Tim Pawlenty Loves Lady Gaga

If you have no idea who Tim Pawlenty is, we don’t blame you. The GOP presidential candidate polls way behind Mitt Romney, Michelle Bachmann and even Sarah Palin , who on top of being incapable, isn’t even running! Point being, T-Paw is running, even if no one outside Minnesota, where he served two terms as governor, knows it. So how does he change things up? Get his name in the headlines. More importantly, get Lady Gaga’s name in there. In this Q&A, he asks the interviewers which Gaga song is their favorite: Tim Pawlenty Talks Lady Gaga Granted, it was a personal and pop-culture interview, so it’s not like he name-dropped “Born This Way” in a debate. But he digs the song. Good to know. The a cappella version is better, if you ask him, though, and “Bad Romance” gives it a run for a money because of the beat. Think he’s making all this up? Even if he’s an avid watcher of Lady Gaga videos , we don’t expect she’ll be pulling the lever for Tim in ’12. He’s staunchly opposed to gay marriage.

Believe it or not, VH1 was not always known for embarrassing reality shows. The network will actually return one of its more popular, innovative programs on June 29, when Behind the Music premieres with an episode dedicated to Missy Elliott. We’re most excited about the August 10 installment, however. On that date, Adam Lambert will be featured, as his official site teases “never-before-seen home video footage, interviews with family, friends… and a sneak peak into the studio while working on his second studio album.” Adam Lambert – Soaked (Live) Here’s a look at the full Behind the Music lineup: June 29: Missy Elliott July 6: Ice Cube July 13: Miranda Lambert July 20: Nelly July 27: Mary J Blige August 3: Enrique Iglesias August 10: Adam Lambert August 17: Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin, ‘True Blood’ Win GLAAD Awards

Tina Fey was also on hand to accept the Outstanding Individual Episode award for ’30 Rock.’ By Jocelyn Vena Ricky Martin at the GLAAD Awards on Saturday Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage Tina Fey, “True Blood” star Denis O’Hare and Patrick Wilson are just of few of the celebrities who gathered at the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards , hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen on Saturday in New York. The awards honor “fair, accurate and inclusive representations” of the LGBT community in television and journalism. Big winners of the night included “True Blood,” which won for Outstanding Drama Series, and “30 Rock,” which won for Outstanding Individual Episode (in a series without a regular LGBT character) for its “Klaus & Greta” episode. Entrepreneur Russell Simmons was honored with the Excellence in Media Award. Ricky Martin took home the Vito Russo Award, which is presented to a “lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality for the LGBT community.” In his speech, Martin credited GLAAD for helping him cope in the wake of his public coming out last year on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” He then went on to push for Latin American gay rights and asked that GLAAD stand up for those who can’t in that community. “I just want to be free. I can say today I’m free,” he said at the event. “And for that I definitely need to thank my parents for being so supportive, my mother and my dad for their unconditional love, and my friends, my family, my fans. And my partner in crime and my boyfriend Carlos.” That was only the beginning of the accolades for those projects and people nominated, with additional GLAAD awards scheduled to be handed out in Los Angeles on April 10 and in San Francisco on May 14. Ricky Martin, Other Latin Celebs Agree: Arizona Sucks!

If you’re a legal immigrant in Arizona, walking down the street with your child, you may now get stopped by the police solely based on the color of your skin. While it seems incomprehensible that such a law could be passed in the United States, it’s a sad fact. It’s also one that Shakira spoke out against yesterday and then actually headed down to Phoenix to discuss in person with the mayor and other locals. Turns out, she isn’t the only celebrity (or American with a conscience) to object to this law. At last night’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, Ricky Martin said the ruling “makes no sense” and then went off on inequality in general: “You are not alone. We are with you. Put a stop to discrimination. Put a stop to hate. Put a stop to racism… Long live love, long live peace.” The singer himself came out of the (obvious) closet last month. A few others on hand also chimed in on the issue. Said Latin Artist of the Year winner, Larry Hernandez: “It’s regrettable that they are discriminating against for the simple fact of looking Latino. It’s not fair. We have to say no to that law.” Meanwhile, at a Phoenix press conference, Arizona native Linda Ronstadt stated: “Mexican-Americans are not going to take this lying down.” It’s a contentious issue, one many Americans don’t understand: this is racial profiling at its worst. Imagine if all African-Americans were detained and searched simply because there are more blacks in the system on drug charges than whites. It’s the same idea. Sound off with your thoughts now!

Anna Paquin Comes Out as Bisexual

Academy Award winner and True Blood star Anna Paquin is bisexual. The actress, who recently got engaged to Stephen Moyer , her costar on the HBO show, made the announcement herself in a new PSA video promoting the Give a Damn campaign, which features celebrities speaking out for equality. “I’m Anna Paquin. I’m bisexual and I give a damn,” the 27-year-old says on-camera, according to sources, who say they were unaware of this beforehand. Others present at the taping for the Give a Damn PSA, on behalf of the True Colors Fund: comedian Margaret Cho along with singers Mya and Jason Mraz. Other major names: Kim Kardashian, Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Cynthia Nixon, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, Judith Light, Clay Aiken and Wanda Sykes. Anna Paquin with co-star and fiance Stephen Moyer. Despite the significant star power attached to the campaign, it was Anna’s revelation that garnered the most attention, catching some people by surprise. The organization is dedicated to earning equal rights for people who are gay, straight, bisexual or transgendered. The organization’s “Give A Damn” campaign launches Thursday, with Paquin’s spot as the first of several to be unveiled online. As when Ricky Martin came out earlier this week, we’re happy for Anna because such an admission can’t be easy. If she’s content and happy, that’s great. In other Anna news, True Blood returns for its third season June 13!
