SMH: 13-Year-Old Kansas City BOY Suspended From School For Refusing To Take Off His Bougie Designer Purse!

E.J. would be so proud … Kansas City Teen Boy Suspended For Wearing A Purse To School Via KCTV5 A 13-year-old Kansas eighth-grader says he was suspended from school on Wednesday because he refused to take off his Vera Bradley purse. His furious mother says it is discrimination because girls are allowed to have purses with no repercussions. “I don’t think everyone should be treated differently,” Skylar Davis said. “Everyone should have the same privileges.” Anderson County School District officials did not respond to KCTV5′s repeated efforts to get a comment. Skylar is a student at Anderson County Senior-Junior School. He said he has been carrying the colorful fabric Vera Bradley bag over his shoulder for some time with no issues. “It expresses myself and I think everyone else can wear it, so I wear it as well,” Skylar told KCTV5′s Dave Jordan. He was summoned to Assistant Principal Don Hillard’s office after he wouldn’t take it off. “I went to the office and I refused to take it off, and they suspended me,” the teen explained. School personnel then called his mother, Leslie Willis, to come get her son. “I was a little furious, and I called the school [and spoke to Hillard] to reverify the story, and yeah, he refused to take off his Vera Bradley bag, nothing more to do it,” Willis said. No purse boys allowed. She said she reviewed the student handbook but did not see a mention to bags or purses. She questions the suspension and the timing. “Skylar has been going to school since August with that same Vera Bradley bag on, hasn’t taken it off. What is the problem?” she asked. She said she supports her son and his choices. She said if he wants to carry a Vera Bradley purse or any other type of bag that he should be able to do so without being punished. KCTV5 left messages for Hillard on his office and cell phone. He wasn’t at home Wednesday night. Dakota Haight said the situation with his brother is unfair. “I’ve seen girls wear short shorts. Why don’t they get kicked out? But then he gets kicked out for a purse? That doesn’t make sense. It’s not right,” Haight said. Willis said she was told that the suspension wouldn’t be lifted until Skylar stops wearing the purse, which he says he won’t do. Race Matters: Teenage Boy Gets Kicked Out Of School For Wearing Black Jesus Halloween Costume?

Teenager Thrown Out Of School For Wearing Black Jesus Costume? A high school student from Illinois got a little more attention than he bargained for this Halloween after he was sent home from school for wearing a Jesus costume. The school says they initially sent the boy home because they thought his costume would be religiously offensive, but his mother says she thinks it was because he was black. via Chicago Sun-Times Highland Park High School senior Marshon Sanders was pulled from classes on Halloween, a traditional costume day for students, after dressing like Jesus. According to Sanders’ mother, Angenetta Frison, some teachers found his costume offensive. He was readmitted to school after changing out of the costume, Frison said. Shortly before school let out for the day, the high school released a statement, saying that upon further review, Sanders was told he could put the costume back on. But Frison, who met with school administrators along with her son to discuss the matter, said he chose not to do so. “They realized they might have been premature and didn’t really assess the situation,” said Frison, who wondered if the image of a black Jesus evoked strong feelings. “Race is an issue in our country,” she said. “We still struggle with racism. I don’t know if that was a factor, but it may have been. Would a Caucasian student dressed as Jesus have had the same effect?” It’s no secret that schools in the United States often have policies against anything promoting one religion over another (or sometimes at all) but does this young man’s mother have a point? Or do you think the school’s reasoning for sending him home was the truth? Continue reading

Hide Ya Kids: Teacher Charged With Assault After Hitting Student In The Head With 11-Pound Backpack

