According to CNN , the now 31-year-old was sentenced to life in prison when she was only 16 after killing a man who paid her for sex. In January, she was granted clemency by then-Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, according to the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Now, Cyntoia is finally returning to a life outside bars. “I look forward to using my experiences to help other women and girls suffering abuse and exploitation,” Brown said after being released on Wednesday. Brown’s case drew national attention over the years with activists, lawmakers and even celebrities like Rihanna bringing attention to her case. The hashtag #FreeCyntoiaBrown even went viral on social media back in 2017 . Brown will be coming out with a bachelor’s degree and she’s collaborated with Tennessee’s Juvenile Justice System to help advise young people who are at risk. “She is light years today, as a woman, different from the traumatized 16-year-old that she was,” Derri Smith, CEO and founder of non-profit End Slavery Tennessee, said back in January. “She’s mentoring troubled youth, working on her college degree, she is planning a nonprofit so she can help other young people.” Congrats to Cyntoia and hopefully we can expect more great things!

While Yung Miami didn’t give us an exact release date for Part 2, last year’s first installment dropped on August 30th–so they could release this follow-up on the same date. It’s also a good possibility that the release of the film will line up with JT’s release from jail–the exact date of which is still up in the air. Just a few months after doing his first post-prison show in a hot minute, TMZ is reporting that Dark Man X is also getting back on his Hollywood grind and will be taking on the role of a homicide detective in the upcoming film Chronicle of A Serial Killer . The movie features Brendan Sexton as a serial murderer … and DMX is playing Detective White, who’s trying to track down the killer. Tara Reid , Eric Roberts and Aly Mang are also starring in the film. X was able to land the role after Michael Madsen ( Kill Bill ) caught a DUI charge in Malibu back in April and was booted from the film. The director, Steve Stanulis , tells TMZ … when his casting director suggested X for the role, he knew it was a perfect fit, and the rapper didn’t even have to audition. Steve says he has no doubt DMX is “going to bring a different dynamic to the role.” Judging from the fact that Tara Reid is considered a lead in the film, we’re guessing that Chronicle of A Serial Killer will be a straight to DVD or TV production, but we can’t hate at all.
