Teacher Causes Outrage After Allowing Students To Reenact Mike Brown Shooting At School Parents in Alabama are outraged after one mother took to her Faceook page to alert other parents that her child and theirs had been involved a reenactment of the senseless, fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Mike Brown while at school. via WFSA Selma The internal investigation is complete of a sixth grade Dallas County teacher who was placed on paid administrative leave after students in her 6th grade class were instructed to re-enact the August 9th shooting death of Michael Brown in class. Brown, 18, was fatally shot by a Ferguson, Missouri police officer. The unarmed black man’s death by a white police officer has sparked protests and riots in the St. Louis suburb and around the country. Dallas County School System Superintendent Don Willingham says he’s wrapped up his investigation of the unnamed Brantley Elementary School teacher and says he’s discussed his decision with the principal. School officials planned a meeting with the teacher for Thursday afternoon. Results of that meeting are not yet known. The re-enactment sparked outrage after a parent of one of the students complained about the class assignment on social media. The assignment started out as an innocent current events lesson, discussing the recent incident in Missouri that has garnered heavy media attention. But, Jessica Baughn, the student’s mother, says the assignment just went too far. “This is not nowhere near right,” Baughn explained. “It was uncalled for.” Baughn explained the assignment in which her son took part. “She [the teacher] had them get on the internet and look up everything about [the Ferguson shooting],” Baughn says. “They proceeded to re-enact the shooting in class.” Baughn says the students used paper guns and paper bullets. “They actually shot them out of this made gun,” she says. “The child falls on the ground like he’s dead.” Baughn claims a white child played the role of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson and a black student pretended to be Michael Brown. “I understand talking about current history,” the mom explained, “but not re-enacting it I don’t… What are we teaching our children?” We’ll definitely be paying attention to see how this story plays out. Seventeen-year-old Lourdes Leon will attend the University of Michigan in the fall, but before setting off on her own, Lourdes had to had one last high school rite of passage to endure, and she did it with the help of some good friends and a few glasses of bubbly. In a blog post titled “Lola Leaves High School,” Lourdes shared a humorous account of her senior prom with the online world. Unfortunately, the aspiring fashion designer may have been a bit too candid in discussing her pre-party shenanigans. “A week before graduation, I attended the classic party every American teenager goes to despite the really bad music,” wrote Lourdes on her website. “This is known as prom. Of course I had a beautiful time, but I’ll attribute that to the fact that I partied with my awesome friends all night.” Despite that “beautiful time,” Lourdes’ post mainly on the lamer parts of the prom, which included, “Awkwardly avoiding teachers because you may or may not have had some champagne and it would be weird to talk to them.” So, Lourdes had some champagne at prom. Big deal, right? Well, it wouldn’t be, were it not for the fact that this is far from the first time that Madonna has been busted letting her kids booze underage. Parents Sue After Bullied Teen Commits Suicide via Jezebel The parents of a teenage boy who committed suicide after being targeted by bullies filed a lawsuit against district where he attended school, alleging officials knew their son was being targeted but did nothing to protect him. Matthew Burdette’s parents are suing the San Diego Unified School District after a video of the teen masturbating went viral, leading to severe bullying that caused their son to take his life. The Burdettes allege school officials at University City High School where Matthew,14, attended knew about the video and the bullying yet did nothing to intervene. Matthew killed himself during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2013. He left behind a suicide note for his family that shed light on the harassment he was enduring from classmates. “He said, I can’t do school anymore,” Matthew’s aunt Laura Burdette Mechak said to ABC 10. “I have no friends. I don’t want to kill myself but I have no friends.” After his death, family members turned to University City High School looking for answers. What could have happened at school to drive their son, a Boy Scout and member of the wrestling team, to kill himself? Mechak said school officials refused to give them any insight into what was going on with Matthew. “Kids came forward to help them figure out what was going on,” she told ABC 10. It was then that the family first became aware of the video. After months of investigating, this is what the family knows so far. On Nov. 15, Matthew was kicked out of a classroom for eating sunflower seeds. His teacher gave him no direction on where to go or what to do (she didn’t send him to the principal’s office; she just told him to leave the class). That’s when he went to the bathroom and reportedly began to masturbate in one of stalls. At that point, another student entered the bathroom and peered over the door. He used his phone to record Matthew masturbating. Video taping someone engaging in a sexual act without their consent is disturbing and completely horrifying on its own, but don’t forget this is the age where everything gets shared on the Internet. Sure enough, the student immediately shared the footage via Snapchat and other social media sites. That’s where Matthew’s nightmare began. I don’t think we have to explain that high school students and sexually explicit material are a bad combination which only seem to lead to brutal torment from teenagers. As you can imagine, Matthew was relentlessly teased about the video. Mechak detailed the extent of the teasing, which went way past a few schoolyard bullies. “It went viral. It went beyond his school,” she said. “It went to other schools in California. Kids in the neighborhood who didn’t go to Matthew’s school had heard about it and seen the video that was taken of him. After two weeks of the bullying, Matthew reached his breaking point. His body was found on Nov. 29.

The investigation into the case began when a student at Belmonte Middle School in Saugus, Massachusetts reported that the boy was showing off the naked pictures that Salines had sent him. The Boston Herald reports that the boy told police he had previously had sex with Salines and they had exchanged naked photos. She was later questioned by authorities and admitted that they had sex on a number of occasions but the exact number of sexual encounters has not been revealed. Salines said she had met the boy two months before they became intimate, and he had told her about the personal turmoil he went through after ‘he lost his mother at a young age’. ‘When I looked at him, he did not act like a 15-year-old… he acted like a grown man,’ she said. At one point early in the illegal relationship, he was alone at her house and they ‘were kissing and that she was touching him over his clothing’. ‘Things spiraled out of control,’ Salem News reports, citing the charging documents. They first had sex in a car in the parking lot of a Saugus-area park on March 17. The Boston Herald reports that she pointed the finger at the boy for taking the trysts to the next level, saying that he was the one to suggest they get a hotel room since there was always the threat that her daughter could walk in on them when they were at the house. The boy was friends with Salines’ teenage daughter but the age and sex of her other child are unknown. Salines and the boy booked a room at the local DoubleTree hotel on March 19, two days after their coupling. ‘She said they became close, and she developed feelings that she was not proud of,’ the police report states, according to the Salem News.
