I send my love and offer prayers of grace and peace to the members of her family, her friends and colleagues who walked alongside her and shared her with tens of millions of fans around the world. I have so many fond memories of Aretha. Throughout her career, I was blessed to share her music and her iconic story. I am humbled to have been a part of her journey and to have served as an eyewitness to the evolution of her artistry and the formation of her legacy. For more than 60 years, Aretha Franklin shared her gift and touched the world. She was a musical pioneer whose voice defines an era, amplifies a sound and reflects the range of who we are as black people. Paul is best known for his work as the drummer in the bands Pantera and Hellyeah. No further details are available at this time. The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time. Paul helped create Pantera in the 1980s, along with his brother, guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. Their father a famous country and western songwriter and producer named Jerry Abbott. The group enjoyed mainstream success with second lead singer Phil Anselmo. Throughout its career, Pantera earned four Grammy nominations and charted nine albums on the Billboard 200, including its 1994 album Far Beyond Driven, which debuted atop the chart at the time of its release. After Pantera split up, the Abbott siblings formed Damageplan in 2003. However, the band was performing in December 2004 when Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed onstage during a concert in Columbus, Ohio. It’s been almost a year since the world first learned that Ben Affleck and Lindsey Shookus are dating , and these days, the couple is reportedly ready to take the next step together. Unfortunately, there are some sizable barriers blocking their path. According to a new report from Entertainment Tonight Lindsey is seeking a commitment from Ben, who seems hesitant to pop the question. But to his credit, there’s a very good reason for that: “Lindsay and Ben are very much in love,” a source tells the outlet. “During Ben and Jennifer [Garner’s] split, Lindsay truly felt villainized. Every day she spent with Ben out in the world for people to see felt like another day of public scrutiny, but her love for Ben was worth it,” the insider adds. “They both learned to stick by each other during those painful months.” See, therein lies the issue. The source makes it sound like Affleck and Garner’s split was an ugly chapter in their lives that’s now over and done with. But the fact is Ben and Jen still aren’t divorced . Yes, despite the fact Affleck and Garner have been separated for three years, they’re still legally married. We’re sure that’s primarily because of legal and financial entanglements, but still … Lindsay probably isn’t too thrilled about the situation. The insider adds that Ben and Lindsay are planning to spend their lives together, but have thus far avoided any public discussion of marriage: “Ben has worked incredibly hard on his sobriety and Lindsay has been his rock. On this past Tuesday night’s episode of Little People, Big World, Matt Roloff made headlines for something he is NOT going to do. After giving it much consideration and speaking to his loved ones about the possibility, Roloff decided not to run for political office . But the veteran TLC personality also revealed something else about himself on this same installment, something that it sounds like he WILL be doing in the near future. And that something is this: Marrying Caryn Chandler! This is mere speculation on our part at the moment, although there have been rumors flying around for weeks that Roloff is engaged to Chandler , who formerly worked as his family’s farm manager. Lost in the aforementioned political talk from the latest episode of this reality series, however, is something the Roloff patriarch said about his girlfriend of over a year. “Caryn and I are looking to invest in property [in Arizona],” Matt said on air, confirming our report that he’ll be moving down south for at least part of the year . This is the first time Roloff has acknowledged that Chandler is a key aspect of that plan, however. And he wasn’t done talking about the couple’s clearly very serious future. “Amy and I have a lot of assets in the farm, so it’s really important that I start investing some of my personal money off the farm and really just having my own path that’s separate from Amy,” Matt continued, adding: “I feel very committed to Caryn. “Caryn and I are going on this adventure together, we are on this great track. So the idea of us having a vacation home that we share together, it’s interesting. “I think we are going to take our relationship to the next level.” There it is. The next level . This may mean an engagement. This may simply mean co-habitating with each other. But, either way, it’s the latest sign that Chandler will be in Matt’s life for a long, long time going forward. This has caused some tension between Matt and Amy, naturally, because they were married for 26 years and have four kids together. They also co-own the farm we cited above and Amy was pretty close to Chandler before she started to date her ex-husband. Amy, meanwhile, is involved with Chris Marek . This relationship is also pretty serious. However, unlike Matt with Caryn, Amy said on a recent episode that she will not really consider Marek when pondering her next step in life. “Chris is an important person in my life, but I have no set agenda – or time limit – on how we move forward,” she said. Amy went on to admit that she has also considered a move off the farm, regardless of whether she ends up with Marek for good or not: “I mean, look how much stuff I still have to figure out in my life. “So until I solidify certain other things that are going on in my life, I don’t want Chris to get involved.” Interesting