Negro, Please: Walmart Truck Driver Who Crashed Into Tracy Morgan Wants Criminal Charges Dropped

Walmart Truck Driver Who Injured Tracy Morgan Wants Criminal Charges Dropped This guy almost killed 2 men and has the nerve to think he shouldn’t face criminal charges? Via PageSix The truck driver who slammed into a limo carrying Tracy Morgan, killing one man and severely injuring the comedian, will ask a judge next week to throw out criminal charges against him. Kevin Roper was driving a Wal-Mart truck in June 2014 when he crashed into Morgan’s limo van. The former “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live” star suffered brain trauma, broken ribs and a broken leg, and his friend James McNair was killed. Two other passengers also suffered serious injuries. Within days, Roper was charged in state court with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto, though as of Friday he hadn’t been indicted, said his attorney, David Glassman. Glassman told The Associated Press he will ask a judge in Middlesex County on Tuesday to dismiss the case because Roper is unable to get a fair trial because of negative publicity surrounding Morgan’s federal lawsuit against Wal-Mart. Awwww, poor thang… According to the Roper’s lawyer, the negative publicity surrounding his client after the civil lawsuit was settled has made it nearly impossible for him to get a fair trial. “Civil cases are routinely stayed for criminal cases to proceed,” Glassman said in an email. “Had that occurred and a stay issued in the civil case, a tsunami of negative pretrial publicity would have been avoided and Roper’s right to a fair trial would have been preserved.” We hope not only do the keep the charges, but that they sentence him for as long as they legally can. This is How Saturday Night Live Paid Tribute to Paris

Saturday Night Live was placed in the challenging position this week of having to put on a comedy show in the face of tragedy. Just 24 hours before the Elizabeth Banks-hosted episode of this sketch show aired, terrorist created mass chaos in Paris, gunning down well over 100 people in multiple venues in a series of heinous attacks. With celebrities reacting to the violence on social media, Saturday Night Live ditched its typical cold open for a few moving words from Cecily Strong. “Paris is the city of lights. And here in New York City, we know that light will never go out,” Strong said while standing on stage, adding: “Our love and support is with everyone there tonight. We stand with you.” The cast member then went ahead and repeated this statement in French before introducing the show. On Friday evening, those attending an Eagles of Death Metal concert at Bataclan theater were taken hostage and killed by terrorists before authorities broke in and the terrorists  and broke up the madness. Other locations where ISIS terrorists attacked included restaurants and the Stade de France, where the French and German soccer teams were competing when explosions went off outside the stadium. The President of France was in attendance at this match and had to be evacuated at halftime. Similar to how it handled its first show following the terrorist attacks on U.S. soil in September of 2011, Saturday Night Live is receiving praise for this opening. Watch it now and join us in sending prayers to everyone affected by this tragedy in Paris and abroad.

Donald Trump Hosts SNL: Watch His Monologue!

A horde of people protested NBC for its decision to have Donald Trump host Saturday Night Live. This is the same network, after all, who essentially fired the Presidential hopeful from The Apprentice after inflammatory comments he made about Mexicans. (Which preceded inflammatory comments he made about women…. and then Muslims …) Politics, sexism and racism aside, however, one crucial question remained heading into this weekend: Could Donald Trump actually be funny? He began his attempt via a monologue, one in which he continually mixed up Aidy Bryant for long-time nemesis Rosie O'Donnell. He was also flanked at one point by Taran Killam, who parodies him now on the sketch comedy series; and by Darrell Hammond, who portrayed him in the past on SNL. At one point, a heckler screamed “You’re a racist!” at Trump, only for the cameras to cut away backstage, where Larry Davis (who resurrected his amazing impression of Bernie Sanders on the episode) admitted he just made $5,000 for that accusation. So, how did Trump do overall? He didn't strike out during the monologue, but he didn't really try to hit a home run, either, which is a it surprising knowing the (awful) man. Check out the video below and sound off on Trump as Saturday Night Live host yourself. Did NBC make a mistake in bringing him on board? Is all controversy good controversy? Is it SNL's job to serve as Ethics Police? Or merely to aim for the highest-rated episodes it can? A debate over such issues would likely be more entertaining than this Donald Trump monlogue. Watch it and grade it now:
