Remember that adorable Star Wars -themed VW Super Bowl commercial that went viral, about a tyke in a Darth Vader costume who’s duped into thinking his Force is strong by a dad with a remote-controlled keychain? (Ah, deceiving kids. Always fun.) Well, here comes Little Thor, whose frustrated attempts to similarly use Mjolnir on unsuspecting household appliances and a golden retriever culminate in a decidedly different ending.
On Wednesday , Warner Bros. released a slew of stills from Green Lantern , most highlighting star Ryan Reynolds’ CGI -enhanced physique (and ridiculous-looking Gatling gun). Of course Reynolds’ Hal Jordan isn’t the only star in this big-budget franchise starter — the CGI creation that is Tomar-Re as gets major placement, too… and he’s voiced by Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush ! By Kara Warner Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Photo: Marvel / Fox The highly anticipated (if slightly delayed and problem-plagued) “Deadpool” movie has officially been assigned a director, VFX expert Tim Miller. According to Deadline , 20th Century Fox selected Miller to helm the pic due to his extensive background in visual effects. (Miller worked on “X-Men,” “X2,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Night at the Museum”). “X-Men Origins: Deadpool” will be Miller’s first time directing a full-length feature film. Although the casting announcements have not yet been made, Ryan Reynolds, who portrayed the mouthy mercenary in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” is expected to star. He recently told MTV News that he hopes the movie gets into production soon. “Worry not,” Reynolds told MTV News. “I want it to happen. I just feel like when it does happen, it has to be done the exact right way. I’ve been a part of it for way, way too long, and it has to be done extremely well. “There’s a lot I could say about it right now, but there are moving parts that I really want to see to fruition and I want to see them happen, so I don’t want to get into and put the cart before the horse,” he added. “So we’ll see.” However, Reynolds was quick to indicate that the delays aren’t due to any problems with the script. In fact, the screenplay by “Zombieland” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick is, well, perfect. “The script is exactly where I want it to be,” he said. “[The script is], tonally speaking, perfect.” Since Reynolds has said in the past that he’d only do “Deadpool” or zombie cop movie “R.I.P.D.,” this announcement and forward movement by Fox — and the fact that Reynolds’ co-star just dropped out of “R.I.P.D.” — might help nudge the “Green Lantern” star toward officially signing on for “Deadpool.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Looks like THG’s Fashion Face-Off pitting Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson against each other is the only battle those two are engaging in. Opening up to Al Roker of all people on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Sandy said explicitly that she and Ryan Reynolds are not an item. Sandra Bullock took advantage of the Golden Globes red carpet last night to shut down rumors that she is getting it in with Scarlett Johansson’s ex . Sandra Bullock claims there’s no proposal looming between her and her The Proposal co-star Ryan Reynolds. The actress said she and Reynolds “are not lovers” during a red carpet interview with The Today Show’s Al Roker at Sunday’s Golden Globe awards. When Roker started hinting he’d be asking some questions about Reynolds, Bullock jokingly said, “Oh my lover? My new lover? “I think there will be a collective sigh amongst women across the United States when I say he’s not my lover,” the Oscar-winning star of The Blind Side said. “He’s just an amazing friend that I’ve had for 10 years.” Asked about her adorable adopted son Louis, Bullock said he’s “the only man in my life right now” and all she can handle.
