The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 6 premiere featured plenty of drama and a handful of new Housewives, yet somehow brought in some of the most dismal audience numbers in the series’ history. Bravo producers had hoped the drama surrounding the Teresa Giudice court case, and the addition of several new cast members would draw in viewers who had abandoned the show in past seasons. But not even the return of Dina Manzo proved sufficient to boost RHONJ’s ailing ratings. The season 6 premiere turned in just over 2 million viewers – about the same as when the series premiered in 2009 and all of the ladies were unknowns. Worse, RHONJ’s numbers in the key 18-49 year old demographic were lower than they’ve ever been. “Bravo was worried about ‘The Teresa Troubles,'” says a production insider. “It could have given them huge ratings or hurt them. In the end, it obviously hurt them.” The baffling part is that the episode couldn’t have been more chock-full of drama. In addition to the threat of prison hanging over Joe and Teresa’s heads, there was a heart-wrenching scene in which 12-year-old Gia Giudice reveals that she’s aware of her parents struggles and even a tribute to Frank Giudice – Joe’s father who died suddenly just last month . Drake Bell has set his sights once again on Justin Bieber. The singer, who recently ridiculed Bieber’s latest run-in with the law and once pushed to have Bieber deported to Canada , went off on the artist in a new interview with Yahoo Music. Bell referred to Justin as “irresponsible” for the way he encourages hate from his followers, saying Beliebers are hateful and violent. Earlier in this season of Game of Thrones , a controversial scene that appeared to feature non-consensual sex between a brother and sister ignited a firestorm of online outrage and debate. The man responsible for the books upon which the series is based, George RR Martin, also responded to the controversial scene , claiming that while in his novel the sex is clearly consensual, he supports the decision of the show’s writers to portray it differently. Now Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who portrays Jaime Lannister in the series and served as the aggressor in the much-discussed scene has expressed his views to GQ, and some are taking issue with what they feel are insensitive comments made by the actor: “I think calling it ‘rape’ is like kind of forgetting who these characters are and what came before,” says Coster-Waldau. “Cersei didn’t want to have sex there, but she was…I mean they were both so tormented emotionally.” “This is a one-armed man,” Coster-Waldau adds. “She’s wearing lots of clothes…I don’t think it would be possible if she didn’t play along in some way.” Yeesh…we get his point that there were a lot of complex emotions wrapped up in that scene, but we can certainly see why Coster-Waldau claiming that it “wasn’t rape” in the same breath that he admits Cersei “didn’t want to have sex” has rubbed some people the wrong way. Columbus Short may be off Scandal. But he isn’t done creating scandals of his own. Mere days after Short confirmed his departure from the aforementioned ABC hit, the actor’s estranged wife (Tanee) alleges he broke into the couple’s home and totally ransacked the residence. In new court documents filed this week, Tanee claims Short violated his restraining order over Easter weekend when he broke a door of its hinges inside her house, tore off her bed sheets and left many lights on. Short’s wife now says she is afraid for her life and for the life of her daughter. Earlier in April, Tanee accused Short of threatening her life with a knife. She obtained a restraining order as a result, but the actor believes it doesn’t apply to their home because his name is on the lease. Short was also recently arrested on battery charges stemming from his role in a bar brawl on March 15. Short starred on Scandal since the opening episode, portraying a fixer named Harrison Wright. But his character was left in peril on the Scandal Season 3 premiere. We don’t think he’ll be making it out alive.
A new report claims that Jenelle Evans, whose son Kaiser is due to arrive in June, is having second thoughts about raising him and may put him up for adoption. Evans, 22, and oft-maligned baby-daddy-to-be Nathan Griffith, 26, are rumored to be meeting with adoption agencies about giving up their unborn son. Is there anything to this gossip, though? Not according to Jenelle Evans ‘ camp. “Yeah that [report] is completely false,” says a source close to the Teen Mom 2 cast member, adding, “They have never fought about giving up Kaiser.” Jenelle and Nathan share a phone, the insider adds, and “have not had one argument since he has been out of jail. They honestly have been getting along just fine.” That would be a refreshing change.
