Six months ago Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth called off their 3-year long engagement . Bachelor Nation did not see it coming, but apparently, Kaitlyn totally did? That’s right, the season 11 Bachelorette star knew for almost a full year that her relationship with her personal trainer fiance was sinking… fast. Kaitlyn made the confession on Tuesday’s episode of The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast, according to E!. “I think I knew for a year that my relationship wouldn’t work,” she said. “I think I knew that he just couldn’t give me the kind of love that I needed in my life.” “And I think for a solid year, maybe half a year, I was already grieving the relationship,” she told host Ashley Laconetti. “I think I was just so prepared for it that, when it happened, I knew what I wanted; and I knew what I deserved; and I knew that I was happy on my own and that I wasn’t just replacing somebody.” Well, it seems the universe was listening because Jason Tartick, from Becca Kufrin’s season, was right there with arms wide open following Bristowe’s unexpected split. Fans watched Kaitlyn and Shawn find their (not so) happily ever after back in 2015 on The Bachelorette . Their season ended in a stunning proposal and the two were even considered one of the franchise’s most successful couples… before they called it quits in 2018, of course. So when fans got word of Jason and Kaitlyn’s prompt pairing , some took it as a slap in the face to Shawn. But the 33-year-old rejects any speculation at spite or enmity towards her former lover. “It can seem fast, but to me, it was perfect timing because I just knew what I wanted and I just didn’t see it happening,” Kaitlyn shared. “I was like, there’s no way I’m going to meet somebody that quick that could make me that happy.” She also said that it was definitely weird timing, but “it wasn’t too fast for” her. It’s pretty funny she didn’t think she’d be able to jump back into the dating game, considering that has been her money maker throughout the years. And besides, we all know that Bach alums usually find their next partner within their famous TV circle — it’s basically just a really good recycling system with really attractive humans. However, Bristowe insists that she never expected to date someone else from the ABC franchise. “Shawn and I had a very difficult time on the show, and I think that was really hard on our relationship,” she said. “I think I was a little bit jaded by Bachelor relationships because of that.” “So, I just figured, you know, I’m just going to move past that, and I won’t date anyone from The Bachelor franchise.” “I thought I’d be single for, like, five years… because I knew I was OK with that.” But it seems that fate had a different plan. Even though Kait admitted that she was still “heartbroken” when she met Tartick while recording a podcast, the two became quick friends. Kaitlyn was even rooting for him to be the next Bachelor … “It was like my heart knew that there was something there and there was some reason I was rooting for his happiness and I cared about him,” Kaitlyn said. “But I didn’t ever see it as anything [that] it turned into.” Which apparently (fr this time!!) is true love.
