‘Jersey Shore’ Star Pauly D ‘Nervous’ About Heading To Italy

By James Montgomery Pauly D Photo: Tom Briglia/ FilmMagic On Tuesday, MTV announced that for the upcoming season of “Jersey Shore,” the cast would be hitting the road once again … only this time, they’re heading all the way to Italy. If you think you’re excited about the news, well, you should hear “Shore” star Pauly D talk about the gang’s upcoming trip. “I’ve never been to Italy, and it’s always been a dream of mine,” he told MTV News Tuesday night. “I’m excited to see my roots. I have family in Italy, but I don’t speak with them since I don’t know the language. My mother still talks to them, though. [And] I know Vinnie has family there. But none of us have ever been. It’s gonna be fun.” Of course, no voyage of self-discovery is complete without overcoming a few obstacles. So while he’s excited, Pauly is also aware that he and his “Shore” mates will probably run into the occasional, uh, cultural issues when they arrive in Italy. But he’s more than ready for the challenge. “I’m nervous, I’m not gonna lie,” he laughed. “I don’t know what gyms are like over there, I don’t know what tanning’s like, I don’t know the food, and the language — I don’t even speak Italian. Maybe I should get a Rosetta Stone or something. “And they got some nice clubs out there, and the women … they’re real Italian women, you know?” he continued. “Since I don’t speak the language, I don’t know how I’m going to talk with them. I’m hoping the smile does the trick. The less words the better. I’m looking forward to the challenge.” Despite the cultural differences and the language barrier, Pauly said that he can’t wait to start filming the new season — cameras are scheduled to start rolling this spring — mostly because it means he’ll get to hit the road with his best friends, which, to him, at least, is the best thing about being on “Jersey Shore.” “I really love being in Seaside [Heights], I love being in Jersey and I love being at home,” he said. “But I also love traveling, and with this, I get to travel with my lifelong friends and that’s another memory we’ll all have together.” Related Photos Jersey Shore | Back To Jersey | Cast Photos

Garrett Hedlund Recalls Last Night Of ‘On The Road’

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Garrett Hedlund Photo: MTV News Garrett Hedlund might have been treated to Kristen Stewart’s cooking during the filming of “On the Road,” but it was another memorable meal that the “Country Strong” star recalled from the last night of working on the film that sounds like it could have been pulled right from the Jack Kerouac novel. “It’s all kind of a blur,” he told MTV News. “The last night that I was in San Francisco, Carolyn Cassady, who’s the actual Camille in the book, she’s 89 years old [and she] came down to San Francisco to meet with us. A lot of the family members came down and we got to all have dinner together.” What Hedlund most wondered was if he would pass the test to play the role. “You’re wondering if you’re going to be so harshly, critically judged,” he recalled. ” … She was just so wonderful and so genuine to all of us and so happy to be there. At the end of the dinner, me and Sam Riley … walked her hand in hand up to Vesuvio’s, the bar where all these guys used to drink at. I remember the sole of her shoe had sort of come undone and started flapping, but I took off my boot and took off one of the socks and put it over the shoe so it intacted the sole. So we kept on walking. It’s such an incredible, mind-blowing night.” That night was a culmination of all the hard work Hedlund and the crew had put into taking such a beloved text and adapting it for the big screen. ” ‘On the Road’ has been the last sort of four years of my life. It’s been doing the research,” he said. “I just feel it’s just an honor to be able to play Dean Moriarty and Neal Cassady and such a rich, rare character. Kristen Stewart Is An ‘Incredible’ Cook, Garrett Hedlund Says

By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Garrett Hedlund Photo: MTV News Kristen Stewart loves to cook, and it seems that her co-stars love to try her creations. When MTV News caught up with “Country Strong” and “On the Road” star Garrett Hedlund, he only had the nicest things to say about Stewart’s culinary abilities. “You got to try the tortilla soup!” he raved. “It’s incredible. She’s honed it.” Back in October, Stewart opened up about cooking for Hedlund and the rest of the “On the Road” cast, noting that her best dish was the tortilla soup. “I didn’t bake; I cooked a lot, though. I was the only girl on set,” she said. “I think I can do a really, really good, terrific tortilla soup. That was my ‘On the Road’ dish.” Stewart has also thrown big bashes for her pals, proving that her cooking goes far beyond just soup. “I get really embarrassed when people ask me what I cook, for some reason,” she recalled of a dinner party she threw last year. “I shouldn’t say that I cook anymore. There was like a big BBQ situation and, like, a bunch of steaks and veggies, and I made chicken piccata. I’m so embarrassed right now. But I made homemade marinara sauce starting at, like, 2 in the afternoon. It wasn’t done until 8. It was incredible. The ‘Twilight’ cast showed up.” In the past, Taylor Lautner revealed some of Stewart’s other delicious dishes . “Like, OK, you know kumquats?” he asked. “There’s apparently a fruit called loquats. Yeah, I didn’t know either. And she made a loquat pie.” With all this talk about Stewart’s cooking abilities, does Hedlund have any skills in the kitchen? “I’m pretty much a klutz in the kitchen. Keyshia Cole Eyeing Tour With Nicki Minaj

