Today is National Sandwich Day and all across the country, people are having moments of joy because the now-beloved Popeyes Chicken Sandwich  has made a glorious return after three months off the menu. But, if you don’t want to have to wait in line for hours at the counter or drive-thru, we have a bit of a life hack for you. Here’s how you can make your own copycat Popeyes Chicken Sandwich via Gimmie Delicious. INGREDIENTS: For the chicken marinade 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon EACH paprika garlic powder, black pepper, salt For Breading 1 cup flour ½ cup corn starch 1 tablespoon EACH paprika garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (for spicy) 1 teaspoon EACH salt & pepper Spicy mayo ½ cup mayo 1 teaspoon hot sauce 1 teaspoon paprika or cajun or taco seasoning 1/2 tsp garlic powder To Assemble: 4 medium-sized brioche buns Mayonnaise Sliced pickles 3-4 cups canola oil for frying DIRECTIONS: To Marinate chicken Pound chicken breasts in between two pieces of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Cut each chicken breast in half crosswise to make 2 small pieces of chicken about the same size as the bun (see video below). In a large bowl, buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, salt & black pepper. Add the chicken to the mix and place in the fridge to marinate up to 24 hours or use right away. To Cook Chicken Heat oil in a large heavy-duty skillet or pot on medium temperature or until the temperature reaches 350F. In a medium shallow bowl, whisk the flour, cornstarch, and spices. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of the buttermilk batter into the flour mixture and mix it through with a fork. Working with 1 piece at a time, dredge chicken the flour mixture and press flour on the top chicken to form a thick crust. Transfer chicken to hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes per side or until the outside is crispy and golden and the internal temperature reaches 165F. To Assemble Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large saucepan and toast buns face down until golden and crisp. Whisk all the ingredients for the mayo in a small bowl and spread a generous layer of mayo on each bun. Top with pickles and chicken. Enjoy hot! Brian Chesky, the company’s CEO, announced on Saturday that Airbnb is “redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties,” which includes expanded manual screening for reservations that are deemed “high-risk.” Starting today, we are banning “party houses” and we are redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties and get rid of abusive host and guest conduct, including conduct that leads to the terrible events we saw in Orinda. Here is what we are doing: — Brian Chesky (@bchesky) November 2, 2019 An Airbnb spokesman didn’t offer many details on how these aforementioned efforts would be implemented–or what might flag a rental as a party house–saying that the company has initiated a 10-day review to develop new policies. Ben Breit told The LA Times that the rental listing where the shooting occurred had rules that barred parties, also adding that the listing and the person who rented it have both been removed from the site. According to police , over 100 people from surrounding areas visited the home in the East Bay suburb of Orinda on Thursday night. The gathering was heavily advertised on social media and officers ended up responding to a noise complaint at the residence, but when they arrived, they found a “highly chaotic scene” with multiple gunshot victims. The Times also reports that Airbnb has reached an agreement with the city of Los Angeles to create a system that will streamline enforcement of the city’s new regulations on their site. Under the system–which has yet to be created–new hosts won’t be able to publish listings without final approval from the city. On top of that, existing listings without the city’s required registration number will be removed.

Source: Disney / Disney Disney has been showing off all 2019 and bringing magic to real life with their live action flicks like The Lion King and Aladdin . And in about two weeks, you can add Lady and the Tramp to the list of live action Disney remakes that made you experience the bliss of your childhood imagination IRL. We got a chance to visit the Savannah, Georgia set of the Charlie Bean directed film last year, and hung out with the phenomenal and eclectic cast and crew — including three of the stars of the movie, Kiersey Clemons , Thomas Mann and Yvette Nicole Brown . The live action version of the classic film tells a similar story to the original Disney version: An upper-middle-class American cocker spaniel named Lady who meets a streetsmart, downtown stray Schnauzer called the Tramp, and the two embark on many romantic adventures including that iconic spaghetti smooch scene.” However, this time around, the cast is much more diverse in race and age. Thomas and Kiersey play a young couple with a little baby living a super adult life. Thomas told us about landing the role: I was super excited because I never been apart of a Disney before and I was huge fan of Lady and the Tramp as a kid. So obviously it was a no brainer. But I was like ‘Ugh, there’s probably gonna be a lot of guys trying out for this.’ And I also thought I was too young. But obviously that wasn’t the case. I only had to audition one time, then I got it after that. And Kiersey was cast just before me so it was amazing that they put us together. We’re both so young, living this adult life. He even had to grow a mustache for the role. As for Kiersey, she fell in love with the real stars of the film as soon as she began filming. I love the dogs! We cuddle a lot. I would love to take Tramp home, but all the dogs have homes I think Rose (the pup that plays Lady) and I bonded. She runs this set. I can tell when she’s not into it that day. She knows this is her movie. I have lots of respect for Rose. She also dished on how she made her character Darling Dear a little different from the 1955 version: I made her a little assertive. I’m using my imagination alot with like the times, and this fantasy world of it being Disney. And her being this young woman of color. She wears the pants in the relationship and it’s been fun. Fun Facts:  It took about sixteen weeks to train the pups for their roles. All the pups were rescues before being adopted after filming wrapped.  The city of Savannah was another major star of the movie, according to Yvette Nicole Brown: “There’s a certain magic to this city. I think Atlanta would’ve been too big for this movie. The production design looks exactly like 1910. It was very cool to go back in time for a few days.” Just in time for the holidays, Disney is giving us that little spark of joy, magic and wonder that we all need at this time. Hampton University Professor Leads Initiative To Bring Health Screenings To Black Barbershops

T here is power that lies in the cultural influence of barbershops; especially within the Black community. These establishments have become far more than places where folks come to get their haircut; they’ve evolved into safe spaces where everything from political and social issues to health are discussed. A group of students from Hampton University is tapping into the impact of Black barbershops by utilizing them as an avenue to spread awareness about cancer prevention within the African American community, Southside Daily reported. Nursing professor pilots black men’s health screening program in a Hampton barbershop https://t.co/JASIj7V18s — Daily Press (@Daily_Press) October 18, 2019 The HBCU students teamed up with Hampton University nursing professor Jonathan Romero to launch an initiative called the “Barbershop Outreach Project” which was designed to address the disproportionate survival rates amongst men after they are diagnosed with cancer. Romero and the students—who are all pursuing nursing and pre-med degrees—teamed up with the Hampton-based barbershop BK’s Barbershop to provide health screenings for Black men. The project was created to cultivate a stronger relationship between Black men and the health system and to insert the importance of health screenings into barbershop conversations. “We set up right at the side of the building and we just asked ‘would you be interested in talking to us about your health?’” Romero told the news outlet. “Machismo or masculinity stubbornness will kill you in our community and has killed people in our community. People don’t seek out care so others won’t think they’re weak.” He hopes that Hampton University will be the leading force of change when it comes to Black health in the local community. As far as what’s on the horizon for the Barbershop Outreach Project, the organizers are planning to host more health-focused events at other barbershops. Black barbershops have become vessels for social change on many fronts. Through his program Barbershop Books , entrepreneur Alvin Irby is bringing literature to barbershops across the country to inspire young African American boys to read. Research shows that although less than one percent of Black women entrepreneurs receive venture capital funding, they are the fastest-growing group of business owners in the country. Hair care entrepreneur Muhga Eltigani is one of the many female founders making power moves in business. According to Inc. , the NaturAll Club founder recently became one of about 50 Black women in the country to raise $1 million in funding. This Entrepreneur Just Became One of Few Black Women in the U.S. to Raise More Than $1 Million From VCs. First She Had to Turn Down $500,000 https://t.co/OdOQ8eUe1Z — Inc. (@Inc) October 12, 2019 Eltigani founded NaturAll Club in 2015. The natural hair care subscription platform delivers fresh handmade hair products on a monthly basis. Last year Eltigani won $500,000 in a startup competition but decided to turn down the prize because it would have required her to move her Philadelphia-based company to Buffalo, New York. Dennis initially made a $1 million investment and after plans for Eltigani’s company grew, he decided to invest another $4 million. Dennis is dedicated to ensuring that women of color entrepreneurs have access to venture capital funding. “The facts about investments in women of color entrepreneurs, particularly black women, are astonishing,” Dennis told the news outlet. “Entrepreneurship among women of color has increased more than 320 percent, but less than 1 percent of those women receive access to the funding needed to sustain and grow their businesses. This is unacceptable.” Several individuals are stepping up to address the funding gap for Black women. Actress Keshia Knight Pulliam teamed up with entrepreneur Arian Simone to launch the Fearless Fund ; a $5 million venture capital fund to support startups created by women of color. Jeremy Roloff Undergoes Surgery, Vows to Live Healthier Lifestyle