This is ridiculous… Teacher Charged With Assault After Hitting Student With 11-Pound Backpack A hot-headed high school teacher who says his “bad temper” was the reason why he hurled a heavy book bag at his students’ head during a confrontation will now face misdemeanor assault charges as a result. via Fox News A Minnesota teacher faces a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly throwing an 11-pound backpack at a student’s head during class. St. Peter High School science teacher Robert Shoemaker also is charged with malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanor, The Free Press of Mankato reported. According to the complaint, a student in Shoemaker’s class said he wasn’t feeling good and was tired, so he put his head on his desk. The student, who was 17 at the time, said he heard Shoemaker walk toward him before he was hit on the head with the backpack. The student was treated for a bruised neck. High school staff weighed the backpack after the incident and determined it weighed 11 pounds, the complaint said. If your “bad temper” causes you to throw things at students’ heads hard enough to leave a bruise, then you don’t need to be taking anger management classes instead of teaching students. SMH. Update: U.S. Attorney To Make Announcement In Georgia Teen’s Gym Death

Hopefully, this announcement will lead to a more thorough investigation of this young black man’s brutal death . U.S. Attorney To Make Announcement In Georgia Teen’s Gym Death This case has had so many twist and turns from his death being ruled accidental to the disrespectfully released crime scene photos. According to CNN: Michael Moore, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, is expected to make an announcement Thursday in the case of Kendrick Johnson. The Georgia teen was found dead inside a rolled-up high school gym mat this year. It’s unclear what exactly Moore will say. He has previously said he was reviewing the case and weighing whether to open an investigation. A news conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET Thursday. Surveillance images and other materials that could shed light on the January death must be released to the boy’s parents, a Lowndes County judge ruled Wednesday. “We are happy to hear we are one step closer to the truth,” Kendrick Johnson’s father, Kenneth Johnson, said after the hearing. A state medical examiner ruled Kendrick, a high school athlete, suffocated after getting stuck in the gym mat. His parents — who believe he was murdered — disputed the findings and won a court order to have their son’s body exhumed for another autopsy. The materials to be released by the judge — photographs from inside the gym at Lowndes County High School, surveillance video from outside and investigative documents — are unlikely to prove what happened to the boy, attorney Chevene King said. We want justice. None of the imagery is believed to show what led to Kendrick’s death, King said. But the materials could cast doubt on the official explanation and nudge officials toward reclassifying Kendrick’s death to allow a new investigation into what happened, King said. “Essentially, it shifts the focus from what the sheriff had offered to other theories that were not explored and that have I think begun to slowly creep to the surface,” King said after the hearing. CNN has obtained surveillance video showing Kendrick walking along a school hallway and into the gym where he was later found dead. Another student is seen walking in ahead of him. The video also shows Kendrick inside the gym, walking out of the shot, and other students playing basketball. The school district and sheriff’s office had refused to release some of the materials, citing state law that exempts the release of “education records of a minor child.” CNN filed a motion last week to join the family’s lawsuit seeking investigative files related to the case, including the surveillance records. The motion was granted. Kendrick’s parents will be among those who will review the images. You can’t prepare yourself for it,” he told reporters. “It’s just something we have to do. We’re fighting for Kendrick to the end.” This family has gone through enough and needs answers. Continue reading

You Gon’ Learn Today: Parents Have Teenage Daughters Arrested For Throwing Secret House Parties While They Were Away

Parents Have Teen Daughters Arrested For Throwing Secret House Party Two 15 and 16-year-old girls are learning the hard way not to disobey the rules of their parents house. The two teens got an unexpected surprise from the law when their parents returned home to find out that they’d been having secret house parties and had them arrested. via The Today Show Two Connecticut sisters are in trouble with police after their parents reportedly had them arrested for throwing a party at their home. It was the third get-together that the girls — who are 15 and 16 years old, and attend Glastonbury High School just outside of Hartford, Conn. – hosted when their parents went away over the Columbus Day weekend, The Hartford Courant reported this week. But they were busted when their parents returned home on Sunday, instead of Monday as planned, police said. Some of the party goers fled from the house, but others remained inside and that’s when the parents called the police — “the right thing to do,” agent James Kennedy of the Glastonbury Police told the newspaper. The teens face charges of permitting a minor to possess alcohol, according to The Hartford Courant. Daaayyyum. So not only did the parents have them arrested, these girls are even facing charges! Bet they won’t have any more house parties without their parents knowing.
