Aasif Mandvi’s “Flight Safety Rules For Brown People” In the era of a Donald presidency , minorities will need courage, prayer and lots of jokes in order to combat the injustices that we may face and to keep our f**king sanity. Comedian Aasif Mandvi is here to provide us with all of those things in his “Flight Safety Rules For Brown People” None of this would be even remotely funny, if it wasn’t sorta-kinda true. Nature Calls: Buffalo Herd Appear At Pipeline Protest This is — for lack of a better word — wild . We’ve been reporting on the protests going on at Standing Rock , which have largely been ignored by mainstream media — however it’s clear that Mother Nature is well aware of what’s happening. This video footage comes courtesy of the U.S. Uncut website : Indigenous culture honors American bison (known as Tatanka Oyate, or Buffalo Nation) as a symbol of sacrifice, as the bison give their lives to provide food, shelter, and clothing through the use of their meat and their hides. Native Americans maintain a spiritual tradition with bison, believing that as long as buffalo — a gift from the Great Spirit — roam free and as long as the herds are bountiful, the sovereignty of indigenous people would remain strong. And in the midst of mass arrests, mace attacks, and beatings from batons, a stampede of bison suddenly appeared near the Standing Rock protest camp. A cry of joy reportedly erupted from the Standing Rock Sioux, as they had been praying for assistance from the Tatanka Oyate during their standoff with riot police and national guardsmen. As the police response to the Sioux’s ongoing nonviolent civil disobedience escalates, tribal leaders are calling on state and federal governments to respect the constitutional rights of water protectors and stop the mistreatment of the indigenous community. “We call on the state of North Dakota to oversee the actions of local law enforcement to, first and foremost, ensure everyone’s safety. The Department of Justice must send overseers immediately to ensure the protection of First Amendment rights and the safety of thousands here at Standing Rock,” wrote David Archambault II, chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. “DOJ can no longer ignore our requests.” Historically our government hasn’t been particularly considerate to the rights and well being of the indigenous people of this country. This ought to be a time for that to change. Hit the flip for the original video
Kid Cudi Is Taking Aim At Everyone In His Life Kid Cudi seems to be going through some turmoil in his life. After ranting publicly about Kanye and Drake not too long ago, it appears the mother of his child has also been a target. Jasmine Brand broke the news a few days ago that Cudi’s baby mother, Jacqueline Munyasya, filed an order of protection against him. This wasn’t the first time she’s had to use the legal system to her advantage as she sued the rapper in 2010 for child support. The order of protection was filed after Cudi “allegedly texted her in excess of 168 messages – between August 11th and 14th – in which he threatened to call child services on her and that he was going to “send the guy to stand by my house” and that she was “so gross and sick n the head” and “ain’t sh*t” and he was going to serve her with legal papers because he was seeking sole custody of their daughter.” Apparently, he was bothering her so much that she had to reschedule some exams because of the emotional turmoil he was causing her. Munyasya claims she wasn’t aware of any show or event that Cudi has in Chicago so she “feared for her safety.” Supposedly, Cudi demanded time with their daughter and threatened to start a prolonged social media campaign against Munyasya. via Jasmine Brand She says not knowing whether he was in Chicago for work, she feared for her safety. She alleges that he continued to sent text messages, which caused her to reschedule her final exams for school due to the stress and distraction caused by his threats. Jacqueline says the rapper demanded parenting time with their daughter during time that she already informed him she would be spending with their child. She claims despite him being in Chicago for Lollapalooza, he never contacted her to see their child. She says that he also threatened to go to the news and contact outlets and even threatened that he would create a Twitter hashtag “Justice for Vada” (his daughter’s name) and would blast it on social media for months and even make t-shirts. She explains his previous negative tweets about her have caused his millions of fans to suggest violence against her. As a result of all this, the judge granted her an order of protection against the Ohio artist which doesn’t end until August 18th, 2017. What do you think about Cudi’s ongoing struggles? Do you think his baby mother was right for her actions?
