Should Rihanna Cancel Her Nivea Contract Because Of Their Racist Ad?

Read the original post:

Nivea wants black men to “re-civilize” themselves by adhering to Nivea guidelines and style experts who think this is how a black man should look: As you can see an Afro and beard would make black men appear too close to barbaric even though this is how most black men’s hair would naturally grow in. The black community is up in arms and even though Nivea has apologized and admitted that the ad was inappropriate people are questioning if Rihanna should cancel her Nivea endorsement. Rihanna reportedly received five million dollars from the skin mavens who also sponsored her tour. Why This Nivea For Men Ad Is “Uncivilized” [OPINION] We have seen plenty cases where after a celebrity who is endorsing a major product does something publicly inappropriate, are dropped faster than you can remember them being apart of the brand. So should it be the same if a company does something unflattering? Rihanna Posing Nude For Nivea Ad Campaign Should Rihanna cancel Nivea faster than Nike canceled Mike Vick?

Pharrell’s Qream Liqueur Is For The Ladies [REVIEW]

View post:

I don’t do creamy liquor. I barely do fruity cocktails. If you hand me a Kahlua-infused drink or Bahama Mama, I honestly won’t know what to do with it. I’m a vodka-seltzer kind of girl, simple and to the point. It gets me where I need to be without a sugar rush, headache or stomachache. BUT, when we, here at the HB offices, heard about Pharrell’s Qream liqueur launch party last month (to which we weren’t invited, but all is forgiven, and you’ll see why!), our interest peaked. After all, we’d heard good things. Really good things. First , that it was catered to women which, let’s be honest, is what HB is all about. Second , it was low in calories, lower than those found in a glass of red wine. Wine, people! That’s everyone’s guiltless go-to drink! Third (and this is more personal), it was dairy-free; a plus for me since I’m lactose-intolerant. And finally , not only was it dessert-inspired, but it could literally be baked, poured and cooked into sweets. Into them. Cupcakes, cream puffs, parfaits… So, after we picked our salivating mouths up from off the floor, we got ourselves a bottle. And though the vodka can in fact be mixed into a cocktail, we opted for having it on the rocks: just Qream, ice and some styrofoam cups (don’t judge). The reactions were unanimous. It was light. Silky, even. A not-too-thick type of consistency. It didn’t coat our tongues and overwhelm our taste buds. The Peach flavor was so subtly sweet, we likened it to a Creamsicle. Even a hesitant male co-worker begrudgingly admitted through his teeth, “Not bad.” We immediately started looking up pastry recipes and picturing all the scenarios a sip would be perfect in – hello, girls’ night in! And soon after the last pour, we wanted to get the Strawberry-flavored version. If you need further convincing, the 750ml bottle is less than $30. So both your body and your wallet won’t feel guilty afterward. Go! Check out Qream’s drink & dessert recipes HERE ! The Dark Knight Rises Security Team Used Standing to Deter Set Spy Pics

“The first woman I ran into, one of the PAs, I think, said, ‘You can’t take pictures here.’ It was on the sidewalk and I said, ‘I know my rights; I’m on a public sidewalk,'” paparazzo Jared Wickerham told Moviefone about the process behind the now-famous photos he snapped on the set of The Dark Knight Rises . “So she went up to one of the security guards and came back and just decided to stand in front of me. Since I shoot sports, I had a nice, long lens, so I just took a few steps back and shot around her.” [ Moviefone ]

REVIEW: Opportunist Glee: The 3D Concert Movie Deserves a Slushie to the Face

One of the running gags in Fox’s effervescent hit high school series Glee is that no matter how things occasionally come up roses for the show choir freaks and geeks of McKinley High, there’s always someone, slushie in hand, waiting to take the Gleeks down a peg or two back to cold, brutal reality. Ironically, it’s that same multicolored frozen treat, globbed at the screen in slow-motion over the end credits of Glee: The 3D Concert Movie , that underscores a similar, sad burst of recognition that’s perhaps been long coming: For all the uplifting, inclusive good that Glee inspires in its young target demographic, it’s a property that’s become high on its own self-projected, self-congratulatory fantasy of “fuck the haters” do-goodingness. And there’s nothing more that Glee needs or deserves right now than a slushie to the face.

REVIEW: Jesse Eisenberg Keeps 30 Minutes or Less Ticking, But Barely

Jesse Eisenberg’s performance in 30 Minutes or Less is like a mirror of something you’ve seen before in a movie you’ve seen before: As an unambiguously unambitious pizza-delivery guy who’s forced to rob a bank, is he riffling through the deck and pulling out the same old cards, perhaps in a slightly different order? Or is he adding subtle variations to a type of character he’s played many times previously, biding his time until he can get another role like the perfectly calibrated one he played in The Social Network ?

REVIEW: Miranda July Looks Into The Future and Sees a Talking Cat (Among Other Things)

A not-uncommon prologue: Miranda July drives me crazy, in the best and worst ways. Whether I’m watching her films, reading her stories, or taking a crack at her various, Web-documented performances pieces, I can’t seem to get off the fence. I want to get off the fence. I want it so badly that attached to every primary response — every swing across the fence and back again — I experienced while watching The Future , the plangent follow-up to her 2005 feature debut, Me and You and Everyone We Know , was the secondary desire to shoulder-pin myself there, if only for clarity’s sake. What seems most difficult to accept and so tremendously inconvenient to her appeal is that the talking cat — or whatever other of her grindingly earnest narrative totems — is not negotiable; it’s not even regrettable. If you want Miranda July, you want the talking cat.

REVIEW: Attack the Block Doesn’t Cut Deeply, But At Least Offers Lo-Fi Thrills

Attack the Block stems from an intriguing, clever idea: What if the neighborhood thugs you hope not to encounter on your walk home from the subway turn out to be the very people who save the Earth from alien invaders? The problem is that writer-director Joe Cornish — a cohort of Edgar Wright’s, and, along with Wright, one of the writers of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming The Adventures of Tintin — doesn’t take the idea quite far enough: He begins to explore some pretty complex racial and class issues, only to let them drift out of his grasp. The picture’s finale isn’t as smart as it ought to be. Cornish tries to make a damning social statement, but the only thing you take away from the movie is how cool it is to kick alien ass.
