boyz To Confirm Relationship [EXCLUSIVE] RELATED: Lil Scrappy’s Mom Apologizes: “Diamond Knows That I Love Her Like A Daughter” [EXCLUSIVE] RELATED: Lil’ Scrappy’s Mom Calls Diamond A “Low Down Dirty B*tch” & Scrappy Responds!
