Former Scandal star Columbus Short has some giant cojones. It might get him in serious trouble with the law, but no one can take that away from him. Despite being fired from the show earlier this year because of his legal troubles, the actor is throwing a party this evening to celebrate the show’s return! Short will be at an Atlanta club to watch Scandal Season 4 Episode 1 , and in the interest of cross-promoting his many talents, drop his new single! Yes, the self-titled album Columbus Short will be available for purchase soon, and the title of its debut single – you can’t make this stuff up – is “Gladiator.” As his soon-to-be-officially-killed-off character Harrison often says, he is not a lawyer, he is a Gladiator. Well, he was until tonight’s all-new episode. Who wants to watch TV online when you could see it unfold right along with Columbus, toasting to the star as he witnesses his alter ego’s death. It’s poetic. Harrison was last seen with gun pointed to his head and a gunshot ringing out as the screen faded to black, which is typically a pretty bad sign. The 32-year-old Short, who had already been in trouble with the police prior to that scene, was arrested for domestic violence just a few days later. He was axed from the show shortly thereafter, removing any chance that the gunshot was just vintage misdirection from creator Shonda Rhimes. Speaking of Rhimes, Columbus and Shonda are tight , TMZ reports, and Short doesn’t blame her for his departure, so he still wants her to succeed. That’s why he’s supporting the show at the club tonight, which at least makes some sense … though it’s still a pretty ballsy move by any measure. Particularly with the current, intense media focus on domestic violence, Short drawing attention to himself in such a way is sure to raise eyebrows. Scandal Cast Through the Years 1. On The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 2, Danny’s mother made an appearance in New York, and she didn’t exactly start off on the wrong foot with Mindy, but … She thought Mindy was Danny’s cleaning woman, a fact that he realized but kept to himself and didn’t correct her, then only informed Mindy of after she left. Watch The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 2 Online While the season premiere established that they aren’t just a flash in the romantic pan, The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 2 threw the duo a new obstacle. Danny’s mother doesn’t like any girlfriends, he says, hence the hesitation for introducing her as such. Mindy is not happy about this, but she’s also resolute: She’ll win Annette Castellano’s approval, and she’ll do it her way! Mindy has a foolproof plan that she uses to get all moms to like her, which you’d have to be a fool to believe were actually true, but that’s our girl for you. After Danny formally introduces Mindy to Annette, played by the amazing Cheers veteran Rhea Perlman, the stage is set for an epic family brunch. When Mindy shows up to meet Danny, his brother, and her friend, Annette is not having any of Mindy’s efforts, and makes it pretty clear she’s not a fan. She stands up for Danny, though, after Annette doesn’t like Danny’s birthday gift, which was pretty tight – a new oven – and that breaks the ice at least. Mindy and Annette have a heart to heart about Danny, at which point she wins over her maybe someday mother-in-law, who also apologizes to Danny. As for that new oven? They use it to enjoy a nice meal together. Meanwhile, when the always-helpful Peter offers romantic advice, you know the B-story is a winner, and this rule was certainly true last night’s case. Morgan, who’s having some issues with Tamra, laments the fact that he must get rid of his 40 (yes, forty) dogs because of Tamra’s allergy issues. Peter isn’t buying this, and holds a dog fair in at the practice to do some clandestine investigating and out Tamra for lying … which blew up in his face. Or more specifically hers, which had a dog shoved in it. Tamra, of course, actually is allergic to Morgan’s furry brood and had to go to the ER after this. Good thing there were doctors on hand, at least? Maybe? With Teen Mom 2 Season 5 drawing to a close in the coming weeks, speculation has already started swirling around a potential Teen Mom 2 Season 6. MTV is notoriously mum on these things. It took more than a year’s time for Teen Mom 2 Season 5 to make it to air after Season 4 came to an end. Meanwhile, the original Teen Mom will have been off the air for 2-3 years (!) by the time it returns sans Farrah Abraham in 2015. If that really happens. Any word on Season 6 may be a long time coming, in other words, but the success of Season 5 might lead to a relative rush job from the network. Last night’s Teen Mom 2 Season 5 Episode 23 proved once again that the baby mama drama is only getting more layered and interesting over time. We’re not even kidding. The co-parenting struggles, custody battles and new members of the Teen Mom family coming into the world make for great TV. Does the reality show still resonate with impressionable youths? Maybe, maybe not, since Jenelle Evans , Kailyn Lowry, Chelsea Houska and Leah Messer aren’t even teens anymore, as they were on 16 & Pregnant . At the same time, it’s become a compelling drama as the fab four have come of age, and it’s undeniably true that life hasn’t become any more of a walk in the park. Through it all, these girls – women, believe it or not at this point – are fighting to beat the odds and finish school (Kailyn Lowry and Chelsea Houska). That, or they’re welcoming new children (Jenelle Evans and Leah Messer ), while struggling to make it work with their exes (Leah, Kailyn and Chelsea). The celebrity factor doesn’t hurt, either, from a PR standpoint. There’s no shortage of coverage given the stars’ quasi-famous status, especially thanks to their own Twitter and Instagram feeds (Jenelle especially). It’s free publicity in an era of tight budgets. What’s not to love? MTV has to renew it, right? It has to know that if fans continue to watch TV online , this is a show that could continue to find its niche and even grow its audience.
