Lone Juror Refuses To Convict White Cop That Killed Walter Scott Its starting to look like there may be no justice for Walter Scott , the unarmed black man gunned down by a white South Carolina cop. The jury remained deadlocked throughout Friday after all but one juror decided on a verdict for the officer Michael Slager, who shot a fleeing Scott in the back after a routine traffic stop and it was captured in video. In the recording, Scott can be seen running with some distance between himself and Slager, when Slager simply stopped, raised his gun, and fired five shots into Scott’s back. “I still cannot without a reasonable doubt convict the defendant,” the conflicted juror eventually wrote, in a letter delivered to Judge Newman. “I cannot and will not change my mind,” he wrote. The message would provoke Slager’s defense to request that the judge rules the case a mistrial, but instead, he allotted for extra time and encouraged the panel to reach a verdict. Slager faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted, the judge has also allowed for the jury to consider voluntary manslaughter should they fail to agree on the more serious charge.
Earlier this month, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint by men dressed as police officers who forcibly entered her Paris hotel room. Understandably traumatized by the experience, Kim kept off social media for a week (a lifetime in Kardashian years), and her family pleaded for privacy and compassion. Of course, asking Twitter and the tabloids for an ounce of empathy is like asking for gold panned from a river on Mars or a photo of Donald Trump not looking like he’s struggling with indigestion. Reports that Kim faked the whole thing were everywhere within days of the robbery. This sort of rumor is not uncommon in cases like Kim’s (high-risk heist straight from a screenplay, mega-famous victim) and it was especially easy to imagine that there was some foul play on the part of the Kard clan given that faking drama is their bread and butter. So for the most part, Kim and her family seemed to just shrug off the increasingly ridiculous reports. (One plum gossip item claimed the theft was orchestrated by Kanye so he could cash in on the insurance money from Kim’s jewelry in order to cover his debts. Yeezy is many things. Broke ain’t one of them,) But there was one site that took things a bit too far by claiming to have hard evidence that the theft was a sort of false flag attack orchestrated by the Kardashians in order to drum up publicity and score some quick cash. If you’re familiar with the website Media TakeOut, you might know that it doesn’t have the greatest reputation when it comes to journalistic integrity or, ya know – the truth. The site published multiple articles claiming it had proof that Kim’s robbery was fraudulent. (Said proof was never furnished, of course.) Kim sued MTO, and not coincidentally, earlier today, the editors published a new piece about the theft with one of their signature CRAZY-ASS ALL-CAPS ALARMIST HEADLINES: “MTO EXCLUSIVE REPORT: We Have An UPDATE On The Kim Kardashian ROBBERY — And You Are Gonna Want To READ THIS!!!” The headline was just an elaborate attempt to score some hits off of what is really just a long apology addressed to Kim and her family. It reads, in part: “ Ten days ago a group of masked, armed men broke into Kim Kardashian’s Paris hotel room, bound and gagged her and stole millions worth of jewelry, including a $4.5 million diamond ring given to her by husband Kanye West. “We were one of those news agencies who questioned what may have truly taken place. “But now after speaking to sources, including some connected to the Kardashians, and getting further details on the sequence of events — we are now confident and without a doubt believe that Kim Kardashian was robbed as was reported to the Paris police. Anyone who is still questioning it, is wrong. ” It’s a victory for the Kardashians, and as a bonus, it might be the only factually accurate piece that’s ever appeared on MTO! Look, we get it, Kim makes an easy target and it can be hard to be sympathetic to someone who’s made a career out of flashing her wealth when said career choice comes back and bites her ample backside. But it’s ridiculous to think that she would risk everything she’s worked for a publicity stunt. The most famous people in the world generally don’t have to break the law to score a little media attention, so let’s just drop the whole “Kim faked getting robbed” narrative. Besides, the story is plenty dramatic enough on its own, especially following new reports that the robbery was an inside job . Kylie Jenner is apparently pissed that all of the attention is on sister Kim Kardashian after her ” traumatic robbery ” (is that still what we’re calling it?). Girlfriend went and vented some pretty serious frustrations on her app earlier this afternoon. The younger Jenner railed against weight gain, revealed all