‘Glee’ Teases With Unrequited Love For Valentine’s Day

Sing along with the ‘Glee’-cap about Kurt and Rachel’s broken hearts and Puck’s new crush. By Jim Cantiello Chris Colfer in the “Silly Love Songs” episode of “Glee” Photo: Adam Rose/FOX We had a second helping of “Glee” this week, and appropriately enough, it was an all-dessert course of “Silly Love Songs” timed for Valentine’s Day. But there were a whole lot of hearts broken in this episode, so here are the lyrics to our dark tribute to the latest plot developments. Welcome to Love Songs Week. Jealousy is driving “Glee” crazy. It’s Valentine’s at McKinley High, Teenagers done lost their minds, Mono spread in a kissing booth. Santana’s evil, but she’s oh so fine … Exposes that Quinn is hung up On her ex and they totes used tongue, Tangled in a fight with Lauren the mighty Gets her ass beat like Anderson. Blaine’s a jerk, oh, the worst kind of a flirt Accidentally makes Kurt think that he wants him. All out of whack, Blaine puts his Thicke in the Gap I swear I’m not being dirty, that’s exactly what happened. Blaine tried to woo him with a Thicke song! [ Gong! ] But the manager said it’s all wrong! [ Gong! ] Blaine’s crush got fired, so let’s sound the gong! [ Gong! ] Kurt sits with a broken heart. He’s ready for a boyfriend but it ain’t sweeps, darlin’. Stuck in a prison of stops and starts, One day he’ll get to be gay. I hope the writers let him have a kiss That rocks his whole world to his core. Until then his storyline is starting to bore. Oh, oh, no… Oh, oh, no. Now it’s time to move along To Artie and Mike’s cute song. “PYT” made me go “weee,” But Tina’s solo said, “Sanity, so long!” Puck’s out for the chubby girl, All he wants is to rock her world. So he sings her a song called “Fat Bottomed Girls,” but she gets all offended. Boy, she ain’t no Queen fan. He’s out to get the only girl he can’t forget The one things she isn’t swallowing are his advances. She finally agrees, when he gets down on his knees And presents her with a piece of ring-shaped candy. He bought the chubby girl a Ring Pop! [ Gong! ] And that’s the thing that hit her sweet spot! [ Gong! ] All fat girls want are some RING POPS! [ Gong! ] Oh, “Glee,” don’t break my heart. You had me at hello but lost me when we parted. The third Katy Perry cover this season. What’s the reason? Is Mrs. Brand paying all your bills? Why else would you be her shill? But please don’t get me wrong At least they’re not all Ke$ha songs… Oh, oh, no. [ ad-libs ] Her love ain’t my drug. I’d hate to see Rachel rap and crap. It’d be the worst thing ever. [ Outro ] Recapping “Glee” is makin’ me crazy. Related Videos Musical ‘Glee-Caps’ Of Season Two

Jennifer Lopez Brings ‘Latina Flavor’ To ‘American Idol,’ Fans Say

‘Paula Abdul did her thing, but J.Lo can do better,’ one fan says at auditions for Lopez’s ‘On the Floor’ video. By MTV News staff Steven Tyler, Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson Photo: Michael becker / FOX Two episodes into the new season of “American Idol,” fans are weighing in on the show’s newest judges: rock icon Steven Tyler and Hollywood triple threat Jennifer Lopez. Having already judged talent in New Jersey and New Orleans , some of Lopez’s biggest fans are loving what the New York native is bringing alongside side Tyler and “Idol” vet Randy Jackson at the table. “She looked amazing. She looked clean. She looked fresh,” Falon Johnson told MTV News at auditions for J.Lo’s “On the Floor” music video. “She’s like the new Paula Abdul. I’m excited to see what she brings to ‘American Idol,’ because she has some tough shoes to fill. I think she’s gonna do just fine. She’s J.Lo!” Carlos Ortiz thought Lopez found her footing at the table and that her opinions and criticisms were justified. “I think she is going to be fabulous,” he said. “Her consistency in every way, every detail, every mannerism that she puts out there, I think she’s gonna bring up lots of good things for these kids.” Fellow “On the Floor” auditioner Jason Maldonado was excited to see Jenny From the Block being herself on the show. “I think she’s bringing the Latina flavor to it,” he said. “So it’s different. Paula Abdul did her thing, but J.Lo can do better.” Ortiz also thinks fans might be tuning in just to see Lopez. “I think they made rather right choices. I watched the ratings last night; they’re over 26 million,” he said. “They actually saw the show. I think they’re doing great, and I think it has to do with J.Lo.” How do you think J.Lo is doing on the judges’ panel so far? Share your reviews in the comments! ‘American Idol’ Experts Talk Steven Tyler, Early Faves

