Angel Brinks Exclusive Interview Basketball Wives LA returned with a bang this season, and the claws have already come out — just a few episodes in! We caught up with Angel Brinks to talk about what it’s like to be thrust into a group with all their existing drama, and go more in depth into her emotional episode last Sunday . This is only your second season on BBWLA, so you’re still a bit of a newbie. What was it like being thrown into this catty reality TV world? Something in the back of my mind was off, obviously, because I thought coming into it that we were going to form some kind of sisterhood. You know, we’ve all been linked to professional basketball players…I figured they know ins and outs of this world and they could teach me a few things and we’d form a bond. But once I got thrown in I was like “Hold on — this wasn’t the plan!” I’m optimistic, I thought my personality and positive attitude had the capacity to change how they’d react to me or warm them up. But but they were just so mean! Draya brought you into the group, but then abruptly left mid-season and decided not to return. Do you miss having her around to navigate interactions with all these new ladies — especially in the crazier situations? I really wanted her to stay, I thought we could have had fun together. But even though she decided coming back wasn’t right for her, she encouraged me. She tells me to see it through and just don’t quit. The other ladies, they don’t know her like I do, and she’s a really great person. Plus, she brings so much life to the show! So yes, I was sad to see her go, but I understand. To get a little more serious, you shared some dark experiences from your past on this last episode. How have you dealt with sharing info about your late husband with your son as he’s gotten old enough to understand, and how has he been processing that? When [my son] was born, I had close family with me and they told me not to worry about the future, and to instead focus on the present and enjoying my baby. Basically, we could deal with it when the time comes. Then he hit preschool, then school, then the questions started to come. He’d watch cartoons, see situations there and wonder “where’s my daddy?” And since my husband was a rapper, I’d tell him “God needed him to come and play music for the angels.” But eventually he’d wonder “Doesn’t God know I need him too?” It’s been very difficult as he’s aged. As he got older, I had my daughter and We’d travel with Tyreke [Evans], and he’d look out at the clouds and ask if this is where God lives. I’d tell him yes, and he’d get all excited, looking out the window hoping to see his Daddy. He’ll still say he wishes his Daddy was here. What got cut from the show, and the reason we really began crying together, he said “I’m happy for my sister. I look at her and I think at least she has someone that loves her.” I had to tell him, “No, we ALL love you!” It’s sad, because even though he has uncles, cousins, grandparents, all of us — but that father figure is missing in his life, and there’s a void. I’m not sure what’s harder — when fathers are in your life and leave or die or never knowing them at all. When someone passes, at least we knew them and had them in our lives. As a parent I struggle with that. It’s hard to talk about certain things with him. He plays several video games where he sees characters die then come back to life, and I think some part of him still believes that his Daddy might come back. It’s just very hard. How have fan reactions been since Sunday’s episode? I feel like what’s going on in the world is so bad with all the hate we see. So, I didn’t think I would get so much support after this episode aired. I’m so glad and truly thankful that so many people reached out to support me, and many could actually relate to what I went through and have had similar experiences. This is what I want for the show. People look at something like Basketball Wives and see “Ohh, they have fancy cars, nice homes, clothes, etc.” and even though I’m not a basketball WIFE, I share in that lifestyle as well. BUT Behind all that, there’s real life and relatable issues, we’re able to give a voice to that. I just have to thank everyone so much for all their support. So, can you give us a little preview on what’s coming up for you the rest of this season? Do you end up clashing with anyone in particular? I really wish I could tell you! Of course I can’t speak much, but I do have my five-year anniversary party for my fashion line in an upcoming episode. There were several celebs there — Floyd Mayweather came, Lil Kim. I actually wasn’t going to celebrate, but people pushed me. 5 years is a milestone in a business. BUT, what you would think would be a beautiful setting didn’t exactly turn out to be. So there are a lot of twists and turns for the show and me getting into it with some people you wouldn’t necessarily expect. There’s a lot of surprises coming up. I will say that it’s a very emotional season for me, so I’m apologizing in advance for the tears *laughs.