GOP Plan To Shame Stacey Abrams For Burning Georgia’s Racist Confederate Flag Backfires

I n a tight race to be Georgia’s next governor , an apparent Republican attempt to shame Democratic nominee  Stacey Abrams for participating in the burning of Georgia’s racist flag back in college has backfired. Abrams, who would become the nation’s first Black woman governor if elected, defended her actions. See Also: 5 Things To Watch For In Georgia’s First Governor Debate Between Stacey Abrams And Brian Kemp An image from a 1992 Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper clip of the demonstration suddenly surfaced on social media on Monday night — the eve of Abrams’ first debate against her GOP rival Brian Kemp  — the New York Times reported. When @staceyabrams was at @SpelmanCollege , the Georgia state flag still had the Confederate emblem in its design. She exercised her First Amendment rights by helping to burn it on the state capitol steps. Good for her. I’d have set that thing on fire, too. https://t.co/zOyZ2kHjFl — Jamil Smith (@JamilSmith) October 23, 2018 The picture shows Abrams, during the end of her freshman year at Spelman College, burning the flag alongside two other African-American demonstrators. Abrams’ campaign confirmed to the Times that she indeed participated in the protest against the Confederate symbol on the flag. “During Stacey Abrams’ college years, Georgia was at a crossroads, struggling with how to overcome racially divisive issues, including symbols of the Confederacy, the sharpest of which was the inclusion of the Confederate emblem in the Georgia state flag,” a statement from the campaign read. “This conversation was sweeping across Georgia as numerous organizations, prominent leaders, and students engaged in the ultimately successful effort to change the flag.” Right. Georgia changed its state flag in order to emblazon it with the Confederate flag after Brown v. Board in order to send a message to its black citizens about what white leadership felt about their rights. Blk ATL mayors refused to fly it. So. Yeah. https://t.co/purCKgneij — Ida Bae Wells (@nhannahjones) October 23, 2018 The demonstration happened when then-governor Zell Miller made his first unsuccessful bid to remove the controversial Confederate symbol from the state flag, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution . Georgia’s last Democratic governor, Roy Barnes , successfully authorized a redesign of the flag in 2001—a move that contributed to his political defeat in 2002. Abrams’ opposition to Confederate symbols will likely become a debate topic on Tuesday night. Kemp has vowed to protect Confederate monuments. Clarence Thomas’ Supreme Court Dissent Paves The Way For A ‘Racist’ Census

Read more here:

