Louisiana School Principal And Coach Don Racist Costumes Louisiana locals are angry after a racist photo featuring two educators at a costume party earlier this month. Via WTNH reports: Iota Middle School Principal Lee Ann Wall and her husband Jeptha Wall, who is a coach at Crowley High School, appear in the image. Their costumes are described as “People of Walmart.” Jeptha can be seen wearing a red bandana around his waist with a gun tucked into his belt and money coming out of his pocket. In front of Lee Ann is a basket full of black and white baby dolls and sign that read, “You wait on pay day, I be waiting for da first of da month!” The photo was sent to KLFY by a viewer who called it a “display of classism and racism.” But not everyone thinks it should be taken so seriously. Penny Fontenot lives in Iota and says sometimes a costume is just that: a costume. “If they’re teaching your children right from wrong in the schools, what does a costume have to do with it?” The news teams showed the pic to several other folks in Acadia Parish. They believe the costume choice crossed the line. “Wow, okay. So what is she trying to depict? Somebody who’s on welfare? If that is what she was trying to depict that’s even worse.” Alan Honersucker told KLFY’s Dalfred Jones. Nathan Kresge, who also live in Iota said, “To make fun of people that just can’t afford a better way of life, to make fun of them? That’s just ridiculous!” Ellan Baggett, the Executive Director of Operations with the Acadia Parish School Board, says it was a private party, not school related. Texas Teen Arrested Over Homemade Clock To Study In Qatar Turns out being arrested had a silver lining for Ahmed Mohamed , the gifted Texas teen who was jailed earlier this year over a homemade clock administrators at his school found suspicious. Ahmed hung out with President Obama and other talented students for Astronomy Night at the White House Monday and Tuesday announced he’ll be studying abroad on scholarship! Via US Weekly reports: Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old who made headlines in September after being arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school, is moving out of the country, his family announced on Tuesday, Oct. 20. “After careful consideration of all the generous offers received, we would like to announce that we have accepted a kind offer from Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development for Ahmed to join the prestigious QF Young Innovators Program, which reflects the organization’s on-going dedication to empowering young people and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity,” the family said in a statement. Mohamed’s story was picked up by numerous news outlets after the Muslim teen was handcuffed and accused of bringing a bomb — his homemade clock — to his Irving, Texas, school. Many high-profile names came forward to defend and encourage the creative young man, including Mark Zuckerberg, President Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. Obama had personally invited Ahmed to the White House after the teen was arrested. Irving police later said they would not be charging the young man with any crime. We are so happy for him!!! The school’s iconic head coach, Rick Pitino, maintains that he was completely ignorant to any of this, but he’s under heavy fire from those who are lookin’ at him like “MmmmmmOhMyGod…”. “I can say 100 percent sure, with zero doubt, that (Rick Pitino) knew nothing about any of these alleged incidents,” Richard Pitino told ESPN. Pitino told ESPN earlier this month he has denied having any knowledge of the parties: “Not myself, not one player, not one trainer, not one assistant, not one person knew anything about any of this,” the Hall of Fame coach said. “If anyone did, it would have been stopped on a dime. Really??? Our Presidential Candidates Beef Over Twitter Apparently Republican Presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Donald Trump think Twitter is the place to handle conflict. In a recent interview with Daily Mail , Donald made some side-eye worthy comments about 9/11 and pretty much blamed George Bush for letting the tragedy happen at all. Here’s a snippet of his statement: “When you talk about George Bush – I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time.” He added, “He was president, okay?” “Blame him or don’t blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign.” Jeb didn’t take too kindly to the comments made about his big brother. Twitter Parents And Students Gather After Viral Clip Shows Teen Being Slammed By The Neck By School Resource Officer These are the cops that are supposed to be protecting our high school children. Parents and students gathered this week outside of Tolman High School in Rhode Island, where earlier, a teenager was recorded being violently slammed by the neck by a school resource cop. According to T he Root , the officers says the teen’s brother was being disruptive at dismissal and was escorted to the school’s office. There, the brother was cuffed on the ground after he wouldn’t settle down. Then the teen entered the office, where officers say he threw a punch and was slammed to the ground. Wow, the way he was slammed looks like it hurt his little body. It’s a short clip, but the teen appears to have his back to the officer before he slams him. Jamie Zimmerman – the medical doctor and journalist best known for her work with ABC News – has passed away at the age of 31. Sources say Zimmerman drowned while vacationing in Hawaii. “Jamie touched so many of us across ABC News,” wrote network president Goldston in a message to employees. “We will miss her. Jamie had a passion to make the world a better place and help all of us lead better lives.” In addition to her on-air work at ABC, Zimmerman was a regular contributor to Huffington Post, Yahoo News and PBS. Though tremendously knowledgeable on the topic of medicine, Zimmerman was also remarkably well-rounded. She studied anthropology and film at UCLA and got her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine last year. As a teen, she acted on such popular series as 7th Heaven and Boston Public. But for all of her accomplishments, family and friends say she was most proud of her work on global health initiatives that recently brought her to the most troubled areas of Haiti and the Congo. “My little girl was always trying to do too much,” Jamie’s mother wrote on Facebook. “She wanted to write books and already had a literary agent. She just couldn’t stop taking on more. It’s as if she knew her time was limited and she was trying to fit it all in!” She added that she hopes her daughter’s life will inspire others to make the world a better place.