* But this is my real life. Nice! Yes, Sarah Silverman may have delivered the single line that stood out the most on Monday night at the Democratic National Convention. But Michelle Obama delivered the speech that will stand the test of time. Framing the argument for this election not around party lines, but around “who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives,” Obama endorsed Hillary Clinton in the most passionate way possible. Speaking candidly about Sasha and Malia, Obama brought up the topic of bullying, a clear reference to Republican nominee Donald Trump. “We don't stoop to their level. Our motto is: 'When they go low, we go high,'” she said. Words matter, she said. Actions matter. When she and her husband moved into the White House years ago and and their 10-year old and their 7-year old went off to school with armed Secret Service agents, Obama recalled: “I saw their little faces pressed up against the window and all I could think was, 'What have we done?'” Ever since then, she had focused primarily on making this experience into an important one for her kids. “We urge them to ignore those who question their father's citizenship or faith,” she said. “We insist that the hateful language they hear from public figures on TV does not represent the true spirit of this country.” Obama used this angle as a way to segue into why Clinton needs to be elected President. “What I admire most about Hillary is she never buckled under pressure,” the First Lady said. “Hillary Clinton has never quit on anything in her life. “When I think of the kind of president I want for my girls and all our children, that's what I want – the proven strength to persevere.” Later on, Obama talked emotionally about how the White House was built by slaves. About how her two African-American daughters now play on its lawn with their dog. And about how the Republicans spent their Convention trying to tell viewers about all the awful things now going on in the country. “Don't let anyone ever tell you that this country isn't great,” she said in a pointed reference to Trump's campaign slogan. “This, right now, is the greatest country on earth.” The speech was lauded as one of the all-time best on social media. And a certain Commander-in-Chief clearly liked it: It made you understand why someone might want to plagiarize Michelle Obama . Watch The Bachelorette Season 12 Episode 9 Online These were the questions on The Bachelorette Season 12 Episode 9 , which picked up in the wake of last week’s rose ceremony cliffhanger. A cliffhanger that was indeed a heartbreaker for one suitor. Despite Luke Pell’s last ditch effort to proclaim his love for JoJo Fletcher and keep his run on the ABC show alive, he was sent home. “I started to struggle not knowing where you stood,” JoJo told Luke, who would bawl in the limo. “I just can’t believe I squandered it away.” “I had no idea that I wasn’t saying enough.” “I feel like a person that’s been hit by a train,” he added. “I thought we had a future together. I woulda been ready to propose to her today.” Laying it on a little thick, don’t you think, Luke? Don’t get us wrong, we thought Chase McNary would be shown the door before Pell. Would Chase stand a prayer against the top two? We say the top two because Jordan Rodgers and Robby Hayes were the clear favorites to earn Fantasy Suite cards and a trip to the finale. That’s exactly what happened in beautiful Thailand. Just about the only thing that could keep Jordan and JoJo off of each other was the fact that kissing wasn’t allowed in an ancient temple. They didn’t stay there for long, we’re guessing. Still, despite their chemistry and connection, JoJo can’t help but wonder if there’s something about Aaron Rodgers’ brother she’s missing. “I want to trust him, but if I trust him it scares me a lot to feel like I could possibly have my heart broken,” Fletcher said of her #1 suitor. “I’m hoping at some point all those fears go away.” Don’t hold your breath, from what we’re hearing. Aaron Rodgers vs. Jordan Rodgers: Timeline of a Football Family Feud! He says all the appropriate things, though, which is part of the issue with this guy. So smooth. Probably said this to Brittany Farrar too: “In the past month, ever since I told you I love you, when I think about that wedding day, when I think about getting on a knee, it’s with you.” Robby Hayes would not be happy to see this. He was confident that he and JoJo would end up together, even though he and Hope Higginbotham broke up about 45 seconds before this season. We kid … and yet not. Rumors of Robby Hayes cheating would be a huge story this season if Jordan Rodgers’ past weren’t even shadier. Yet Hayes, like Rodgers, says all the right stuff: “I want you to know that I’m not like the guys in your past. I’m not gonna say those three important words and then cop out early and walk away.” JoJo’s take? “There’s a way that he looks at me that makes me just know that what he’s saying is true, and I trust him, and I believe him.” Bottom line? Chase had no shot at moving on. First, we can confirm that new episodes of the cable smash hit will kick off on Sunday, October 23 at 9/8c. This exciting tidbit was dropped today at Comic-Con in San Diego. Next, we can offer fans a look at scenes from fall installments, as the network has also unveiled the first extended Walking Dead Season 7 preview. We need to first warn you that, no, the identity of the man or woman on the receiving end of Negan's baseball bat is not revealed in the video below. We still don't know which series regular will not be with us come October. (Although we have our theories!) The intriguing trailer opens with misty water-colored memories of all the characters (and we mean ALL the character) who might be coming back just long enough to say a violent farewell. We also get a glimpse one of the new settings to come this year, along with a character from the graphic novel series who is making his long-anticipated debut. Oh, yes, you can watch here for your first look of Ezekiel (played by newcomer Khary Payton), the ma in charge of a never-before-seen community of survivors known as The Kingdom. Let's just say he has a pet tiger. He also appears to have the kind of resources that Rick may need to defeat Negan once and for all. (Assuming Rick survives, that is, but come on.
