Or you can listen to your favorite song and it instantly takes you back to the moment you first heard it or fell in love with it? That’s the power of music. That’s the power of sound. Halloween may have the dopest movies, and you can listen to anything on your birthday — but Christmas is pretty much the only holiday to have it’s own category in music. Oh but that stops now. First we were shocked and appalled at the sudden split between Kylie and Travis . We didn’t really see it coming, but immediately rumors started swirling that Drake was at the center of the split. That’s right, the rumors had Drake and Kylie having some sort of relationship or at least some sort of physical entanglement. Then things went even further as reports had the two continuing some sort of relationship. Well, Drake and Kylie’s people quickly shot down those rumors. The Duggar family apparently feels like Josh Duggar’s molestation scandal has blown over, folks, because Jed Duggar is running for office . Despite that being a deeply controversial move, his big sister Jana gave him a shout-out and a glowing endorsement. Now, fans are upset with Jana for endorsing someone with upsetting, oppressive platforms like Jed’s. “It was an honor to go to the Arkansas State Capitol today,” Jana’s Instagram post begins. She got “to watch my brother @jed_duggar file as a candidate for House District 89.” “I’m so proud of the man he is,” she gushes. “And,” Jana concludes, “the heart he has for serving the community of Springdale!” “I hope he doesn’t forget that humans, especially women, have rights,” one commenter begins. The comment continues: “Women have the right to many things and he better not take any of it away from them.” “Don’t punch your religious values on people,” the comment concludes. “We don’t want it.” “No offense he’s not going to win,” another follower cautions. “Janna has a better shot at winning than this guy.” “Oh yeah, because he totally understands separation of church and state,” another commenter derides. The follower observes; “He’s been raised to believe nobody other than Christian men have rights.” “And he has no life experience,” that same commenter concludes. Clearly, Jed’s run for office is a disappointment to many fans, and they don’t love Jana endorsing his move. “I’m a Conservative. Pro-Life. Pro Second Amendment. Pro Religious Liberty,” Jed announced alongside his candidacy. The chilling litany of his agenda was enough to alarm plenty of people, even though it is no surprise. He also wrote that he plans to “Combat the Opioid Crisis. Lower Taxes. More Jobs & Growth. Strong Economy.” Jed being 20 years old and lacking any life experience or opinions of his own could really hamper him in any political race. “I’m Jed Duggar. I have grown up in the Springdale area all my life,” he wrote on Instagram. Jed continued: “And as a local small-business owner, I understand the important issues facing the residents and businesses of District 89.” Yes, we’re sure that Jed can relate to all of the other small business owners whose daddies gave them businesses instead of a college education. Clearly, he is hoping that others will overlook his lack of qualifications or experience and simply side with his abhorrent views on human rights. “Northwest Arkansas is the economic engine of our state,” Jed continued. He wrote: our local jobs and state economy depend on elected officials that take a common-sense, business approach to legislative reforms.” “I will fight for sound fiscal policies and tax relief for all Arkansans,” he pledged. It sounds like Jim Bob is angling for a tax break for himself and his fellow millionaires. “I will unequivocally advocate for conservative values,” Jed warned. “I am a Christian and I will stand up for religious liberty,” he emphasized. Religious liberty is a favored euphemism meaning special rights for conservative Christians. At times, laws passed on these grounds directly oppose the rights and beliefs of religious minorities. “:I am pro-life and I will be an advocate for the unborn,” Jed’s grim announcement continued. He continued: “And I will always defend our Second Amendment.” In other words, he’s happy to see people forced to give birth, but once they’re born, it’s basically fine if they die in a hail of bullets. “With your support,” Jed tells his followers. “I will be a strong, conservative voice in Little Rock for District 89.” Some Duggar fans have noted that Jed’s campaign seems to link his address to an apartment. It wouldn’t normally be shocking for a 20-year-old to live on his own, but most 20-year-olds aren’t members of repressive cults. Jim Bob lets his children move out of the house only when married. This seems like a curious exception. Fans believe that Jim Bob wants to make Jed look independent. Who’s going to vote for a man who’s forbidden from having an orgasm? Of course Jana endorsed Jed. Not only did she likely have no choice in the matter, but he’s her brother! The reason that fans were upset is that Jed’s platform just … sucks. The other reason is that Jana endorsing him conflicts with the image of Jana that fans have constructed in their minds. If Jana is really a rebel against the horrible beliefs of her family, she’s really good at hiding it. Mark off another major milestone for Amy Roloff. The Little People, Big World star has been undergoing one giant change after another over the past several weeks, from the sublime (an engagement!) to the tragic (the death of her mother). So… what now? Roloff has purchased a new home. Those who have been following the reality star’s life over the past year or so must be familiar with how she sold a parcel of her land on her family’s farm to her ex-husband, Matt. Ever since, Amy has been searching for a house away from the farm in which to settle down. She’s been keeping social media followers well apprised of this journey, admitting that she was a bit nervous because she hasn’t lived on a different piece of property in decades. But now Radar Online can confirm that Roloff has bought a residence in Hillsboro, Oregon; she closed the deal on September 27 and she paid $588,500 for the home. It’s located 15 minutes away from the farm, an insider confirms, and sits on .16 acres. According to Zillow, meanwhile, the average home price in this town is $379,200, meaning Amy likely purchased herself a pretty nice place. Also of note? Fiance Chris Marek helped Amy throughout the process, which does make a lot of sense, consdering he makes a living in the real estate industry. What else do we know about the home, courtesy of this Radar report? It boasts five bedrooms — very important when kids and grandkids, we’re