On Saturday, October 29th of 2011, “Chicken And Beef Present: Monkey Gang: The Mockumentary” had an exclusive screening at the Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF). The movie offers a satirical take on the negative elements of hip hop with a mock-documentary about a fictional rap group that seeks success by glamorizing drug dealing and violence. The creators of the movie managed to get reactions from many people in attendance including Jacqueline Blaylock, the director of programming for the festival. While some in attendance, believed the movie went too far and was too harsh on hip-hop culture, renowned blogger Jackie Jasper of Diary Of A Hollywood Street King appreciated the movie’s satire and parody of negativity in rap music and gave the movie two thumbs up. After the screening the movie sparked a lively discussion on rap music as it is portrayed in the media and images of African Americans in the media. Co-director Ariel Schulman warned audience that nobody would be able to sleep after seeing film. By Kevin P. Sullivan Lauren Bittner in Paranormal Activity 3 Photo: Paramount Pictures It’s not often that you see people standing for hours in a line that wraps around the block just for the chance to get scared out of their minds, but that’s exactly what happened Tuesday night in New York at an advance fan screening of “Paranormal Activity 3.” Fans tweeted for a chance to check out the third entry in the found-footage horror series and to learn how the haunting started. Some of the hopeful audience members showed up as early as the morning before the 10 p.m. screening. Once inside the theater, the lucky crowd competed for prizes like iPods, only heightening the excitement in the room. When it was finally time to screen the movie, directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost showed up, appropriately decked out for Halloween with fake knives and syringes lodged in each of their heads. Schulman warned people that they weren’t ready for the scares in “Paranormal Activity 3,” promising that nobody in the theater was going to sleep that night. Among chants of “P-A-3,” the lights dimmed and the screams started, and they didn’t stop for 84 minutes. As soon as the screening ended, the fan reaction was clear. “I thought ‘Paranormal Activity’ was tuck-your-feet-under-the-blanket horrifying,” said Jeffrey Caban, who claimed his heart was still racing. Nelson Rosa said he understood “the saying ‘my heart skipped a beat’ [for the] first time ever.” “It was intense. It had me screaming, jumping up and down, covering my eyes, everything,” Maria Huighes said. Are you excited for “Paranormal Activity 3”? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter ! First time writer-director Evan Glodell spent years obsessing over his feature debut Bellflower , a raw tale of love, betrayal, and apocalyptic-level emotional tumult set among a group of near-nihilistic twenty-somethings in Southern California. (Part of that obsession? Custom-building the badass, fire-breathing Mother Medusa muscle car , which figures into the film.) After the jump, see a new exclusive image from Bellflower and find out how you can see it in Los Angeles before it opens on Aug. 5.
On July 5, 2010 , Justin Bieber was coming to a city near by us. We wanted to go more than anything, so we begged our parents to let us go. They finally said yes, and we were SO excited! But when we tried to buy the tickets, they were sold out. We were super disappointed and upset about it. We still wanted to go out to the concert venue on the day of the show, even though we couldn’t get in, because just being in the same place as Justin is amazing. July 5th came quickly, and we got my mom to drive us. We got there early, and the Kiss FM booth had a contest to win the very last pair of tickets. We entered it, but we didn’t win. We went and stood behind the Verizon Theater on the other side of the fence where the tour buses were parked, and we talked to Sean Kingston, Legacy from New Boyz, Iyaz, Ryan Good, and some members of Legaci. Then Justin walked outside. He waved, smiled, and lifted up his shirt to show his abs to everyone. It became super crazy outside then! We stood there screaming, hoping he would come out again, and he did. He ran up to the fence, kicked the fence, got a bug in his eye, and went back in. We started crying because we thought it would be the last time we would see him in person, since we didn’t have tickets to the show. Then Scooter and Carin walked outside, and this is where the video begins. And for Scooter & Carin, thank you for what you did for us. You gave us the best night of our lives and we will never forget it. Love, Marissa and Cathryn @CATHnMarisLuvJB See original here: On July 5, 2010, Justin Bieber was coming to a city near by us….