Jeremy Roloff has shared some surprising news with fans. And also some concerning news. The former Little People, Big World star took to Instagram late this week and informed followers of the following piece of information: He very recently underwent surgery. On Saturday, the 29-year old explained what happened, why it happened — and how he’s making changes to ensure it never happens again. “Yesterday I had my first surgery. Inguinal hernia surgery. “I’ve had a hernia for the past few years, but thought I could live with it in order to avoid surgery, so I ignored it.” Yiikes, huh? We don’t recall Jeremy having ever touched on such an issue before. He continued with his update by providing a lot more information. To wit: “Over the last several months I’ve been having some increasing health concerns, specifically severe lower back pain and chronic shoulder pain.  “I’ve come to realize that I’ve been subconsciously protecting my hernia with poor posture and lack of core strength.” The host of a podcast and the author of a memoir, Jeremy went on to say that he isn’t in peak physical condition. This has a lot to do with how he’s been feeling, too. “I’ve pretty much eliminated all physical exercise too which has increased the problem because of muscle loss which has me walking weird as well,” he wrote online, adding: I’ve been ignoring my health and it all came to a head when just a few days ago I threw out my back after sneezing. Embarrassing, right? Roloff is expecting his second child with wife Audrey in January. So it’s imperative that he gets back on his feet in order to help with his growing family, especially once the newborn arrives. “All said, I’m considering this a turn in my health journey,” Roloff concluded. “I have a goal to be in the best shape of my life by 32. Health is something that needs continual attention or else it unnoticeably fades – like most things in life. Time to put some attention back on personal health!” For those interested, a hernia occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place, per the Cleveland Clinic. For men, the inguinal canal is a passageway for the spermatic cord and blood vessels leading to the testicles. The injury can be very painful if left untreated, as Jeremy just found out. We’re glad he’ll soon be back on his feet, though, and ready to help with precious baby number-two. Jeremy and Audrey announced that they are expanding their family in July … and revealed it would be a baby boy in August. ”We’re so excited!” Roloff wrote on Instagram for the gender reveal, which featured footage of the former reality stars finding out it was a boy via blue-colored smoke. “We are surprised and can’t wait to be a family of four,” Audrey captioned her own video. A Naperville Buffalo Wild Wings is under intense scrutiny after a group of patrons decided to leave after being asked to move tables because a regular customer didn’t want blacks sitting nearby. According to Chicago Tribune reports: Justin Vahl and Marcus Riley said they visited the Buffalo Wild Wings on 75th Street east of Route 59 to celebrate a child’s birthday about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 26. He was the first in his group to arrive at the restaurant, Vahl said, and he initially told the host he needed seating for 15 people. As the staff was setting up the tables, he said he realized he’d miscounted and went to the tables to discuss adding more chairs for three more kids. Vahl returned to the waiting area, where the host — who Vahl described as a young black man — asked, “What race are you?” Vahl asked why it mattered. He said the host explained that one of the restaurant’s regular customers seated nearby “doesn’t want black people sitting near him.” “I’m not going to let a customer dictate where we sit,” Vahl said, and he told the host to seat the party at the table. Vahl said a manager then approached the group shortly after speaking with the regular customer and his guest. The manager told Vahl’s group they needed to move because the tables had been reserved by another party of 18. A reporter from the Naperville Sun called the restaurant after the incident and was told the Naperville location does not take reservations. So… Obviously somebody was LYING. After multiple managers attempted to get their group to move, Vahl said the six adults in the group opted to go to another restaurant — but that move prompted questions from their children, making the already painful experience even worse. “I’ve never in my entire life experienced something like. To have my children go through that, it brought me to tears,” Riley said. SAD AF. This is Trump’s ‘MeriKKKa y’all. Our children aren’t safe. Justin Vahl’s wife Mary posted about the incident on social media. Claire Kudlata, coordinator of brand communications, said in an email to the Tribune that Buffalo Wild Wings has zero tolerance for discrimination: “We take this alleged incident very seriously and are conducting a thorough, internal investigation,” Kudlata said in the email. “We’re in direct communication with the guest to understand their account of what happened and to offer our deepest apologies for any unacceptable behavior.” Deepest apologies? What the hell is that supposed to do. They’ll be lucky not to be sued.

Source: Elizabeth Fernandez / Getty Florida Teen Accused Of Trying To Hire Hitman To Kill A School Facility Member According to the Tampa Bay Times , an 18-year-old high school student is facing first degree solicitation to attempt murder charges after offering $100,000 for a hit on a high school staff member . Nicholas R. Godfrey was arrested after an Instagram account with the request for “a guy who could kill someone” was traced to a computer IP address at his home. Godfrey reportedly offered $100,000 to another student to clap unnamed Fivay High staff. Godfrey reportedly messaged: “No joke, I need him eliminated as soon as possible,” Authorities are still scratching their heads as to why he sent the request, as the teen had no known past problems with the staff member, who was provided protection as a precaution. Godfrey later confessed that he was only joking. “It doesn’t matter what the intent was,” the sheriff said. “When you do it and post it on social media, the crime is committed.” Godfrey is now sitting in a county jail.
