Josh Krajcik: Attacking Souls, Singing Beautiful Prayers

Josh Krajcik brought Paula Abdul to tears on The X Factor last night. Granted, this is about as difficult as getting Lindsay Lohan to have a drink. But still. The heartfelt crooner belted out a couple of songs on the semifinals, once again proving his versatility via a piano-based version of “Hallelujah” and a livelier version of “Come Together.” The former prompted Abdul to tell Josh he “attacks our souls,” while the latter caused Nicole Scherzinger to compare the contestant to a “beautiful prayer.” It’s safe to say they’re big fans. Are you? Watch Krajcik in double action now. Josh Krajcik – Hallelujah Josh Krajcik – Come Together

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Ricki Lake Reclaims The Top

Rob Kardashian also impresses the judges. By Kelley L. Carter Ricki Lake and Derek Hough Photo: ABC The talk-show queen has regained her crown! Ricki Lake turned in a stellar performance during Monday night’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Lake impressed with her samba, and she and her partner Derek Hough brought the audience — and the picky judges — to their feet during the semifinals telecast of the show. Ricki Lake and Derek Hough Lake earned a perfect score during the first round from the judges; hard-to-please head judge Len Goodman even cheered her on, saying, “Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!” She later came back to dance the tango, which earned her another pair of perfect 10s and a nine from Carrie Ann Inaba. J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff After coming off last week’s impressive dances — he earned back-to-back perfect 30s — the war hero failed to impress the judges this week. He hurt himself earlier at dance rehearsals — he had a twisted ankle — and his paso doble earned a mere 23 points. His second dance was the tango; the judges gave him 27/30 for it. Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke The reality-TV star took on the samba for his first-round dance, and the judges liked what they saw. “Rob, it was amazing,” Inaba told him. He earned 28 out of 30 for that dance. For his second-round dance, he danced the tango, which earned him 27 points. Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy The Olympian failed to channel her sexy the way the judges have been chiding her to do all season long. Her first-round performance was the paso doble, and the judges gave her a paltry 21/30, saying it was too aggressive. Her second dance was a tango, and they said she improved, but not by much. She earned 24/30. Who had your favorite dance this week. Let us know in the comments!

Paula Abdul Returns To TV With ‘Got To Dance’

The former ‘American Idol’ judge will be lead judge on CBS dance show. By Gil Kaufman Paula Abdul Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Paula Abdul said she’d be back in the judge’s chair. Well, a judge’s chair, anyway. A year after walking away from “American Idol,” the former Laker Girl and choreographer to the stars will be returning to TV on the new reality dance show “Got to Dance.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, Abdul will be the lead judge, executive producer, creative partner, mentor and coach on the CBS show that is based on an already popular British dance competition. The network gave a green light to the show in March, and Abdul was long rumored to be one of the top choices for lead judge, in addition to having a number of behind-the-scenes and on-air responsibilities on the show. The program is likely to be a mid-season replacement, which could mean that Abdul will go head-to-head with “Idol” in 2011, which will be in its first season without Abdul former on-air sparring partner Simon Cowell. Cowell is departing after Wednesday’s season-nine finale to concentrate on the 2011 launch of the American version of his hit British reality singing show, “The X Factor.” Abdul was also long rumored to be in the running to join “X Factor,” but appears to have opted instead to headline her own program, which is being billed as broadcast TV’s first all-ages, all-genre dance series, presenting everything from “ballroom to breakdance, bhangra to ballet and tap to tango.” The acts will compete before a panel of judges, and viewers will vote for their favorites during the semifinals and finals. Abdul will be wading into a fiercely competitive market, with ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” already a ratings juggernaut, followed by the popular “So You Think You Can Dance” on her old network, Fox. There are also dancers on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” and a variety of other shows on basic cable networks, including two upcoming CW shows called “One Mass Dance” (about flash-mob-style routines) and “Shed to Wed” (a pre-wedding weight-loss dance-off). Chad Ochocinco 86’d From Dancing with the Stars

Chad Ochocinco’s run on Dancing with the Stars came to an end Tuesday. The Cincinnati Bengals standout and partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated on the penultimate week of competition, with Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy joining them in the bottom two, but advancing to next Monday’s finals. Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough and Evan Lysacek Trebunskaya await Erin and Maks to square off for the Mirror Ball title. Chad’s sad to go, but not bitter. “This was awesome,” he said. “I enjoyed the journey. I got some great criticism. I met awesome people, including the beautiful Cheryl Burke. I already won.” While Ochocinco won high praise and admirable scores (although still the lowest of the night) Monday, it wasn’t enough to put him through to the final round. As Len Goodman stated Monday, Ochocinco was the only remaining contestant with no dance training, so the fact that he got to the semifinals is impressive. As for his relationship with Cheryl? Brooke Burke tried to ask Ochocinco about their “special” relationship. “Excuse me, say what?” jokingly replied Ochocinco. “We will remain friends,” he said, brushing off the romance rumors. Oh well. American Idol Makes First Four Cuts

Sheryl Crow once crooned that “the first cut is the deepest.” For American Idol last night, the first four cuts were the most erroneous. Let’s analyze each below: Joe Munoz over Tim Urban?!? The latter might be cute, but did you see the look of shock on his face after Ryan told Tim he was safe? Did viewers really do Urban a favor by keeping him around and ensuring his weak vocal skills will be torn apart again and again until America comes to its senses? Tyler Grady over Jermaine Sellers?!? We weren’t fans of Grady’s 1970s-inspired gimmick, either. But he made a great point (which Simon acknowledged, if you read his lips) about the judges selecting him for the semifinals… but then jumping all over him for the same schtick that got him there. It would have been nice to have seen if Tyler had more to offer going forward, especially compared to the over-emotional nonsense that Sellers through our way this week. Janell Wheeler over Haeley Vaughn?!? Yes, Wheeler chose the wrong song. She’s not a rocker. But Vaughn comes across like some sort of frightening, dressed-up doll. She just looks awkward on stage and her rendition of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” wasn’t strong. Ashley Rodriguez over Lacey Brown?!? Brown was really bad and Ashley is really good looking. Come on, voters! At least we got to see Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen perform. And at least we can still look forward to Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami and others next week. But this was a poor start for the viewing public. Did you agree with who was sent home? As you ponder that question, check out a few photos below from the first results show of season nine:

Indeed, Rycroft will perform on tomorrow night’s results show. Before we get there, though, Donny Osmond, Joanna Krupa, Kelly Osbourne and Mya need to make impressions on the judges tonight.