sure, will often be invited over to stay — and four bathrooms and it takes up an area of 3,767 square feet. In September, Amy and Marek announced they had gotten engaged after three years of dating. Just a short while later, sadly, Amy’s mother died at the age of 86 after a lengthy battle with an illness related to a bone infection. Roloff has been paying her tribute on Instagram in the weeks since, most recently writing of her beloved late parent: Went to my Mon’s gravesite today. To feel her presence, talk w/ her, pray and be thankful for what her life gave to me. Can hardly believe that it’s been one month since my Mom’s passing and one week since her memorial. Still feels like just yesterday. Sometimes you just don’t feel or want to move on but you must. On top of all this personal news, Amy is set to welcome TWO new grandchildren in the very near future. Daughter-in-law Tori is due with a son any week now, while daughter-in-law Audrey is due in early January. Between these births AND a wedding to plan AND a move to make, we just hope Amy finds the time to count her blessings and to realize her amazing good fortune. We have no doubt that she will. After ages of silence, Selena Gomez has returned to us . By which we mean that she's making posts and music again. Some of that music has appeared to be directly aimed at her infamous ex, Justin Bieber, who got married just months after their last breakup. Now, a brilliant mashup of two of their songs frame the disparate tracks as part of a single conversation. Selena Gomez's lyrics in “Lose You To Love Me” are not what you'd call subtle or veiled. People spent decades debating the subject of Carly Simon's “You're So Vain.” Everybody knows that Selena's singing about the Biebs. Similarly, Justin's 2015 hit, “Sorry,” seemed to be offering a (monetizable) public apology for being a dickbag to Selena. Now, those songs have been fused into one mashup. It's a truly galaxy-brained decision. This isn't just some sappy fusion of music by a pair of exes. “It's too late now to say sorry,” Justin acknowledges in his song. As YouTube commenters pointed out, Selena sings: “Yeah.” It's no wonder that this mashup has more than 100,000 positive ratings vs only about 1,000 downvotes by, we assume, Hailey Baldwin stans. Andy Wu is the Los Angeles-based filmmaker, editor, and music producer who crafted the mashup. “It’s been 3 years since I made JELENA Megamix (2008-2016),” he acknowledges below the video. Wu adds: “Now their chapter is officially closed and done.” “I guess it’s time for everyone to move on,” he concludes. That is very correct. The mashup itself makes for easy listening if you're a big fan of both artists. If you're a diehard Selena Gomez admirer but can't often tolerate the sound of men singing, you may just want to stick to “Lose You To Love Me.” But it's worth taking a shot at the mashup, which we have included in this post. A lot of celebrities sing about their exes, but it's rare to see two such songs work together so very well. It's no surprise that Selena is singing about the Biebs … again. In late 2017, she and Justin reunited after he bent over backwards to convince her that he had changed … and that God wanted them to get together. They dated again for months, only to break up in early 2018. Whew. Just a few months later, Justin was back to dating his other ex, Hailey Baldwin. Weeks later, the two became engaged. We can't speak to what was going through Justin's mind at the time. Maybe he was just super inspired by Ariana Grande's engagement to Pete Davidson (remember that?). Maybe it was related to the controversial church that he attends — the same church that treats him like a prince and helps out on his “church dates.” Or maybe the Biebs had just reached a point in his life where he wanted to be married, and Hailey seemed like a solid plan B. As unfair as all of that is to Hailey herself (and we really do love Hailey; she deserved better context for her engagement and marriage), she's not the only victim. How did Selena feel after months of Justin insisting that they were divinely ordained, only to see him taking Hailey on the exact same church dates? Well, we don't have to wonder what she was feeling. She's expressing it all through song. At least in this mashup, she gets something of a real apology from the worst mistake she ever kept making.
Music Vet Dame Grease Says Rasheed “ Ralo” Harrison Screwed Him Out Of Royalties The co-writer for DMX’ s hit “Stop Being Greedy” wants a man he believes stole his royalties to do just that. One of hip hop’ most prolific songwriter/producers – who helped to hone the Ruff Ryders’ sound – has sued a fellow music industry veteran for orchestrating a music royalty theft scam. Dame Grease has filed a $2 million lawsuit against Wonder Boy Publishing head Rasheed “Ralo” Harrison for tortious interference with contract, alleging he straight up stole Grease’s extensive publishing catalog from right under his and the record label’s nose. According to court papers obtained by BOSSIP, Grease said he inked a publishing deal with Sony 20 years ago where the company would oversee his catalog and he would retain 50 percent of his copyrights. But the writer said he believes Harrison forged his signature and illegally took over ownership of the catalog, and Grease said Sony hasn’t provided an accounting of his royalties for seven years. Sony/ATV Music Publishing and BMG Rights Management are also named as defendants for breach of contract, Grease’s amended complaint, which was filed Nov. 4, states. Grease is being represented by Lita Rosario, who also litigated Big Pun’s widow’s back royalty case against Fat Joe a few years back. “Actually, my first thought was to get on some street s**t,” Grease told BOSSIP about when he learned of the alleged fraud. “With selling 60 million records, I knew the residuals weren’t coming back. I was seeing royalty statements for a couple of hundred dollars.” The ghostwriter, who helped pen and produce classics from the late 1990s including Nore and Nas’ “Body In The Trunk,” The Lox’s “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa,” and most of DMX’s debut album, “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot,” said he believes he’s not Harrison’s only alleged victim and wouldn’t be surprised if other big names sue him for compensation in the future. Grease, who is supporting two of his children in college, said he wants his catalog back, an accounting from Sony on how they allegedly dropped the ball and his back royalties plus punitive damages. We’ve reached out to Harrison’s lawyer, who said he was not involved in the case declined to comment.