My name is Jackie. My Bieber Experience happened in February 2011 when Justin was in Toronto for his Canadian Premiere of Never Say Never. It was totally unexpected and even 5 months after, I still get butterflies in my stomach thinking about it. This is the story of how I met Justin Bieber. The weekend before the premiere, KiSS 92.5, a popular radio station announced they were giving away passes to the screening. I spent day in and out listening to the radio, I was yelling at my brother to keep calling when the lines were busy. I was GLUED to the radio. Unfortunately I didn’t win the tickets but decided to do the contest which was to make a poster and the best winning posters would get free tickets. The morning of my friend and I HUSSLED to make these posters, we even included CHUCK NORRIS in one. How awesome is that? Anyways, we found out that Justin was staying in the Royal York Hotel and was holding a press conference in the hotel. One of my friends who was with us, knew her way really well around that hotel since she’s stayed there a couple of times. We decided to take our chances and perhaps get a chance to be in the same room as Justin. If we got kicked out by security, we got kicked out, whatever, we’d still try for those passes. Anyways, trying to look as unbieber fevered as possible (even though we had purple streaks on our faces and wore an excessive amount of purple) we ninja’ed ourselves in the hotel being unnoticed until one of the clerk came up to us. She was honestly the BEST. She’s like, “Ladies, I know why your here and I’m supposed to kick you out but go up the escalators and to your left and he will be there”. Trying not to freak out, we make ourselves look casual and high class and told ourselves if anything we are looking for the bathroom. There were a group of 5 girls already upstairs and obviously telling us that we would be kicked out if we didn’t leave, yadda yadda yadda, which I mean is totally understandable, which girl WOULDN’T want to have Justin to herself? We kinda just brushed the girls off and quietly sat in the hotel. His press conference was supposed to happen soon and since everyone was starting to set up, all of a sudden some security guards are heading towards us. We automatically thought we were getting kicked out but they were like, “We know why you are here, and we will let you stay ONLY if you don’t scream. We wont guarantee anything but at least you will be closer to him than any other girls here in Toronto”. You have NO idea how bad I wanted to scream but I knew that I couldn’t blow my chance. Justin was FASHIONABLY late but it was worth it. There were no more than 15 girls from the outside. The rest were workers. In total maybe 25 people. He talked to us, took pictures with us, he even signed my Vanity Fair magazine that I bought that day. Once he entered we still all waited there hoping he’d come out again and see us, but all of a sudden we hear Justin’s voice LITERALLY saying, “Wait, what about all my fans out there? Where are they? Are they staying out there? But there’s so much room here, I want them here, they are the reason I’m here, bring them in”. The public is RARELY invited to see a private press conference, and the one lady told us we were one of the luckiest girls alive. He got asked a bunch of awesome questions and then only 2 of his fans were allowed to ask him a question. The first one asked: Will you marry me? and the other one asked: Do you miss your hometown alot? and once the second girl finished, the annoucer was about to say Alright folks, were done for today UNTIL I raised my hand as fast as I could and Justin said, we have time for one more and picked ME. I asked him if he still plays hockey. I recorded ALL of this on my blackberry. When he answered my question, he didn’t look at the media, he looked right into my eyes. I then knew that he was all in it for his fans and that he charishes us SO much. Even though I didn’t win the passes to his screening, I TALKED to Justin. I looked him right in the eye. He is SUCH a down to earth guy, I would have NEVER expected it. And trust me ladies, he looks SO MUCH better in person than in photos. and he looks SEXY in photos. Justin, if you read this, I hope you’ll follow me sometime. I appreciate all you have done and I thank you for picking me out of all the girls to answer my question. You are my idol. Never Say Never. -@jaackiedzionek Read the rest here: My name is Jackie. My Bieber Experience happened in February …