‘Idol’ watchers praise New Orleans standouts and a Simon-less panel that seems to ‘having a blast.’ By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson on the season premiere of “American Idol” Photo: FOX Despite less-than-stellar initial ratings, “American Idol” is coming out of the blocks for its 10th season with something even more important than audience share, particularly for a reality show hitting late middle age, and that’s buzz. With a format that is well-beyond familiar by now, the injection of fresh blood via new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez has amped up the watercooler talk for a show that some had predicted was on the decline. Despite fears that the show would stumble without the harsh guiding hand of departed go-to judge Simon Cowell, MTV News’ , said instead of mourning the loss of King Cowell, he’s praising the rise of Tyler. “If anything, Steven Tyler’s wacky addition proved that it’s not a ‘mean judge’ that keeps me jazzed for ‘Idol.’ It’s an unhinged one,” said Cantiello about the entertaining, unpredictable shenanigans pulled out by Tyler in the first two nights of audition episodes this week. “Truth be told, I never realized how much I missed Paula [Abdul] last year. Tyler’s colorful language, zany metaphors and deafening jangly man-jewelry was just the entertaining wild card the two-night premiere needed to give it a must-see facelift.” Cantiello was glad that the new trio, which also includes sole returning judge Randy Jackson, didn’t fall into the same old “mean Simon” and “too-nice Paula” tropes. Lopez easily mixed Abdul’s sweetness with an undercurrent of Cowell’s honesty, while Tyler deftly pinwheeled between wacky Paula-isms amid stinging putdowns. And already he’s delivered one of the season’s top lines in his zinger to belcher Michael Perotto courtesy of “Tommy Boy”: “Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?” MJ Santilli, founder of one of the leading “Idol” blogs, MJsBigBlog.com , agreed with Cantiello, calling Tyler the “breakout” star on the show so far. “The new panel seems to be having a blast,” she said. “Fun has been sorely missing from the judges’ table the past couple of years. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez’s enthusiasm has energized Randy Jackson. The fresh, new panel has me not missing Simon Cowell at all. Yet.” The real test, though, will be when the show goes live on March 1, which will provide proof of whether the apparent camaraderie among the three is real or the product of clever editing. But what about, you know, the singers, who are ostensibly the focus of the show? Santilli said the New Jersey singers on Wednesday night were mostly weak, but maybe that was because they held back the best stuff in order to let the new panelists shine and get some traction. “The New Orleans hopefuls had more standouts,” she said of Thursday night’s bunch. “At least, there are a couple that I remember, like the two teen tenors, Brett Loewenstern and Jacee Badeaux.” With the age limit dropped to 15 this year, Santilli suspects the producers are gunning for a teen winner in season 10, but with high schoolers having struggled in the live shows last year, it’s unclear if the young’uns can handle the pressure of performing in front of an audience. With less jokey singers and a higher talent ratio on Thursday night, Cantiello also thought New Orleans offered up some promising contestants we might see again in Hollywood. “I can’t say I’m looking forward to another three weeks of audition episodes, though,” he added. “Let’s get to the live shows already!” Do you agree with our experts about the first two nights of “Idol” auditions? ‘American Idol’ Season 10 Premiere: Fans Sound Off!