T he Supreme Court’s ruling Monday night that Trump’s commerce secretary doesn’t have to explain under oath his reason for adding what some say is a racist question to the 2020 Census was a major victory for the president. To perhaps no one’s surprise, Justice Clarence Thomas was reportedly among the judges’ leading voices with the dissenting opinion that overturned a lower court’s prior ruling that sided with immigrant-rights activists. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross approved the addition of a Census question that asked if the person filling out the form was an American citizen. The pushback was immediate, labeling the move as a form of racism that would simplify the targeting non-citizens Trump’s anti-immigration and pro-deportation government. A federal judge ultimately ruled Ross should be deposed over the question, but Monday night’s ruling ended any thoughts of that notion. SCOTUS stays deposition of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in citizenship question case until it decides whether to hear appeal ordering deposition. Order here: https://t.co/uau6RgtgED 1/ pic.twitter.com/ifcFSf8f6w — Michael Li (@mcpli) October 23, 2018 “Two justices – Neil Gorsuch and Clarence Thomas – dissented in part to make clear that they would have absolved other government officials as well from what they termed an ‘inquisition,’” USA Today reported . More than two dozen cities and states filed lawsuits to try to remove the question. A trial had already been scheduled to start Nov. 5 – the day before Election Day – in New York. Monday night’s decision wasn’t a total victory for Trump. While the Supreme Court overturned the lower courts’ rulings on the Census question, “The administration’s request to temporarily block other lower court orders for the lawsuits, however, were not successful,” NPR reported . “The Supreme Court is allowing the plaintiffs’ attorneys to question Justice Department official John Gore, who leads the department’s civil rights division that the administration says needs the citizenship question to better enforce the Voting Right Act. Document requests from the plaintiffs can also move forward as the start date for the first potential trial over the citizenship question draws closer.” The ruling also paved the way for the president to further enforce his immigration laws that have disproportionately affected Black and brown non-U.S. citizens; policies that have torn families apart at the border, separating thousands of children from parents with no real plan in place to reunite them all. Trump appears to be hindering 2020 Census accuracy. Here's why it matters. https://t.co/5DqKxuE965 pic.twitter.com/uDBEBLWZww — NewsOne (@newsone) September 1, 2017 “President Trump is adding the citizenship question into his toxic stew of racist rants and draconian policies in order to stoke fear,” Sarah Brannon, a managing attorney with the ACLU,  said in June. The ruling was also so crucial because the Census is used to tally an accurate headcount of people living in the U.S. But now, with the renewed threat of surveillance and deportation, it was doubtful many, if any, noncitizens would participate. Of the roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants in America, just about 600,000 of them were Black, according to the most recent statistics by the  Migration Policy Institute . The consequences of not having full Census participation could be catastrophic for cities, states, businesses, households and, of course, individuals, according to the Brookings Institute. “Without an accurate Census, many states and cities will be denied the full funding they deserve and need, and the federal government will have to fly blind for a decade across a range of important areas,” the think tank wrote in a blog post last year when talk of the 2020 Census hit a fever pitch. But it was the overall racial implications for Black people in particular that were tough to ignore. NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson summed them neatly in an op-ed he wrote for NewsOne in March. The implications of an ill-prepared census on African-Americans could be devastating. @NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson @DerrickNAACP explains so we can all be aware. https://t.co/pO3o11SIZb #census2020 #Census pic.twitter.com/8Lm3FItME6 — NewsOne (@newsone) March 30, 2018 “In the 200 plus years since its first inception, the United States census has often provided a racist, biased and erroneous count of people of color in America,” Johnson wrote. “If care is not taken, the 2020 Census is gearing up to be much of the same.” Famous last words. Rat Cow the Sex Working Women’s Rights Activist of the Day

Rat Cow went to some bullshit protest, because an uneducated set of tits has an opinion on the world and is trying to make a difference, because it’s trendy and a way for her to get into the media for more than just her tits.. Her caption: Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault. Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power. Maybe she just wants to show you all the evolution of her face injections… It is funny to me to see, because she literally went viral at the right time – due to her tits. The relationship between her fame or audience that brands pay to reach on her social media and her tits is LINEAR. There is no other reason she exists…TITS ONLY….TITS HERE…TITS GET HITS…. So a girl who is a new wave sex worker, from social media, sex working, fighting for the rights of women to be heard, who only is rich because men like tits…is almost disrespectful to her audience. It’s her saying “I don’t need you guys who make me exist, I’m a feminist, girl power”….not that any of are against feminists or rationalizing your tits as some higher purpose than jsut flashing tits. We encourage it…. But why alienate the audience, and accept that you are just tits… All this tells me is the extent a girl will go to prove to herself she’s not a whore when she knows she’s a whore…and the only reason she’s a whore is for personal gain… She will alienate her audience and take a stance no one cares about hearing, cuz they just want to see her tits. Even women don’t care about what this slut has to say and know she only exists cuz of her tits. She’s not inspiring, or interesting, or even qualified to protest anything. I firmly believe that you can’t just spin your storyline, because America has gone down some weird confusing path, cuz you know if it went down another path, and it did when everyone started getting naked, she was up on that… She worked and shot with accused sex offenders….she didn’t care…but now she cares…get the fuck over yourself you shapeshifting groupie trend following twat and realize that a Ho. Is a Ho. Is a Ho. That’s the trade she made for fame and fortune when she decided to live her life as a Ho…a deal with the devil or whatever… So her intellectualizing it, or making it political, or higher purposes, when she’s go nothing but big tits in our face to say about it, that’s all the public who even know who this low level is….is just her narcissism and ego screaming that she’s more than just tits. People are fucking crazy. How can she believe she’s anything more than a set of tits, who fucked Affleck and Fincher for a movie gig. CRAZY. I mean…I guess she’s getting what she wants in terms of media attention, which it is all about when you are clickbait. Oh and this…. Now her tits – cuz she’s a whore… The post Rat Cow the Sex Working Women’s Rights Activist of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

