Taylor Lautner’s 10 Best MTV Quotes

Gear up for Lautner’s ‘MTV First’ interview Wednesday at 7:56 p.m. ET by looking back at a few choice lines he’s given us. By Eric Ditzian Taylor Lautner Photo: MTV News Taylor Lautner has changed a lot since we first met him in April 2008 on the Portland, Oregon, set of “Twilight.” He’s gone from a skinny 16-year-old who not everyone believed would be able to convincingly portray jacked-up werewolf Jacob Black to a 19-year-old heartthrob who elicits screams from fans every time he doffs his shirt and who is set to become the highest-paid teen in Hollywood . Not too bad, right? Yet as his body has transformed and his celebrity has exploded, Lautner has managed to stay the same person. That’s the unmistakable takeaway as we dive back into our archival interviews with the actor in the run-up to “MTV First: Taylor Lautner,” a 30-minute interview set for Wednesday on air and online. From back in ’08 up until this very day, Lautner has remained a funny, goofy, sometimes shy, always thankful kid. With those thoughts in mind, check out our 10 favorite Lautner quotes from MTV News interviews and tell us if you can possibly disagree: 10. “I think they might start crying.” — On the reaction to fans seeing him shirtless in “New Moon” 9. “It is a little awkward for me to watch myself and, actually, when we’re filming those scenes.” — On shooting those shirtless scenes 8. “One second I’ll be listening to country, and then the next I’ll be listening to techno and then R&B. It’s ridiculous. I am all over the place with my music.” — On his musical tastes 7. “It’s like the worst superhero power, possibly, to get, and how you’re going to take that and use it for good and how you’re going to be creative with that.” — On the abilities of Stretch Armstrong , a character he signed on to play last year 6. “It’s my favorite, because it’s the most guy-friendly by far. It’s dangerous. There’s a lot of action. The romance is still there, but the action level is stepped up way more.” — On why “Eclipse” is his favorite “Twilight” book 5. “The quote I love the most is Jacob’s quote: ‘Does my half being naked bother you?’ That quote just cracks me up. Because, you know, that’s when he’s shirtless, not wearing a top.” — On his favorite line in a “Twilight” book 4. “It gets kind of itchy.” — On his “Twilight” wig 3. “It caught me by surprise when I read the book. I think I originally heard it happened through somebody who had already read it — and I didn’t believe it. Then I read the book, and I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ ” — On his initial reaction to the book release of “Breaking Dawn” 2. “There’s a scene where I’m carrying [Kristen Stewart], and it’s also, like, four pages of dialogue. So I’m carrying her, and we’re walking through the woods, and I’m talking to her, and it’s a pretty intense talk. We actually had plans, a rig that was basically going to carry her, and I was just going to pretend that I was carrying her. We got there on the day, and the rig didn’t look very natural. They were like, ‘What are we going to do?’ and I’m like, ‘I’ll just carry her. She’s like, what, 110 pounds? It’s no big deal!’ ” — On filming an “Eclipse” scene with his co-star 1. “To growl. I’m asked that by a lot by fans, and I don’t like doing that. So, fans, please don’t ask me that. Wait for the movie.” — On his least-favorite question What’s your favorite Taylor Lautner MTV quote? ‘American Idol’ In 60 Seconds: Stop The Clock For Pia