Nicki Minaj might actually be able to fire her bodyguards. All celebrities these days look to other means to ensure their safety. One of the huge pitfalls of being a celebrity is that the public seem to think it’s okay to approach them in the street or in a public place. That’s totally not okay and it’s actually a complete lack of respect. They should be allowed to walk around like the rest of us and not have to worry about a getting too much attention. It’s no wonder that some stars opt to steer clear of the public. The public can be very unpredictable and allowing the wrong person to approach you could lead to an unthinkable chain of events. Minaj found herself in quite the pickle over the labor day weekend while on a flight in New Jersey. One fan thought it would be a good idea to take pictures of the rapper, but Minaj’s hairdresser was completely disgusted at the lack of respect from the fan. This led to the hairdresser snatching the cell phone and attempting to delete the picture of her friend. The fan then wanted to get the cops involved, so everyone involved was questioned when the plane touched down. It was a bit much to get the cops involved when the person who took the picture was clearly in the wrong. Nicki should have filed a report on the girl. That would have been the ultimate karma. Nicki has kept quiet about the whole incident on social media. View Slideshow: 15 Celebrities Who Bravely Admitted To Having Abortions No one was arrested, so it was a big waste of time for all the parties involved. The act from the hairdresser was great. Stars are entitled to some privacy and it’s not like Nicki is able to jet set around on private jets. Might Nicki get rid of her bodyguards in favor of her hairdresser? Probably not, but it would make for a great job title! Nicki is not the first celebrity to have beef with a fan over taking pictures. Recently, Niall Horan was feeling a little under the weather and one fan got a little too close for comfort to take sneaky pictures of him. This did not go down well, with Horan slamming the fan on Twitter . He had every right to do so. Nicki Minaj took to the MTV VMA stage on August 28. She and Ariana Grande performed “Side By Side.” It was a raunchy performance. Basically, it’s what you would expect from the two. It got fans talking and reception to the performance has been mostly positive. It may have been a little too much even for the VMAs, but it made up for a terrible awards show. It’s time for the show to get a major revamp. Going back to having a presenter would be a great start. Key & Peele may just have ruined their reputation with their performance. It was tedious and unfunny. What do you think about Minaj’s hairdresser leaping to her defense? Should Minaj get rid of her bodyguard? Hit the comments. The Opening Ceremony for the 2016 Summer Olympics will air live from Brazil on Friday night. But we don't need to see thousands of world class athletes parading around with their flags to get us in the mood for these epic Games. A handful of U.S swimmers have gone ahead and done the inspiring deed for us already… carpool karaoke style! In the following piece of amazing footage, Olympians Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Nathan Adrian, Elizabeth Beisel, Caeleb Dressel and others have teamed up for the ultimate take on James Corden's classic segment. The begins with Dressel and Beisel asking everyone to buckle up. Safety first, people. Safety, always. From there, the group breaks into some Taylor Swift , briefly Shaking It Off, before Phelps, in another vehicle, asks if anyone is going to play some music during their drive. Next up, we have a a car packed full of female Olympians… who plead NOT to select “Call Me Maybe” as their karaoke song. It's been done before , that's all. Many times. No offense to Carly Rae Jepsen. The talented women therefore opt for Fifth Harmony’s “BO$$.” Solid selection. Around the five-minute mark, Nathan Adrian bursts out in song-and-dance while performing the Pokémon theme song in a way we never thought was possible. It almost makes the whole Pokemon GO craze worthwhile. There are plenty of Lochte dance moves to enjoy, a few more Pokemon references and just an epic video to enjoy overall. Sit back and take it all in now:
The women of the Duggar family are expected to start helping with household chores – including caring for their younger siblings – at a very young age. In keeping with that tradition, 22-year-old Jinger Duggar has been helping with the young ones since she was little girl herself. Perhaps that’s why this photo caught so many fans by surprise: That’s a shot of Michael Duggar, the 4-year-old son of Josh and Anna Duggar, asleep in the backseat of Jinger’s car during a shopping excursion. The image was posted to the Duggar’s official Facebook page this afternoon along with a caption reading, “Look at this photo Jinger sent us! Seems like her little shopping buddy needed some rest!” Seems harmless enough, but because everything the Duggars do stirs up controversy these days, several fans immediately went on the offensive. The problem, it seems, is that Michael is not properly restrained according to Arkansas state law, which dictates that children under the age of 5 or weighing less than 60 pounds must ride in a car seat. Naturally, the comments section on the photo has now devolved into a battleground with child safety advocates duking it out with the Duggar faithful: “He should be in a high back booster or a harness,” wrote one commenter. “She probably wasn’t driving when the photo was taken but had to have been driving with him in that position. He wasn’t properly restrained. Period.” “Even if he were in a backless booster and that booster is being hidden by the blanket in the photo, a backless/no back booster isn’t even an appropriate seat for a 5yo anyway,” another chimed in. Naturally, these comments sparked the usual “know-it-all moms” blowback: “1) she PROOOOBABLY wasn’t able to take such a perfect picture, from the driver’s seat, while driving. 2) if you say your child has.never done this, you’re lying. 3) they don’t need your safety advice,” one commenter wrote in Jinger’s defense. The Duggars have been criticized for photos of their kids on numerous occasions in the past year. In fact, this isn’t even the first controversy related to a car seat . Some of it seems to come from a place of genuine concern; most of it is just the usual Internet outrage directed at some very low-hanging fruit, but as several commenters pointed out today, when it pertains to their kids’ safety, the Duggars should probably just take the advice.
