Last week, Life & Style published a detailed report of a fight between Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting at HBO’s post-Emmy Awards party. It was far from the first report of a trouble between Cuoco and Sweeting , and as usual, it’s resulted in rumors that the newlyweds are headed for a divorce. The level of detail in the Life & Style report may be part of the cause for the widespread Internet speculation that Kaley and Ryan are soon to be dunzo. The anonymous sources on hand (or an enterprising tabloid BS artist) told a tale that had Kaley and Ryan behaving like caricatures of the way they’ve always been portrayed in the press: Cuoco is the clingy romantic (“She was whispering in his ear, begging him not to leave her.”), Sweeting is the aloof bro-douche. (“After Kaley walked away, Ryan put his finger to his head and pretended to shoot himself.”) It’s always satisfying when things play out exactly as you’d predicted, so it’s not hard to see why the Web has latched onto the “Kaley and Ryan Emmys blowout” story as a sure sign that things are soon to be over for Instagram’s happiest couple. Of course, Cuoco and Sweeting declined to draft a prenup, so the fact that Kaley just signed a $90 million contract for three more seasons of The Big Bang Theory only adds to the sour grapes appeal of the divorce rumors.
