The odds were very much in the favor of Catching Fire this weekend, as the well-reviewed Hunger Games sequel earned $161.1 million over the pre-Thanksgiving weekend. That’s a November box office record. The Jennifer Lawrence -anchored blockbuster beat the $152.5 million opening of its predecessor and out-earned the previous November champion, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, by about $20 million. Forget November, though. Only three films have EVER opened with better number than Catching Fire. They are:The Avengers ($207.4 million), Iron Man 3 ($174.1 million) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($169.2 million). If current estimates hold, Catching Fire will bring down The Dark Knight Rises as the largest 2-D opening of all-time. And it deserves it, folks. What a terrific movie. Cyrus posted a handful of selfless to Twitter today, two of which included her adorable dogs. She captioned one image “perfect start to a perfect day” and added of another, in reference to a pooch: “I love him soooo f–king much I can’t stand it.” It’s unclear just how Miley celebrated her milestone, but fans dropped off balloons and flowers in front of her home in honor of the occasion. Unfortunately, the weekend got off to a very rough start for the birthday gal, as her home was burglarized Friday afternoon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The singer made her late pitch to be included in this movie last night by posting a series of nearly naked selfies on Instagram. She teased them with a shot of stiletto-heeled boots and a pair of handcuffs and asked followers: “U ready?” But, really, when someone takes close-ups of herself in just electrical tape and a studded leather harness, can anyone truly be ready? “Officer Minaj. Who wants to get cuffed?” Minaj asked as a caption to another image, as we can only imagine millions of men around the globe aggressively nodding in approval. Ellen DeGeneres actually channeled Nicki for Halloween herself this year. But if the talk show host wants to do the same in 2014, the bar has been raised. Or lowered, depending on how you look at it. Forget Snickers or Mars Bars this Halloween. Tamar Braxton says there’s something aside from candy some folks need to take during this holiday season: a chill pill. The singer appeared on VH1’s The Big Morning Buzz yesterday and was asked about the controversy surrounding Julianne Hough’s Halloween costume . Was Tamar, as an African-American, offended by the dancer donning blackface in order to resemble a character from the show Orange is the New Black? Julianne Hough Blackface Please, Braxton said! Comparing Hough’s appearance to more of a “spray tan” than blackface, Tamar said critics need to calm the heck down. “I think people are on team too much right now, cause it’s Halloween, and you should go dressed as you want to,” she said. “Would you be offended if I wore a conehead and painted myself white? I mean, it’s not like you are trying to be racist or offensive or anything like that.” This is the opposite view from that of Wendy Williams, who called Hough out this week for being ignorant and somehow even brought her Mormonism into it . “You’re drunk by the time you figure out who people are,” Braxton said of Halloween. “It’s not that serious. And what she looks like is definitely not offensive to me. Chris Brown will spend up to three months in treatment for his anger issues as he looks to get a handle on his temper, according to a new report. There has been no firm decision on a precise duration of time Brown will stay in rehab (he’s at a Malibu, Calif., location) but three months is a good bet. Everyone in Brown’s camp, including Chris, is open to that length of time . Sounds like it’s serious, too, even if it is largely a play to avoid prison. “The rehab facility has been told to take him [Brown] apart and put him back together,” a source close to the constantly embattled singer tells TMZ. Chris Brown checked into rehab last night, specifically to seek treatment for his anger problem, which manifested itself Sunday morning when he was arrested. He allegedly punched a guy in the face for photobombing him and/or trying to get on his tour bus, and spent a day and a half in a jail cell as a result. The 24-year-old was eventually cut loose and the charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. He is due back in court Monday, November 25. For this particular fight, he will not be given jail time. But even a lesser conviction or merely a criminal charge could trigger a violation of his probation. Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, knows it’s likely that a judge will revoke Brown’s probation for beating Rihanna , which could put him behind bars. It’s undoubtedly strategic, but the rehab move is an act of good faith, showing Brown is dealing with his problems, and hopefully he takes it seriously. In the aftermath of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s engagement, Khloe Kardashian Tweeted that she was crying tears of joy over the good news. But the latest issue of Life & Style claims this is only partially accurate: Yes, Khloe was crying over the development… though not because she was happy! In light of Khloe’s ongoing issues with husband Lamar Odom , an anonymous insider (who was totally not invented by the magazine) says Kim’s engagement is “too much to bear” for her sibling, who’s “gone through the most traumatic year of her life as her marriage has crumbled.” Is Khloe happy for Kim? Sure. But she also can’t help but be jealous, considering the extreme lengths Kanye went to in order to ensure a perfect proposal. “She said it reminded her of how romantic Lamar was in the early days of their relationship,” the tabloid source claims. Friends have allegedly passed along Khloe’s reaction to Kim’s big news and it’s created tension between the family members, the tabloid continues, writing that Kim “snapped that [Khloe] should get over” any jealousy issues. It’s been over a year since Kristen Stewart was caught cheating on Robert Pattinson . But while the press continues to follow the every move of these young superstars, one person involved in the sordid mess has been forgotten about… until now. Liberty Ross is featured in the December issue of Vanity Fair, and she’s opening up in detail about the affair between her husband and Stewart for the first time. “It was horrible,” Ross tells the magazine. “It was really the worst, really the worst.” In July of 2012, Rupert Sanders was snapped kissing Stewart , a photo that took the Internet by storm and led to Kristen actually admitting that she strayed from her boyfriend. She and Robert tried to reconcile, Rupert and Liberty tried to do the same, but neither relationship worked out in the end. Sanders and Ross are now divorced. “I have no words to describe what we went through,” Liberty says. “But I think, for me, something always has to completely die for there to be a rebirth. And, for me, I feel like I’m going through a rebirth.” The day after images of his fling went public, Sanders issued a public apology to his wife of 11 years, along with their two children. “I love them with all my heart,” he said at the time. “I am praying that we can get through this together.” However, Ross tells Vanity Fair that she knew all along she could never really give her husband another shot. “I’m not a quitter,” she says. “I’ve done everything I could to be the perfect wife and mother and really support my husban. But I just didn’t have any more to give, you know?” Ross also says she didn’t have the perfect marriage (“I had times when I felt very lonely, very disconnected from Rupert. We’d lost our real connection.”) even prior to the affair, but she’s also been able to forgive Sanders and take a step back from it all. “We were together for 16 years, and that in itself is really beautiful,” she says. “And we’ve created two exceptional lives together.” It’s true: the former spouses are parents to daughter Skyla, 7, and son Tennyson, 5.