about her plastic surgery endeavors, and all around made an ass of herself in talking about sleeping with Scott Disick. About her weight, Kylie said, “[I haven’t had] ass implants .” “You know, I used to be 120 [pounds]. I was really skinny.” Kylie, in case you didn’t know, is 5’6″, and the average weight for a person of her height is somewhere between 118 and 154 pounds. Just because, you know, facts. “Now,” she revealed, “I’m pushing, like, 136.” Oh the horror. It’s totally cool, though, because Kylie said she likes “the chunkiness.” “I don’t really think I have the fattest ass,” she said, “but I know my angles.” So does everyone else, Kylie. Everybody else. She also filmed a video where she revealed the truth behind sleeping with sister Kourtney’s boyfriend, Scott Disick. You know you’re gonna watch this crap, right? Don’t let us hold you up, go ahead – indulge your saucy, seedy side. Y’all know Kylie does on the regular. Kylie Jenner: True or False? She also discussed her boobs, and how she considered getting implants. “They’re not big,” she lied. “I’ve thought about [getting breast implants], but I’m like, ‘Why ruin it?’ ” “I have really good boobs naturally,” she continued, “and they’re a cute little size.” Don’t worry, though, because you remember how she denied, denied, denied the lip filler rumors ? She’s about to do the same with boob job rumors. “I’m not against it, but right now, it’s a ‘no’ from me.” Oh, okay. She also came clean about having structural surgery done to her face; namely her jaw and her nose. “People started saying that [I got my jaw reconstructed and cheeks sculpted] when I was 16,” she admonished. “You think Kris Jenner, at 16 years old, would let me get cheek and jaw reconstructive surgery?” she asked. In a word, yes. She tripped up, however, and said that she always “used” to love her jaw, and that she was never self-conscious about it. What’s with the past-tense, girlie? Blac Chyna Doesn’t Know Rob Kardashian’s Friends Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna … bless this mess. This couple is absolutely in shambles this week — they’re always in shambles, honestly, but this week has been especially rough. It all started on Monday night when Rob made the hilarious but seriously uncool move of tweeting out Kylie Jenner’s phone number . Rob Kardashian Releases Kylie Jenner Phone Numer He did this, he said, because Rob’s sisters threw a baby shower for him and didn’t invite Chyna. And that does sound like a rude, petty move, but as it turns out, the plan was for Rob and Chyna to have separate baby showers because they had broken up . But then earlier today we heard that Rob and Chyna are still together, they’re just not speaking or texting . Yes, it’s all terribly mature and romantic, isn’t it? Except where it’s actually the dumbest, most pitiful excuse for a relationship we’ve seen on reality television in recent memory. Don’t worry though, it gets worse: in a new Rob & Chyna clip, which you can see above, Blac Chyna tells Scott Disick that she’s never even met any of Rob’s friends. She’s engaged to Rob, she’ll give birth to his first child in just a few short weeks, and she’s never met any of his friends. Yeah, that sounds normal. The clip starts with Chyna and Scott planning a party for Rob. Chyns sounds a little cautious, telling Scott that “Rob always gets nervous and chokes up when he’s around a lot of people,” but Scott shuts it down, saying that “everyone needs to start spending time together.” What’s that, Scott? A family should spend time together instead of avoiding each other and fighting over idiotic nonsense? Surely you must be joking! Scott continues acting as conductor of the Truth Train, saying that Rob’s “got all these friends that he grew up with that you don’t even know. They keep calling me like ‘Why have I not met Rob’s future wife and the mother of his child?'” Sadly, Scott says that Rob just kind of shrugs it off when he asks him about it. As for Chyna, she later tells the camera that “I don’t know none of Rob’s friends, and that’s just different.” And really, if we had to pick just one statement to sum up Rob and Chyna’s relationship, it would be her saying “that’s just different,” tone and all. We’re not sure exactly what’s going on with these two, and we’re not entirely convinced that even they know what’s going on with them. But it’s probably safe to say that it’s real damn weird. If she doesn’t know any of his friends, that’s a bad sign. If they’re not talking, that’s a bad sign. If you consider basically anything that’s happened in their relationship since they began dating at the beginning of this year, they’re all bad signs. You’ve got to give it up for those Kardashians — whether it’s feuding with each other, being petty and awful, or just having terrible relationships, they really just go for it. The killing of an allegedly unarmed African-American at the hands of a white police officer has led to a state of