Poster Debut: Kaya Scodelario in ‘Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes’

Rising U.K. actress Kaya Scodelario ( Skins , Moon , Wuthering Heights ) stars as a teenager who strikes up a friendship with her mysterious neighbor ( Jessica Biel ) in the drama Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes , which premieres in competition at the Sundance Film Festival . Movieline ‘s got your first look at the poster for the surrealism-tinged thriller featuring Scodelario, who will be one to watch this month in Park City. Scodelario’s been an intriguing new talent since breaking out on the original Skins , the kids-behaving-badly hit U.K. series that inspired Project X -esque mayhem in suburban England and inspired a terrible American knockoff series on MTV. She appeared in Duncan Jones’ Moon and briefly in Clash of the Titans , but earned critical acclaim last year as Catherine in Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights , and for a good while had considerable fan support vying to play the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games which eventually went to Jen Lawrence. Emanuel should help Scodelario bolster her presence stateside (she also appears in the as-yet unreleased in the U.S. drama Now Is Good , AKA The One Where Dakota Fanning Has Cancer And A British Accent ), and it also adds some zest and indie cred to co-star Biel’s filmography following a varied year marked by the indie horror The Tall Man , the sci-fi remake Total Recall , awards hopeful Hitchcock , and the Gerard Butler vehicle Playing For Keeps . Alfred Molina, Frances O’Connor, Jimmi Simpson, and Aneurin Barnard also star in the pic from director Francesca Gregorini, who previously co-wrote and co-directed the girls school drama Tanner Hall . Check out the full hi-res poster debut below and stay tuned for Movieline ‘s coverage of the Sundance Film Festival, held January 17-27. Synopsis: A troubled girl Emanuel (Kaya Scodelario) becomes preoccupied with her mysterious new neighbor (Jessica Biel), who bears a striking resemblance to her dead mother. In offering to baby-sit Linda’s newborn, Emanuel unwittingly enters a fragile, fictional world, of which she becomes the gatekeeper. More info at the Sundance Film Festival website. Kristen Stewart Says Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams & Dakota Fanning Are ‘Cool’ (While Looking Hot)

I never tire of looking at Kristen Stewart.  In the new issue of V Magazine , which features the On The Road actress in a 10-page photo spread,by Inez & Vinoodh and on its cover, writer Sarah Cristobal writes that there is “a slightly feral air”  to Stewart’s presence, and that’s exactly what makes her so fascinating to watch on and off screen.   I wish On The Road   had been a more cohesive movie, and a better showcase for Stewart’s talents post- Twilight Saga ,  but she clearly has no regrets.  The actress tells V that the Walter Salles picture has been “a fucking amazing experience. I would have done anything, I would have played any part.”  She adds that the character she did play, Marylou, who was based on Beat icon Neal Cassady’s onetime wife LuAnne Henderson, was “remarkable because she has a tough core. When you are a teenager a year can be crippling to maneuver through, you’re just out there questioning things and so to be completely ok with that and not think that there is anything wrong with you, that’s something I’ve recently understood,” says Stewart, who points out that she’s 22 where “Marylou started this whole thing when she was 15.” As Stewart told Movieline , playing Marylou helped her to be “unabashedly” herself , and she elaborates on that theme a bit with V . After a year in which she weathered a storm of overheated   Scarlet Letter -style publicity and issued a public apology for cheating on reported boyfriend and Twilight co-star  Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders , Stewart tells the publication:  “I have realized that you can close yourself off to life if you put walls up, but it’s a difficult thing…people can’t see in and you also can’t see out. So I have gotten quire comfortable with just being unafraid. I keep saying the same thing, its not about being fearless but really just embracing the fears and using them. (..) I don’t want to deprive myself of any bit of life. Oh yes, and if you’re wondering which actresses are on Stewart’s radar, she says there “are many cool girls out there” and name-checks Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and her Twilight Saga and  The Runaways co-star Dakota Fanning. Nick Jonas Pleases JoBro, Theater Fans In ‘How To Succeed’

‘It’s a different show every night, a different audience every night,’ he tells MTV News of his eight-shows-a-week schedule. By Jocelyn Vena Nick Jonas Photo: MTV News In January, Nick Jonas kicked off his run as Finch, the lead role in Broadway’s hit revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” With six weeks under his belt (and another few to go before he wraps it up in June), he says that he’s still getting to know the ins and outs of the show, but he’s enjoying every minute of the part, even its eight-shows-a-week schedule. “It’s interesting. The thing that I think I’ve realized, having played Finch every night, eight shows a week, is that the title of the show is ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,’ however the thing about Finch that’s really exciting and appealing to the audience, and me as actor, is that he does try really hard,” he explained to MTV News. “Although he does rise to the top really quickly, he never lies, he never cuts anyone down, he never does anything that makes him a bad person,” he continues. “However, he’s just really driven. I think when it says ‘Without Really Trying,’ it’s more just saying how easy it really is when you get into the setup he falls into. It’s fun to dig in and see how quickly and easily you can rise to the top.” And, the experience of the show has been enriched even more by the folks watching. “It’s a different show every night, a different audience every night and although we’re saying the same thing, it’s so different with each show and the audience plays just a much a part into the way the show runs as with the actors do. We have to pay attention and keep the pace of the show up,” he said. “It’s been fun to have a different show every night and to see the fans, not only Jonas fans, but also fans of ‘How to Succeed’ and theater fans in general.” Have you seen “How to Succeed”?