Is it America’s fault Pia Toscano got the boot, or is it the judges’? By Jim Cantiello Pia Toscano on “American Idol” Photo: FOX Jim Cantiello’s “American Idol” in 60 Seconds recaps have been an institution at MTV News since Sanjaya’s Reign of Terror. But sometimes, the lightning-quick pace moves by so fast, you occasionally miss a joke, comment or sight gag. So, as a courtesy to our loyal watchers, we’re publishing the full script of Jim’s latest recap. This week, the top nine (and Scotty’s groupies) tackled rock and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artists! [ Clip of Steven Tyler singing James Brown. And high kicking. For no reason. ] Wait, is Steven competing now? Can we vote him off? Will.i.am mentored the top nine while speaking in funny voices and refusing to make eye contact with them. [ Will.i.am exclaims, “Sammy!” ] Pia listened to the judges and finally did a fast song, Casey listened to the judges and finally did a bass song, and Jacob listened to his conscience and stopped a Gaye song. (Marvin Gaye, that is.) [ Clip of Jacob: “If I’m in the bottom three, it will be because America won’t be ready to look at themselves in the mirror.” ] [ Jim has a mirror at his desk. ] But Jacob, I am looking in the mirror. And my reflection’s telling me that your performance was terrible. But wait, can we go back to Pia and discuss that outfit? [ Clip of Michael Kors from old-school “Project Runway” saying, “The crotch on those pants is insane!!” ] Thank you, Michael Kors. On the results show it was headache [ shot of Russell Brand ], nightmare [ shot of Gwen Stefani giving fashion advice ], nausea [ shot of Harry Levin and his TMZ crew ], and then a sleazy rocker came back to relive his glory days when really everyone just wanted him to button up his shirt. [ Shots of Iggy Pop performing, but Jim cuts off the editor. ] Oh, no, no, no. I liked Iggy Pop. I was talking about Constantine. [ Clip of Constantine Maroulis: “Am i gonna get judged here?” ] Oh, you’re getting judged. And results!! Goodbye, Stefan-OH WAIT! Pia’s going home?! Stop the clock! [ Clip of a teary J.Lo: “I have no idea what just happened here. ] I’ll tell you what just happened here. You and your pals told Pia that she was perfect every week, when in actuality, she had the personality of wallpaper. But if you had done your job and given her notes to improve her stage presence three weeks ago, chances are Pia would have worked on that. She does, after all, strike me as a perfectionist. Maybe then, America would have fallen in love with her as much as they were in love with her voice. Steven, do you have anything to say for yourself? [ Clip of Steven Tyler: “A mistake is a mistake, but a lack of passion is unforgiveable.” ] This coming from the man who pretended to be asleep Wednesday night? Oh, hold my earrings. Randy Jackson, final thoughts? [ Clip of Randy: “I’m mad, and I don’t get upset!” ] Oh, you never get angry, do you? Well, you also don’t pay attention. Because you, of all people, should know that the cray-crays who vote a zillion times for their favorite contestant are mostly girls. And who have the girls been voting for, especially in the last three seasons? Boys! If only there was a way for you to protect the female talent, and saved that stupid judges’ save for someone with, you know, a vagina! Just sayin’! Hashtag it! And another thing, Randy Jackson. If you’re going to sit there and tell everybody that they’re amazing and beautiful and perfect and awesome, you have no right to act shocked or angry when the bottom three is announced. Don’t think I didn’t notice when you got all huffy once Haley was safe, even though the night before you said the old brilliant Haley was “back-ack-ack-ack-ack.” It is you three who need to look in a mirror. Boom fiyah! OK, you can start the clock again. [ The clock continues. ] Does anybody know when “The Voice” premieres? [ Ding! ] Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Nate Dogg To Be Mourned At Public Wake Today

The event will precede the ‘Regulate’ singer’s funeral service, which is expected to be held on Saturday. By Jayson Rodriguez Nate Dogg Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images Nate Dogg is set to be celebrated and honored on Friday (March 25) in his hometown of Long Beach, California. The hip-hop singer unexpectedly passed away earlier this month after suffering multiple health setbacks in the past several years stemming from separate strokes. His life will be recognized at a public viewing to be held at the Queen Mary hotel. His family and close friends, in addition to fans, are expected to attend the event, which is taking place a day before the singer’s funeral is expected to be held. Last week, Warren G., who teamed with Nate Dogg for the pair’s breakout hit, “Regulate,” spoke about his friend’s death to MTV News while attending a tribute show at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. “I was out on the Sweat Tour with Snoop, and we had got the word from his family on what was going on, and it was just a crushing blow for us,” he said. “Just, from going to see him and lifting his spirits up when he was in therapy, and stuff like that, it’s just crazy for that to happen. And I still don’t believe it, you know what I’m saying?” Warren added, “It kind of hurts me when I look at this shirt [the SXSW tribute show’s organizers sold Nate Dogg T-shirts, with proceeds going to the late singer’s family], it’s like, ‘Damn, that’s my homeboy on this shirt.’ And I’m hurting, and you know, a lot of people are showing tons of support for his family, for his homeboys, and we really and truly appreciate that. It’s real love.” Stick with MTV News throughout the weekend for coverage of Nate Dogg’s memorial services. Chris Brown Still on For Dancing With the Stars