emergency in North Carolina. Keith Lamont Scott Shooting Leads to Charlotte Protests, Riots Governor Pat McCrory made this declaration on Thursday morning after protests and riots in the streets of Charlotte turned especially ugly and violent. The National Guard and State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the area after Keith Scott, a 43-year old black man, was shot and killed by officers on Tuesday. According to police, he refused to drop his handgun prior to the fatal incident. According to family members and a witness, Scott was holding a book, not a weapon. This sort of controversial shooting has become all too common across the nation, of course, with Terence Crutcher also being shot and killed in Tulsa this week. Multiple videos of Crutcher’s death have gone public, with neither making it appear as if the 40-year old deserved to be shot: Terence Crutcher: Shot and Killed by Police Terence Crutcher Helicopter Video: What Happened? In response to Scott’s shooting, a peaceful really turned violent yesterday when civilians threw rocks and bottles at police officers. They also broke into Charlotte storefronts and smashed windows along the way. Officers defended themselves with rubber bullets, tear gas, flash-bang grenades and pepper spray. One protester was shot and four police officers suffered non-life threatening injuries, city officials confirmed on Twitter. Wednesday marked the second straight night of unrest in North Carolina’s largest city, following numerous protesters and 16 officers being injured on Tuesday evening. As reported above, the turmoil prompted Governor McCrory to declare a state of emergency in an attempt to restore peace. “Any violence directed toward our citizens or police officers or destruction of property should not be tolerated,” McCrory said in a statement. Bank of America, which is based out of Charlotte, told its employees not to report to work in their uptown offices, while Mayor Jennifer Roberts is considering a city-wide curfew. There have also been protests in Tulsa in response to the Crutcher shooting, although these have remained more calm and civil. The White House has reported that President Barack Obama spoke by telephone on Wednesday with the mayors of Charlotte and Tulsa. Elsewhere, The American Civil Liberties Union is urging police officer to release their camera footage of the Keith Law incident. Roberts said she planned to view the footage on Thursday, yet did not indicate when (or if ) it would be made public. “We call for the full release of all facts available,” said William Barber, president of the state’s chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, in a statement. Earlier in the night, Scott’s wife, Rakeyia, issued her own statement, describing her family as “devastated” and appealing for peace in the city. “We have more questions than answers about Keith’s death,” she said.
Keith Lamont Scott Killed By Police While Reading A Book, Waiting At Bus Stop A disabled man was shot and killed by police today in North Carolina and their story isn’t adding up. According to police reports, they say the man was armed and posed a threat to the officers. His family however, says Keith Lamont Scott was disabled, and usually sits and reads a book while he waits for his child to get off the school bus from school. Here are more details from WCNC News . Police say they were serving an outstanding warrant when they came upon Keith Lamont Scott in his car. They say Scott got out, had a gun on him, and put the officers in imminent danger. Officer Brentley Vinson shot Scott. “Man was in his truck, reading a book waiting for his kid to come home,” said a man on scene. “Cops shot him, for nothing.” Emergency services were called to the scene where they transported Scott to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. “As is standard procedure with any officer involved shooting, Officer Vinson has been placed on paid Administrative Leave,” the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a statement Tuesday night. Officer Vinson has been employed with the CMPD since July 2014. He is African American. Scott’s daughter Lyric Scott came to the scene in front of news cameras to defend her dad’s character. A man who said he’s the brother of Scott said to NBC Charlotte this evening: “Just know that all white people are (expletive) devils. All white cops are (expletive devils, and all white people.” “He was waiting on his son to get from school and police came out with no.. he didn’t have on no uniform to determine if he was a police or not — he was an undercover and he just jumped out and yelled ‘gun’ and shot at him,” he told NBC Charlotte’s Tanya Mendis. “I think they shot him four times, I’m not sure, but he’s dead.” Hostility among the community grew quickly as word of what happened spread. A woman saying she was the man’s daughter posted a video on Facebook Live from the scene. “Shot my Daddy for being black!
