Lindsay Lohan on Saturday Night Live: Hit or Miss?

Lindsay Lohan hosted Saturday Night Live last night, and … meh. We wouldn’t say she bombed last by any means, but we expected better. Maybe all the hype and expectations were just too much, or the show itself just isn’t that good. In any case, it left something to be desired from start to finish. Lindsay Lohan Saturday Night Live Opening Monologue Several late changes – such as ditching a singing monologue in favor of one with cameos from Jimmy Fallon and Jon Hamm (above) – may not have helped matters. Some critics and fans are calling it an epic fail ( EW asks in its headline if she was the worst host all season), but people are also predisposed to hate on Lohan. Linds did look a bit tired, worn out and nervous, but that’s to be expected, and she can’t take all the blame for mediocre skits. Do you agree? What Did Reese Witherspoon Say About Chris Brown’s Assault on Rihanna?

Rihanna’s recent musical collaboration with Chris Brown has spurred criticism across the media and celebrity spectrum. Reese Witherspoon has even weighed in. The This Means War actress star appeared at the World Conference of Women’s Shelters in Washington, D.C., as part of a partnership with the Avon Foundation. There to raise awareness about domestic violence, the mother of two say she is making sure her kids – Ava, 12, and Deacon, 8 – learn an important lesson. She openly discussed how she actively talks to her two children about domestic violence, and that Chris Brown and Rihanna are part of that conversation. “We talk about domestic violence and what that means,” Witherspoon, 35, said. “Although the concept is somewhat foreign to them, they’re starting to understand that this happens to families in our country and all throughout the world.” She also doesn’t shelter them from the realities of Brown’s assault on Rihanna: “My daughter knows what happened to her. My son knows as well.” “We talk about what is abuse. It’s important to talk to our daughters and our sons at an early age about what’s appropriate and what is absolutely not acceptable.” Judging from mom’s open and mature communication style – not calling anyone out while still not mincing words on a difficult topic – Ava and Deacon are lucky. Lindsay Lohan SNL Promos: Self-Deprecating, Hilarious

Lindsay Lohan’s upcoming appearance on SNL this weekend has already been worth it for these promos, with the actress standing beside Kenan Thompson. In one promo after another, Lohan pokes fun at herself – with actual comedic timing and delivery, and with cast member Thompson is a witting sidekick. Among other things, Lohan claims to be homeless, and says she just wishes people knew more about her personal life. There’s even a Lindsanity reference. Lindsay Lohan to SNL: Anything Goes!

Lindsay Lohan has been on the receiving end of jokes from Saturday Night Live for years, and she’s ready to embrace that fact when she hosts the show this weekend. Rather than trying to keep her career downward spiral and brushes with the law off limits, Lohan has reportedly made it clear that nothing is out of bounds on SNL . Lindsay has been dying to do the show as a way to re-establish her career and reached out to creator / executive producer Lorne Michaels personally to make it happen. According to our sources, Lindsay is aware of her own absurdity and plans on using all the unpleasantness from the last couple of years as fodder for the show . Lohan wants to show she’s a good sport who’s “in on the joke.” It’s unclear what they have planned, but there could be any number of skits involving DUIs, alleged necklace heists, jail stints, mug shots … and on and on. Give a girl credit for being able to poke fun at herself at least. [Photo: WENN.com]

Chill, Broseph: Watch Daniel Radcliffe Speak American in SNL Promos

Harry Potter star (or, as Saturday Night Live ‘s Jason Sudeikis dubs him below, “Sex Wizard”) Daniel Radcliffe will step up to host SNL this Saturday, so to prepare for the big night he and Sudeikis shot a promo video teasing the hilarity to come. “Are you doing a character? Like a chimney sweep?” Sudeikis asks upon hearing Radcliffe speak. “Can you do an American accent?” With a resounding “Chill, broseph,” Radcliffe shows that yes, he totes can. Watch the erstwhile Harry Potter speak bro and wax poetic about Mountain Dew after the jump. I’m inclined to be optimistic that SNL first-timer Radcliffe can pull off the gig, probably playing straight man to Sudeikis and Co. like many a guest host from the world of dramatic acting. Will it top Charles Barkley’s ratings grabber from last weekend? Probably not — that is, unless Radcliffe heeds Sudeikis’s words of wisdom and dances like nobody’s watching. Which raises the question: Is there room for yet another track-suited white boy back-up dancer on What Up With That? [ THR ]

Daniel Radcliffe to Host Saturday Night Live

Daniel Radcliffe is set to make his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live January 14, NBC has announced. Lana Del Rey will serve as musical guest that week. With the conclusion of the epic Harry Potter franchise, Radcliffe cemented his status as one of the most talented and original performers of his generation. He’s looking forward to more weighty projects in the future, however (see The Woman in Black trailer ) and we have no doubt he’ll continue to thrive. Charles Barkley will host SNL January 7. SNL Spoofs Herman Cain’s Exit From Presidential Race [VIDEO]

The rest is here:

Saturday Night Live didn’t waste any time poking fun at one-time Presidential candidate Herman Cain’s decision to end his bid for the GOP’s nomination. Cain announced that he was dropping out of the race after a woman named Ginger White alleged that she had a 13-year-long affair with Cain and several other women claimed that they were sexually harassed by the Georgia businessman. Cast member Kenan Thompson revisited his spot-on impersonation of Cain, joking that “I scheduled an appointment with my wife. We had a productive discussion while she glared at me listening to Mary J. Blige .” RELATED POSTS: SPOOF: Mike Tyson Finds His Inner Herman Cain [VIDEO]

Talkback: Should Studio Heads Be as Candid as Universal’s Ron Meyer?

I was traveling all day as Movieline’s report from the Savannah Film Festival picked up steam around the blogosphere, but early on it was clear that two polar-opposite reactions were building in response to Universal Studios chief Ron Meyer’s comments about his studio’s well-publicized (at least, outside of the studio) recent flops. Either you love his blazing moment of candor — because we’ve all thought the same about most, if not all, of the woeful Universal films mentioned — or you despise what he stands for. But Meyer is a businessman, the President and COO of one of the largest movie studios and theme park conglomerates in the business. Should more filmmakers and studio heads follow suit?
