Pia Toscano and Mark Ballas: New Couple Alert!

In fun celebrity couple news bringing the worlds of American Idol and Dancing With the Stars together, Pia Toscano and Mark Ballas are dating. Pia and Mark became acquainted while shooting their respective shows and went on their first date Friday. According to reports, it was a 10! Maybe an awesome date isn’t enough to soften the blow of her stunning elimination from American Idol this week, but it can’t hurt, right? Pia was the instigator of the romance with Mark Ballas, sources say, but there was a surprise matchmaker involved who played a role in setting them up : WWE great and current DWTS contestant Chris Jericho! Pia and Mark both shoot American Idol and Dancing With the Stars on the same CBS Television City lot in L.A., and it turns out Pia is pretty resourceful. She has a friend who is friends with Jericho, so Pia gave her friend a piece of paper with her number on it, who then passed it to Chris to give to Mark. Sounds so high school, but apparently it worked out. Peeps connected with both Mark Ballas and Pia Toscano say they really hit it off. Way to go guys! [Photos: Fox, ABC]

New Jersey Lawmaker Calls For Anti-Snooki Legislation

Effing Snooki. That’s pretty much the attitude taken by a New Jersey State Senator who is not pleased about a fee given to the Jersey Shore star (a.k.a. Nicole Polizzi) to speak at Rutgers. So not pleased, he’s trying to pass a law to prevent an encore. State Sen. Joe Kyrillos doesn’t think Snooki is worth the $32,000 speaking fee she earned to dish on GTL at the state-funded school. His remedy? He wants students attending public colleges to have the right to opt in or opt out of funding entertainment such as this by instituting mandatory activity fees. Last week, effing Snooki was paid $2,000 more than the $30,000 Rutgers will play Nobel-winning writer Toni Morrison to deliver the commencement address. The Republican lawmaker says he’s certain there were many Rutgers students who were uninterested at best or “flat out outraged” at worst by Snooki’s fee. What do you think about having to pay taxes for your next hairdo? There are tax proposals in this current Georgia Legislative sessions that could require you pay taxes to hair stylists, barbers, nail technicians and to pay taxes for food. We all know that there is a recession, but some lawmakers are frowning on actions which could put a burden on  low-income and middle-income families while  at the same time, give big tax breaks to major corporations. Representative Roger Bruce, Senator Donzella James and Senator Horacena Tate are also concerned that changes to the Hope scholarship will hurt people who need the financial help the most.  They want to tell you more about this legislative session at a town hall meeting, Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm.