ABC appears willing to forgive and forget when it comes to Chris Brown. Despite Brown’s meltdown on Good Morning America this week, the network said it will not be filing a criminal complaint against the singer, who is still set to perform on the popular Dancing With the Stars next Tuesday night. Both are huge breaks for a guy whose career needs all he can get. Should DWTS pull the plug on this dude? Although he kept it together on-air, Brown stormed off the GMA set after anchor Robin Roberts asked him questions about his 2009 assault against Rihanna. Despite okaying this beforehand, he then reportedly retreated to his dressing room where he broke a window with a chair, tore his shirt off and peaced out. While he escaped without any legal or direct career ramifications, some fans and rival network execs are not happy with ABC’s decision to let him do DWTS . “This sort of behavior is not acceptable from anyone no matter how talented or famous they might be,” a well-placed network executive told PopEater. ” Dancing With the Stars is one of the biggest shows on TV, and if they allow him to promote his music on it, he should definitely be asked to apologize.” Some fans are even contacting ABC directly via email to thwart his performance, but for now, it looks like he’ll perform on the results show as planned. Whether he does or not, this can’t be the press Chris hoped for when his new album, F.A.M.E. , dropped this week. Guy really needs to pull it together. As we said earlier, if Chris really wants to turn things around, he should look no further for inspiration than another fallen, recovering star: Michael Vick .

Nate Dogg’s Death Was ‘A Crushing Blow,’ Warren G Says

‘I’m hurting,’ Warren tells MTV News after raucous SXSW tribute to late friend. By James Montgomery Kurupt and Warren G Photo: MTV News On Saturday night at South by Southwest, Warren G , Daz, Kurupt and Snoop Dogg paid homage to their late friend Nate Dogg with a raucous tribute show that celebrated the music of a man who lived every day to the fullest. And while the mood onstage was definitely joyous — the quartet performed many of the songs Nate leant his voice to, in a poignant tribute to his talents — backstage at Austin’s Venue 222, things were much more muted. In fact, when Warren G spoke to MTV News about his late cohort, he didn’t hide the fact that he (and everyone who ever knew Nate Dogg) was still hurting inside. In fact, starting with the moment he heard the news of Nate’s passing, things have been far from normal. “I was out on the Sweat Tour with Snoop, and we had got the word from his family on what was going on, and it was just a crushing blow for us,” Warren said. “Just, from going to see him and lifting his spirits up when he was in therapy, and stuff like that, it’s just crazy for that to happen. And I still don’t believe it, you know what I’m saying? “It kind of hurts me when I look at this shirt [the organizers of the SXSW tribute show sold Nate Dogg T-shirts, with proceeds going to the late singer’s family], it’s like, ‘Damn, that’s my homeboy on this shirt,’ ” he continued. “And I’m hurting, and you know, a lot of people are showing tons of support for his family, for his homeboys, and we really and truly appreciate that. It’s real love.” And though they took the stage that night with a heavy heart, Warren and his cohorts also did it knowing that their friend was with them in spirit, and that by honoring his music, they were also honoring a man they all knew and loved. “It means a lot, you know, because this is something that’s being done for a person that we really love. It’s deeper than music, that’s a brother to us, to me and Kurupt and Snoop and Daz … it’s really deeper than that,” he said. “I mean, like, I’m not a psychic or a genie or a gypsy or anything, but I know deep down in my heart he’s around us, he’s with us … he’s with us in spirit. Everything we do, he’s a part of it.” Related Photos 2011 SXSW Music Festival Nate Dogg: A Life In Photos Related Artists Nate Dogg Warren G