Fans review new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson on the season premiere of “American Idol” Photo: FOX The morning after the debut episode of season 10 of “American Idol,” fans are saying the long-running reality singing program has regained some of its lost luster. Considering that the early audition rounds are usually filled with the most “entertaining” singers, a lot of that praise had to do with the bang-up job of new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. MTV News’ comments sections and a special Twitter feed tied to our first-ever post-“Idol” were inundated with comments, rants and raves about Wednesday night’s show, some positive, some negative and a few just plain angry. “I thought Steven Tyler was hilarious,” Garrett wrote. “I personally loved him, and I can’t wait to see more.” Ted agreed, adding, “My expectations were low but I thought they did good. I will watch it again.” Plipton approached the show with caution, fearing it would not be as good without beloved iconic “mean judge” Simon Cowell. “But I truly enjoyed it,” Plipton said. “I thought Steven was hilarious and honest. I didn’t expect much from him or Jennifer and I thought they did a great job. I think this season is going to be great. I loved their rawness and honesty. More than anything, I enjoyed Steven. He is a funny guy.” Sarah, however, was not won over. She said she watched Wednesday night’s show, but would probably bail until the Hollywood rounds. “I used to enjoy the auditions, mainly for the bad ones,” she said, offering an early assessment of the audition rounds. “But this season has fallen flat. Sorry, the goofs are just more entertaining.” DPB thought the show was just boring and suggested that none of the judges “know what they were talking about or doing,” labeling Tyler’s comments “superficial” and “obvious.” Over on Twitter, we were swamped with comments at the #idolwithoutsimon hashtag we created for the live stream. Mrs_FiFi said, “Steven Tyler made me forget all about Simon last nite. Steven is fascinating, funny & he can SING.” ArchuletaGirl begged to differ, though, tweeting, “Idol just isn’t the same without Simon. These new judges keep getting suckered into putting bad people through.” Others dubbed Tyler “kinda pervy,” possibly for the legendary rock star’s long, lusty looks at some of the contestants and comments about their skirt lengths. Adam Mersel had props for Lopez, opining that “J.Lo is poppin’ on #A10. She knows what’s up. And Steven Tyler is officially creepy. Oh Idol how I missed you.” What did you think of the first night of “American Idol”? Sound off in the comments below! Steven Tyler Explains His ‘American Idol’ Judging Style

‘I take what I’ve grown up with, which is being a very harsh judge of myself, of my vocals, of my band,’ Aerosmith frontman says. By Kara Warner Steven Tyler Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images The “American Idol” season 10 premiere is just a day away, and to celebrate, MTV News has been rolling out our big guns, with “Idol” cheat sheets , breaking news and everything you need to know before Wednesday night’s big opener. On Tuesday (January 18), we had the opportunity to chat with new judge Steven Tyler, by way of a conference call with a handful of curious reporters. The Aerosmith frontman was just as energetic and amusing as he’s been in recent appearances, proving that his presence and commentary on the show will likely be a highlight each week. Of his experience thus far, Tyler said it has been good, adding that his judging style comes from his personal experience in the business. “I don’t take what happened to me this morning or last night or with the band … I don’t take that into judging kids [like] other people might have,” Tyler explained. “I kind of take what I’ve grown up with, which is being a very harsh judge of myself, of my vocals, of my band, and lay that across the talent that comes across my view.” Given that Tyler seems to be enjoying his new position — particularly that he gets to sit next to fellow newbie Jennifer Lopez, who he called “a fox,” — everyone wants to know how long he plans to be on the show. “I have more than a one-year contract,” Tyler revealed. “But as you know, things are what they are. But I have more than a one-year contract. I’ll give you that one.” Although we’re still far from season 11, we also got an early tip for next season’s contestants. Tyler cautioned against auditioning with Aerosmith tunes, specifically “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” — unless you can knock it out of the park. “They have to sing it good, you know. They must have sung in the seven weeks [of auditions], they probably got, you know, 15, 16 [performances of] ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,’ ” Tyler said. “It was hard for me because it always seemed to me when they said they were going to sing it, I knew someone at home was … like, ‘If you sing that song, Tyler will be enamored.’ And when I didn’t like it, I felt a little ill at ease to tell them, ‘You know what? You really didn’t sing it good.’ ” But Tyler said that if we should hear any Aerosmith on the show beyond the tryout rounds, those performances will likely be solid. “If any of them sing it now, remember we are down to 20 great people. So if they did, it would be nothing but good.” Don’t miss our “American Idol” live stream “Judging the Judges: An ‘Idol’ Without Simon,” featuring post-show analysis from Jim Cantiello and special guests, on MTV.com this Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET. ‘American Idol’ Judge Randy Jackson: Sitting In Simon’s Chair Is ‘Weird’

