Student Dies After High School Fight Over A Boy A teenage girl has died after getting jumped by several girls in her class over a juvenile argument. A fight broke out between the girl and another student in their high school bathroom before classes commenced for the day…eventually resulting in the girl’s passing after other girls jumped in and banged her head on the hard sink. Via MailOnline : A 16-year-old girl died after getting into a fight with another girl over a boy at a school in Delaware. Officials have not named the girl, but friends and sources close to the investigation identified her as Amy Inita Joyner-Francis, according to The News-Journal. Joyner-Francis was jumped by a gang of bullies in her school’s bathroom Thursday morning. Officials said the fight broke out around 8.15am before classes at Howard High School of Technology, a vocational school in Wilmington, Delaware. Students who witnessed the deadly scuffle said that the 16-year-old and another girl started fighting in one of the women’s bathrooms over a boy, when a gang of other girls jumped the victim. At one point, someone banged her head on a sink, according to witnesses who spoke with 6ABC. Kaya Wilson was in a stall when the fight broke out and spoke with the local news station after leaving school. ‘She was fighting a girl, and then that’s when all these other girls started banking her -like jumping her – and she hit her head on the sink,’ Wilson said. The victim was flown to A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead.The cause of death has not been confirmed News media outlets quoted Police Chief Bobby Cummings as saying that two female students were taken to police headquarters for questioning. Absolutely ridiculous! We know kids fight…this is something they have done since school was invented. But it’s nothing short of a tragedy and a shame that this young girl had to lose her life over something they all probably would have forgotten about in a month if things hadn’t gone so far… Truly sad. Adopted Boys From Mozambique To Attend College Together Two boys, each losing their families to AIDS at a young age, befriended each other while living in an orphanage in Mozambique. Surprisingly, they were each adopted by American families …who happened to live only two miles from one another. Now, having had the opportunity to grow up together across two continents, the young men are set to be college roommates in the fall. Kelvin Lewis and Afonso Slater, both 18, grew up in Mozambique after losing their parents to AIDS. Two families from Gilbert, Arizona, adopted them eight years ago. The two households didn’t know each other well at the beginning of the adoption process but their houses were less than two miles apart. Kelvin and Afonso have remained friends throughout the years and are now headed to the same college, where they will be roommates in the fall, AZ Central reported. The two families didn’t know each other well at first and became friends during the adoption process. They organized a surprise reunion when they found out Kelvin and Afonso had been best friends in Mozambique. The two boys happily reunited. They both went to Gilbert High School together and joined the soccer team. Now, Kelvin and Afonso have both been accepted to Brigham Young University and will be roommates when they head there in the fall. Kelvin told People he wants to become a doctor in Mozambique and Afonso wants to get a degree in international studies to improve adoption between different countries. ‘We talk about growing old, like sitting on our porches in a rocking chair, and living next door to each other, having our kids be best friends,’ Kelvin told People. ‘We’re definitely more than friends, we’re brothers.’ Awww! Rod Durham, a high school teacher who appeared on Season 4 of ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss, was found dead over the weekend in a Fort Lauderdale motel. He was 52 years old. According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Durham was visiting the area during his school’s spring break. While those close to him have speculated that Durham passed away from diabetic shock, his cause of death remains undetermined at this time. “He always made everyone smile — even if you were having the worst day,” Rocky Hana, Leon County Schools administrator, told the newspaper after learning of Rod’s death. “If you saw Rod, your day got better. “His laugh was simply infectious. … Everyone loved Rod Durham. There are tens of thousands of kids today who are broken-hearted.” Durham rose to reality TV fame in 2014 as a contestant on Extreme Weight Loss. He shed over 180 pounds on the program, standing out for his positive attitude and kindness. Extreme Weight Loss trainer Heidi Powell shared a photo of herself and Durham on Instagram in light of Rod’s death and wrote the following as a caption to it: Heaven just got a lot brighter today when Rod entered the pearly gates. While I am selfishly so sad and completely devastated that I won’t get to see him on earth anymore, I am rejoicing for the spirit he is carrying with him and spreading to everyone up there.