The “Long Way Down” songstress took to Ustream on Tuesday, when her album dropped, to chop it up with fans, and mentioned she plans to head out on a trek in the spring but hasn’t yet decided on an R&B-heavy tour roster or a hip-hop/soul outing alongside Young Money diva Nicki Minaj . “[I’ll go on tour] in March. We’ll probably start promoting sometime in January, probably the end of January. We’re trying to figure out who I’m gonna go on the road with. I had a conversation with Monica about a week ago about it and I told her I would love for her to come, and Faith [Evans] and Melanie Fiona and also Tank — just to add some kind of other flavor in there. But if not, if we don’t do that tour, then it will probably be me and Nicki Minaj,” she said. “I mean, I would love to go out with Nicki, so we’ll see which one happens.” The songstress also opened about her relationship with her “I Ain’t Thru” collaborator, Minaj , explaining that the two can relate due to their hardscrabble backgrounds. Cole, who is four albums into her career, said she often doles out props to Minaj as the lyricist continues her ascent to superstardom. “We’re cool, we’re buddies,” she said. “I see things on TV and I just call her to say congratulations, and stuff like that. I’ll send her an email. I think she’s great. I got love for Nicki. To be honest, she’s a young girl that comes up the same kind of way I came up. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lady Gaga Photo: Paul Morigi/ WireImage Lady Gaga’s French fans will have to wait to check out the singer rock “Bad Romance” due to some bad weather. The superstar’s Monster Ball Tour was slated to hit Paris’ Bercy venue on Sunday (December 19), but severe weather derailed the pop megastar’s plans. According a translation of a press release posted on the theater’s website , Gaga’s Sunday show was cancelled because of a ban barring heavy vehicles over 7.5 tons from hitting the road in dicey conditions. Gaga tweeted that French authorities had taken custody of her caravan for over a day and arrested two members of her camp when the crew arrived for the Paris date. “All 28 of my trucks for the Monsterball were detained by the French government going on over 26 hrs, 2 of my employees were arrested trying to get into Paris so we could perform,” she tweeted . “I am furious and devastated, its unfair to my fans and to me.” Gaga added that she tried to tone down the theatrics but was told a lack of production resources ruled out the option of a simpler version of the elaborate stage show. “I asked if I could do a stripped version of show, but there would be no sound or power source, its all been detained,” she wrote . “I’m so sorry,angry+sad.” The songstress, who famously hates ditching appearances , apologized for not being able to hit the stage. “I love Paris + I love my French fans. I’m sorry little monsters. A photo of storm, I’m stuck on bus,” she wrote, tweeting a snapshot of the grey weather. The theater maintained that the Monday show will go on as planned, but could not confirm if the Sunday date will be officially moved to Tuesday. What do you think of Gaga’s show being cancelled? By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Garrett Hedlund Photo: MTV News While Garrett Hedlund isn’t exactly a household name yet, filmgoers will soon be very familiar with him via his two new projects “Tron Legacy” and “Country Strong,” not to mention the upcoming “On the Road” film. When MTV News caught up with the busy man recently, we asked him about the recent uptick in his career — beginning with landing that coveted role in “On the Road.” “It’s the hardest I’ve ever had to work, which is a very good sign,” Hedlund said about the big-screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s tour-de-beatnik classic. “It’s the greatest experience of my lifetime — well, these last couple years have [been]. All these mean so much to me ,with ‘Tron Legacy’ and the world getting to see [‘Tron’ director] Joseph Kosinski for the first time, who I feel is the next great visionary genius,” he said. “For ‘Country Strong,’ I worked six months on the guitar to get that down and to play a country singer with Gwyneth [Paltrow] and that gets to showcase Shana Feste’s incredible talents as a writer/director, because she’s just miraculous. “Now with ‘On the Road,’ getting to work with Walter Salles, who I owe such a tremendous amount to because he gives me so much,” he explained of the “Motorcycle Diaries” director. “He fulfills me with so much other people haven’t been able to do, and he does it so simply.” Hedlund went on to say that “Road” will be full color not black-and-white, which had been rumored, and he called the experience, fittingly, “a long journey.” Regarding Kristen Stewart, Hedlund had nothing but the highest compliments to pay his co-star. “[She is] incredible, and in this, everyone is going to get to see how hard a worker she is, the devotion that she puts into her work,” Hedlund enthused. “And her performance is going to be exposed highly in this.” Hedlund added that the entire cast is packed with talent. “Everybody, Sam Riley is phenomenal, we’ve had a lot of wonderful surprises in having people like Viggo Mortenson, Amy Adams, Elisabeth Moss join us,” he said. “Most recently, Steve Buscemi and Terrence Howard.