‘I look down the table and I go, ‘Kara? No. Paula? No. Ellen? No. Simon? No. Where am I?’ ‘ Jackson tells MTV News of season 10. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Randy Jackson Photo: MTV News For nine seasons of “American Idol,” Simon Cowell anchored the judges’ table as a rotating cast of industry personalities cycled in and out. Paula Abdul headed for the exit after eight years, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres came and quickly went, and then Cowell himself officially departed after at least one season in which he seemed to have grown somewhat bored of the competition show. Now Randy Jackson is the last remaining original judge and has commandeered Cowell’s chair at the end of the judges’ table. But with the season 10 set to premiere on Wednesday , he’s still not totally comfortable. “It is a little weird, and sometimes I look down the table and I go, ‘Kara? No. Paula? No. Ellen? No. Simon? No. Where am I?’ ” Jackson told MTV News recently. “American Idol,” he admits, is a vastly transformed show this season. Various rules have been changed, producers talk openly about injecting new vigor into the competition, and two new faces in Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have joined up as judges. “It’s just a different kind of show,” said Jackson. “Simon is irreplaceable. People have been saying, ‘Who’s going to be the mean one?’ Simon is still the mean one.” Yet as much as things will change this season, other elements will remain the same: sometimes the judges will be of one mind about a contestant, and at others their opinions will diverge — perhaps with a quarrel. “Jennifer, Steven and I all agree a lot [and] we disagree a lot,” he said. “You’re going to see all flavors of the rainbow because we all think sort of the same way because we’re music industry professionals.” How do you think the “Idol” judges will do without Simon? Dr. Dre’s Detox Not Due April 20, Rep Says

A rep for rapper/producer says viral video isn’t referring to long-awaited album’s release date. By Jayson Rodriguez Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage After a video went viral of Dr. Dre seemingly announcing an April 20 release date for his long-awaited Detox, a rep for the rapper/producer told MTV News that the clip wasn’t referring to the album’s arrival. So what was the legendary producer referring to in the clip? That remains unclear at press time. Dr. Dre has been at work on his highly anticipated LP for years now, scraping together several versions of the songs at various times; in one case, he gave several beats slated for his project to 50 Cent for the G-Unit superstar’s debut album. In November, Dre’s first single, “Kush,” hit the Web and was soon followed by a potential follow-up, the Eminem-assisted “I Need a Doctor.” A month later, Dre premiered the video for “Kush” featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. The clip, along with a cover story in the latest issue of hip-hop magazine XXL, seemed to confirm that the rap Chinese Democracy was finally slated for release. The producer’s penchant for perfectionism has long been the reason for the delay of Detox, which will be Dre’s first album since his 2001 LP in 1999. “[I’m] trying to put it out by the end of the fall,” Dre said in an interview this past summer about Detox. “Trying to give everybody what they’ve been waitin’ for and make sure they’re not disappointed; that’s all I’m doing.” What do you think Dre was referring to in the viral video? Share your theories in the comments. Related Artists Dr. Dre