contrast between Roloffs here, huh? OK, so it’s not exactly news that Meghan Markle is gorgeous and amazing and all-around delightful, right? Well, actually it is technically news, since here we are. Maybe we should say that it’s not a surprise that Meghan would show up to her first royal event post-honeymoon looking like a radiant, divine goddess . Because it’s true, it’s not a surprise, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to see pictures and know literally every detail about everything! OK, so Meghan and Prince Harry just got back from their honeymoon, right? They postponed it until a bit after their actual wedding so they could do a different event, but then they went to an undisclosed location — many say they planned a trip to Africa, some say Ireland, some say Canada. But wherever it was, they went, surely had a lovely, sexy time, and now they’re back home. Us peasants usually enjoying a few days to recuperate from such big vacations, but the whole thing about Harry and now Meghan is that they’re not peasants. They’re literal royalty, and that’s why they had to dress up this morning and do a big birthday thing for the queen. And just look at how great she looked : If you’re not familiar with all the ins and outs of royal tradition, the event is called Trooping the Colour, and it’s been around for centuries. It’s basically a big birthday parade for the sovereign, and it’s been held in June for many, many years now — Queen Elizabeth’s actual birthday is in April. Everybody gets in carriages, there’s a royal salute, the whole family stands on the balcony and waves at everyone who’s gathered around to watch. It’s this big thing every year, but this is the first year that Meghan’s participated. And, as we previously mentioned, she looked so, so amazing. Her dress, that beautiful pink number, is a Caroline Herrera, and the hat is by Phillip Treacy, natch. It’s interesting because with this look, Meghan has once again broken that pesky royal protocol. Yep, even though she is pretty much the picture of class here, it’s apparently a bit immodest when compared against the traditional wardrobe to this event. For reference, Kate Middleton has never worn sleeves that come above her elbows to a Trooping the Colour, and if you want to go even further back, Diana never did, either. It’s not the first time she’s gone against the usual royal lady fashion guide, either — she often wears her hair messier than other princesses before her, for instance. In those beautiful engagement photos she and Harry did , she wasn’t wearing nude pantyhose — another no-no — and even her gorgeous wedding dress was a bit off-the-shoulder, too. While the world continues to come to grips with the loss of Anthony Bourdan, a key new detail regarding the celebrity chef’s death has been made official. Bourdain, of course, tragically took his own life on Friday . His body was discovered in a French hotel room by close friend Eric Ripert, who had been filming a new episode of CNN’s Parts Unknown with Bourdan in Ripert’s native country. Those who have followed this sad story closely already knew that Bourdain killed himself via hanging, and they already knew his death took place in the aforementioned hotel room. But French officials have now confirmed two more critical pieces of information: Bourdain hanged himself in the hotel room’s bathroom. He used the belt from his bathrobe to do so. Prosecutor Christian de Rocquigny also says that there are no signs of foul play. There are no indications anyone had entered Bourdain’s room at the luxury Le Chambard Hotel any time close to the beloved star’s passing. This should effectively end all official inquiries into Bourdain’s death. Questions will continue to be asked about Bourdain’s state of mind and mental history and what could have possibly caused him to make such a heartbreaking decision. But there are not many more practical details related to his suicide that remain uncovered. The French prosecutor did add in his report that toxicology tests were being carried out, including urine tests, to determine if Bourdain was on any medications at the time of his hanging. Said CNN in a statement yesterday morning: It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdains. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time. Bourdain had premiered Parts Unknown on the networkin 2013 and won a Peabody Award shortly thereafter. He was widely respected for the way he paid tribute on his show to a wide variety of cultures and countries. Tweeted Italian actress Asia Argento, Bourdain’s girlfriend of about a year, hours after news of the chef’s death went viral: “Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did. His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds. ” He was my love, my rock, my protector . I am beyond devastated. My thoughts are with his family. I would ask that you respect their privacy and mine.” Bourdain leaves behind an 11-year old daughter from his second marriage. He was 61 years old at the time of his death. His final act came three days after fashion designer Kate Spade also killed herself ; she did so by hanging herself in her New York City apartment. In response to these developments, the Mental Health Association of New York tells TMZ that its hotline has experienced a 25% increase in call volume compared to this time last week. The number has been shared by number of celebrities on social media, which the organization says has resulted in more people “being aware of the resource and calling the Lifeline to get help.” It’s simply awful that it took the suicides of two respected global figures for this to happen. But perhaps some solace can be found in the silver lining that people with mental health struggles are taking the necerssary measures to make sure they don’t end up like Bourdain, Spade and so many others.
