The video below shows a short exerpt of James May’s ” Big Ideas ” series (James is better known for the Top Gear show), and they start by cooking, er, burning a sausage, and then they melt a steel plate. BP Says New ‘Top Hat’ is About 150 Feet From Oil Leak

Photo: BP Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Riser Another week, another attempt by BP to plug the massive oil leak at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. This time they’re trying to use a containment dome to stop the oil from getting in the water (this one is called ‘Top Hat 10’ and should allow a tighter fit). The latest reports are that the top hat is only a few feet from where is needs to be, and that this time, if all goes well, it could allow the capture of pretty much all the oil. Ask Pablo: Diesel Generator Or Batteries?

Image Source: kylemac Dear Pablo: I work for an international organization for development cooperation. Fish Market App Connects Fishermen to Buyers, Reduce Catch Waste

Photo by notsogoodphotography For fishermen, it can be a challenge to know just how much of your catch will have buyers when you haul it back to the docks. And for Italian fishermen, the problem is especially difficult in summer as vacationers make the market less predictable. To help fishermen bring in appropriate catches, Italy’s University of Bari has created a “private cloud” application that connects fishermen out on their boats to buyers on shore. Nissan Claims In-House Hybrid Tech 2-3x Better Than Toyota’s

Photo: Wikipedia , Public domain. Nissan LEAF R&D Side Benefits? So far, Nissan has been licensing Toyota technology for its Altima hybrid.