What Stevie Wonder Has To Say About Bill Cosby Might Surprise You…Or Not

Stevie Wonder Responds To Bill Cosby’s Prison Sentencing Stevie Wonder is not happy about Bill Cosby ‘s sentencing, y’all…not happy at all. On Tuesday, September 25, the famed actor was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in state prison for the 2004 drugging and sexual assault of Andrea Constand. Cosby, being the medically ill celebrity he is, was given a single cell to start out with, but the prison’s long-term goal is to get him into general population, slumming it like everyone else, CBS News reports. After all his rights were stripped eweh, everybody and their mama has had something to say about Cosby , taking to social media to share their thoughts on whether or not he did it, the timing of the allegations, and if he should be imprisoned at the ripe old age of 81. Stevie Wonder is the latest to chime in with his two cents and it doesn’t sound like he thinks his ol’ pal should be in jail. Stevie was leaving LAX on Tuesday, right after the actor’s sentencing, when he told TMZ that he’s praying for Cosby. The icon even spoke on how much an inspiration Cosby has been to those around him—you know, besides the drugs and sexual assault and all… “You know what? I just pray for everybody,” Stevie started out. When asked if he thought a sentencing of 3 to 10 years was fair, Stevie responded “I don’t like prisons.” When asked if he thought Cosby should’ve went to prison at all, he responded “I respect the work that he’s done and his career as an artist…I think he inspired a lot of people…and I just pray that God will give him mercy.” Fair enough? Or, should Stevie have taken a tougher stance, as Cosby was deemed a “sexually violent predator?”  In an earlier report, TMZ stated that Cosby’s new digs are in a maximum security prison where he will be allowed phone calls and visitation “consistent with prison policies.” In other words, he is locked UP up .

Adam Lind: Did He Sign Over His Parental Rights for Aubree?

Adam Lind is … well, he's not a good person, for a whole lot of reasons. He has several problems, and don't worry, we'll do a quick review on them, but as a result of all of these issues, he recently gave up his rights to his youngest child. It's sad in many, many ways. But what about Aubree? 1. Ugh OK, so Adam is doing so hot these days. 2. Well … He’s always been a jerk … remember when Chelsea had just given birth to Aubree and he texted her to call her a “fat stretch mark bitch”? 3. So Awful He also wrote “tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake,” which is particularly heartbreaking, considering what just happened with his parental rights. 4. Hold Up But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, all right? 5. Bad Boy Adam’s been getting arrested for years now because he’s always had trouble with following the law and being a considerate person. 6. Why Though? For a while, his arrests were mostly based on his complete inability to follow the rules of the road — rules like “don’t drive drunk” and “don’t drive without a license.” View Slideshow

Model Monday: Lashira Moné Looks Past The Struggle

Agency: Seeking Representation Instagram: @lashiramone Claim to Fame: Mone’ was a finalist in Miss Maryland USA . She was also featured in a major campaign for Macy’s .  Modeling comes with a lifetime of rejection. Casting calls dash more dreams than they fulfill and constantly being told they don’t fit into someone’s else vision can discourage even the most passionate of young women. Luckily Lashira Moné isn’t easily discouraged. The Baltimore native was a finalist in 2017’s Miss Maryland USA pageant and while she might not have gone home with the title she achieved what she set out to accomplish by using her time in the pageant to highlight issues that hit close to home. “I wanted to create a platform for not only myself, but for others where I could inspire them to know their self-worth and build confidence in themselves”, Moné tells Hello Beautiful . She revealed that she was inspired to do so “after being bullied in middle school, struggling with confidence, and courage .” While Moné describes herself as “shy” that hasn’t stopped her from stepping forward in an effort to make her dreams come true even if she had to take those steps on her own . “I started traveling to model calls , go sees, fashion shows , and photoshoots, and networking events all by myself”, shared Mone’. “Most of the time I would get “NOs” but that never stopped me, it pushed me to continue on my journey .” “Once I started understanding who I was and who I could eventually grow to, I started testing the waters”, says Moné. One of the ways the model, who has now been featured in Macy’s campaigns , fashion segments on CBS, and walked in Small Boutique Fashion Week , is testing the waters is by stepping behind the camera. Her experience as a photographer affords her a new perspective on what designers are looking for and allows her to create invaluable relationships within the fashion and beauty industries. She says, “From stepping out on faith I met so many people and has been getting so many amazing opportunities.” She is looking forward to using those opportunities not only to improve her own life but to show others that there’s life after bullying and self-doubt. She says, “I want to leave my mark as an inspiration to others.” DON’T MISS:  MODEL MONDAY: Michell L. Adam Lind Signs Over His Parental Rights, Is Really Just the Worst

