Mitt Romney Apologizes For High School Pranks, Denies Bullying Gay Students

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney apologized for alleged pranks he pulled in high school, but denied they constituted bullying of gay students. A Washington Post piece insinuated that pranks the likely GOP nominee pulled during his years at a Michigan all-boys high school targeted his gay peers. Romney admitted during a radio interview that he did some “dumb things” but that “homosexuality was the furthest thing from his mind” in school. He laughed off most the 45 year-old anecdotes during the radio interview. “I’m not going to be too concerned,” he said. “I played a lot of pranks in high school and they describe some that, well, you just say to yourself … in high school I did some dumb things and if anybody was hurt by that, or offended, obviously I apologize.” “But, overall, high school years were a long time ago ,” said Romney. Asked if he remembered cutting the hair of one of his classmates at the Cranbook School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., who was “presumed” to be gay because the candidate did not like his long hairstyle, Romney responded, “You know, I don’t.” “I don’t remember that incident,” Romney said, noting, “homosexuality was the furthest thing from my mind back in the 1960s, so that was not the case.” “As for pranks, I don’t remember them all, but again, you know, [in my] high school days I did of stupid things. I’m afraid I gotta say sorry for it.” Romney asserted several times that the Post article noted that the students who reported having pranks played on them “didn’t come out of the closet until years later,” suggesting that the pranks couldn’t be motivated by homophobia. Despite his opposition to gay marriage , a more moderate Romney made overtures to the gay community as a candidate for office in the past.

Mitt Romney Reaffirms Opposition to Gay Marriage

In the wake of President Obama’s support for gay marriage , his all-but-certain Republican foe in the 2012 presidential election reaffirmed that he is opposed to it. Mitt Romney said he is opposed to both civil unions and same-sex marriage, in fact. The former Massachusetts governor told Denver Fox affiliate KDVR-TV: “Well, when these issues were raised in my state of Massachusetts, I indicated my view, which is I do not favor marriage between people of the same gender, and I do not favor civil unions if they are identical to marriage other than by name.” “My view is the domestic partnership benefits, hospital visitation rights, and the like are appropriate but that the others are not,” added Romney. Obama’s support came following Tuesday’s passage of North Carolina Amendment One, a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships, and Vice President Joe Biden support for gay marriage. He made the end of his “evolution” on the topic official in an interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts, which aired on Good Morning America today. “Over the course of several years, I have talked to friends and family and neighbors, and I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together,” he said. “When I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.” President Obama on Gay Marriage As the Republican nominee, Mitt Romney supports a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman, according to the National Organization for Marriage pledge he signed. He also pledged to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court, in contrast to the Obama administration, which does not defend DOMA as it thinks the 1996 law banning federal recognition of gay marriage is unconstitutional. After the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that gays had the right to marry in 2003, Romney initially said he would follow the ruling while seeking a constitutional amendment to overturn it. Ultimately, he used a variety of tactics to try to block the ruling, unsuccessfully. If the election were today …

Athletes & Hoes: Stalker Walks Onto The Court During Lakers/Nuggest Game Asking “Where Is Kenyon?” [Video]

Kenyon Martin is probably thankful he no longer plays in Denver right now! A woman, who some say previously stalked Martin walked onto the court during the Lakers/Nuggest playoffs game in Denver Sunday asking “Where is Kenyon,” before officials could stop her. Here’s the details: In a strange scene toward the end of Sunday’s Los Angeles Lakers Game 4 win over the Denver Nuggets, a misguided attendee decided to waltz onto the court just before halftime. According to local police and the Denver Post and Yahoo! Sports, 20-year-old Savannah McMillan-Christmas was immediately arrested for trespassing, released and will appear in court Monday. The woman, who nearly made it to the 3-point line from her courtside seat, apparently has some alleged history with the Denver Nuggets before. Here’s Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears, who tweeted from the game: Kurt Schwartzkopf, chief marketing officer at the Pepsi Center said the woman did not appear intoxicated, but was disoriented. He said the woman was picked up and taken home by her mother. Jackson said it was off-duty Denver officers at the game who cited McMillan and escorted her out. TNT reported that the woman had been banned from Pepsi Center in the past for stalking a former Nugget player. Yahoo Sports reported that she stalked Kenyon Martin when he was with the team. For Discussion: Former DNC Chair Says Women And Latinos Are Terrified Of The GOP, Call Michele Bachmann “Ridiculous”

Howard Dean Says Women And Latinos Are Terrified By The GOP Any women here plan on voting for Mitt Romney?? Former Vermont Governor Howard Dean said Sunday that the policies promoted by the Republican Party have women and Latinos “terrified.” “Women are terrified of what the Republicans are talking about. They’re talking about basically stripping away their ability to have insurance pay for their birth control pills,” Dean said on “Face the Nation.” “Latinos are terrified of the Republicans, because they seem to have a total tin ear when it comes to the basic needs of treating people with dignity. “For Michele Bachmann to go on there and claim that women are going to vote for Mitt Romney is perfectly ridiculous,” Dean said, referring to the Republican congresswoman who also appeared on “Face the Nation” Sunday. Dean also suggested that “the average American thinks that Mitt Romney doesn’t care about them. Here’s a guy who’s building, during a campaign, a mansion in Malibu with an elevator for his car,” Dean said to Bob Schieffer. “He had a Swiss bank account and he invests in the Cayman Islands. I don’t think we’ve ever elected a president who has invested in the Cayman Islands as a tax dodge before. “This candidacy is a shipwreck”, Dean said, “and for Michele Bachmann to go on there and claim that woman are going to vote for Mitt Romney is perfectly ridiculous.” Responding to Bachmann’s charge that President Obama will be running on a record of “broken promises,” Dean defended the president, saying he has been successful in both the economy and foreign policy. “I think we’ve made some real progress,” he said. “Osama Bin Laden is dead. We have our troops out of Iraq. Our troops are coming out of Afghanistan. These are things that are important to the United States.” The former governor added: “The fact of the matter is that Barack Obama has created jobs, 4 million of them since he became President. The economy is in much better shape than it was when he took office.” “I think that’s a pretty good record for President Obama to run on.” Thoughts on this?? Sidenote: $MH at “Money” Mitt Romney. He got it all the way poppin!!!! Source

Mitt Romney Raps to Eminem in Hilarious Mash-Up

Mitt Romney. Eminem. We never thought those two people would be used in the same THG headline, but one epic music video parody has united them at last. This amazing mash-up of Mitt Romney quotes and Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” takes dead aim at the presidential candidate’s flip-flopping reputation. President Barack Obama and Mitt’s all-but-dispatched GOP rival, Newt Gingrich, also make cameos in “The Real Mitt Romney,” which is a must-see … Will The Real Mitt Romney Please Stand Up (Ft. Eminem) Oxford student Hugh Atkin created the video, combining the Republican candidate’s soundbites and the hit song from the rapper’s 2001 Marshall Mathers LP . Obama begins the video in much the same way as Em begins his track: “May I have your attention please. Will the real Mitt Romney please stand up?” “Y’all act like you haven’t seen a Mormon before… I’m not concerned with the poor,” Mitt says in spliced-together clips from various campaign speeches. As for that catchy chorus, Romney raps, “I’m Mitt Romney and I’m the real Romney … All the other Mitt Romneys are just masturbating.” Obviously. In other mashup news, check out Obama singing “Sexy and I Know It” !