OK, so Adam Lind is a truly awful person with zero redeeming qualities. We all know this, and we’ve known it for a very, very long time. It would take forever to list all the ways he is the worst, but let’s at least go through a rundown of his greatest hits, all right? The world was unfortuantely introduced to him because he impregnated Chelsea Houska, who had her own episode of 16 and Pregnant and then went on to be one of the mothers featured in Teen Mom 2. They shared an adorable daughter, Aubree, but it was clear from the beginning that he was not exactly the world’s best dad . Or a dad at all, really. He wasn’t around too much after Aubree was born, or ever, as far as we saw. He and Chelsea broke up, then got back together, and so on and so forth. He was really cruel to her and obviously wasn’t too interested in their kid, but still, she kept taking him back pretty much until she met Cole DeBoer, an actual good person and now, her husband . At some point in that mess, he also began seeing Taylor Halbur, and he had a baby with her, too — a precious little girl they named Paislee. Adam wasn’t around for her, either, and it’s since become clear why. As it turns out, he has a pretty big problem with addiction and domestic violence. He’s been arrested plenty of times for DUIs and driving without a license, that sort of thing, but last year, he failed a court-ordered drug test. Because of meth. Yep, Adam was doing lots and lots of meth , and although he’s not on Teen Mom 2 anymore and hasn’t been for a while, we really don’t have any reason to believe he ever stopped. He was also arrested more than once last year on domestic violence charges — his most recent ex, Stasia Huber stated in court documents that he broke her arm when he was high , then locked her in the house and destroyed her phone. In other court documents for another case, Taylor claimed that he once killed two of her puppies , and that on another ocasion, he knocked her to the ground when she was holding Paislee. So meth, breaking girlfriend’s arms, killing girlfriend’s puppies … how can it get any worse? Oh, just you wait! In one of Adam’s earliest appearances on MTV, he sent a text to Chelsea, who had just given birth to Aubree, to call her a “fat stretch mark bitch.” He also wrote “tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake,” and by “that mistake,” he meant their baby. Now, all these years later, he actually did sign his rights over. Not for Aubree, but for his other daughter, Paislee. Yesterday, Taylor took Adam to court to get things done, as reported by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup. It was hardly the first time Taylor took Adam to court — they’ve been many times to deal with custody arrangements, child support, visitation — but it was the last. According to the report, Adam was asked several questions by the judge before everything was made official, and he was required to state that he knew his decision was permanent, and that from here on out, he’d have no rights to Paislee. He did, and just like that, he signed away his rights to his youngest child. As a bit of a happy ending to all of this, South Dakota state law requires that when parental rights are terminated, the rights get transferred to someone else, or to some authorized agency. That was no big deal though, because Taylor’s husband adopted Paislee! He’s been in Paislee’s life for a long time, and it seems like he’s been her dad during all that time anyway, it’s just official now. Unfortunately, this doesn’t affect anything with Aubree. If Chelsea wants Adam to terminate his parental rights to her, too, then she’ll have to get her own court date. But in the past, she’s often followed Taylor’s lead — Taylor got a visitation center involved for Adam long before Chelsea did, for example — and they do speak with each other. We have a feeling that if she wanted to do this, too, then Cole would happily adopt Aubree . View Slideshow: Teen Mom Dads, Husbands & Boyfriends Ranked: Who’s #1?! Honestly, it’s probably only a matter of time until that happens. Can Adam get any lower than this?
