Nicki Minaj Pulls Double Duty For BET’s ‘Rip The Runway’

MC hosts and performs on show, which airs March 15. By Jayson Rodriguez NEW YORK — With Lil Wayne scheduled to turn himself in to begin his one-year prison sentence on Tuesday, the rapper’s Young Money crew will undoubtedly move into the spotlight as they look to keep their boss’ brand burning hot. Drake is the heir apparent, but YM’s lady of rhyme, Nicki Minaj , has proven she’s just as capable of being a Weezy ambassador. On Saturday night, the female MC entertainingly pulled double duty hosting BET’s “Rip the Runway” with actor Pooch Hall and performing alongside Ludacris . “Pooch, you haven’t even complimented me on my shoes yet,” Nicki said, teasing her co-host as the pair introduced the show, set to air March 15 on BET and Centric. “The Game” actor quickly made amends, christening his counterpart “Sexy Minaj.” She certainly earned the praise: Her hot-pink minidress was hugging her curves like a long-lost relative. The dress was one of many outfit changes for Minaj. Ludacris got the crowd off their feet for the first of many times throughout the night when he kicked things off with his latest single, “My Chick Bad.” “My chick bad, tell me if you seen her,” Luda rapped. “She always bring the racket like Venus and Serena.” Minaj stormed onto the stage for the third verse, much to the delight of her fans — there were plenty of Barbiez on-board — in a snake-print bodysuit and pink wig. “Trash talk to them then I put them in a Hefty,” she rhymed. “Running down the court, I’m dunking on them Lisa Leslie.” Along with the “Rip the Runway” performances, new designers’ spring and summer lines were presented. BET’s “106 & Park” co-host Rocsi Diaz, Sean John model Miguel Perdomo and artist Amanda Diva were among those strutting down the catwalk. Upstart MC B.o.B. a.k.a. Bobby Ray performed his first single, “Nothin’ on You,” as the Tennille White Chicago line was showcased. Trina was partnered with Haute Couture during her performance. Newcomer Roscoe Dash and Soulja Boy Tell’em had the rowdiest performance of the night, hands down, with “All the Way Turnt Up.” The song was paired with sporty clothing line Protege and featured a model in high heels frantically dribbling a basketball to the beat of the horn-laden number. “We alll the waaaay turnt up,” Roscoe sang on the chorus as SB darted back and forth across the stage. Lilly Scott’s ‘Fixing A Hole’: The Story Behind The Cover

‘American Idol’ contestant makes a song by the world’s most famous band her own. By Larry Carroll Lilly Scott on ‘American Idol’ Tuesday Photo: Fox She’s not Eleanor Rigby, she’s not Maxwell with his silver hammer and she certainly isn’t Sgt. Pepper. But on tonight’s “American Idol,” final 24 contestant Lilly Scott took center stage with a unique spin on another classic song by the world’s greatest rock band and judges were unable to find any holes in her performance. Scott — or, as Ryan Seacrest describes her, “the pride of Denver” — covered “Fixing a Hole” by the Beatles, one of the lesser-known classics off their 1967 Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, a record largely considered to be among the greatest albums ever made. To many, stepping into the shoes of Lennon and McCartney would be a daunting task. But Scott took center stage with nothing but a guitar, green dress and Anna Faris-like haircut and made it her own. “That’s what we’re talking about!” Ellen DeGeneres praised her after the performance. “You have such a unique voice!” Kara DioGuardi agreed, saying, “You’re unbelievable. Everyone is gonna remember you tonight.” Even difficult Simon Cowell had a hard time finding fault, calling her moment in the spotlight among “the best we’ve had so far. You sang this song because it portrayed you as an artist.” Written by Paul McCartney, “Hole” was the fifth song on the Beatles’ groundbreaking concept album. Over the years, its use of words like “hole” and “fix” — and its psychedelic vibe — have led many to believe it is about heroin injection. Other theories include everything from it being about holes in the road to holes in the roof of the Scottish farmhouse McCartney owned at the time. The rock legend did admit in a 1967 that the lyric “See the people standing there/ Who disagree, and never win/ And wonder why they don’t get in my door” was a reference to the fans who hung around the front door of his home in those days. As for 20-year-old Scott from Littleton, Colorado, she auditioned in Denver after a period spent performing locally with a band called Varlet and time spent as a street musician. Citing her main influences as indie and classic rock, she began her path to “Idol” when she sang the national anthem at Mile High Stadium at only 5 years old. Lindsay Lohan’s Weird Fuckin Face of the Day

I don’t where she is or what she is doing, but I do know that her hot tits are being suffocated in this dress and would like to come out for air to distract us from her big swollen stupid lookin’ lips that make her face look it was either in a serious accident or some kind of burn victim. Chris Brown Releases Collaboration With Soulja Boy Tell’em On Mixtape

‘Bad’ makes its way onto the singer’s Valentine’s Day offering with DJ Drama, In My Zone. By Jayson Rodriguez Chris Brown Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Chris Brown ‘s much-discussed collaboration with Soulja Boy Tell’em was released over the weekend as a part of the singer’s Valentine’s Day mixtape effort with DJ Drama. The project, titled In My Zone, features a number of remakes, as Brown borrows notable songs such as Trey Songz’s “Say Aah” and “I Invented Sex” and Timbaland and Drake’s “Say Something.” The track with Soulja Boy, “Bad,” was initially slated for inclusion on Brown’s Graffiti album. He told MTV News about the track last November and described the number as “a nice little joint.” “Well, me and him, we been on tour together and we’re friends, so I was just like, ‘Yo, I gotta do a record with Soulja Boy,’ ” Brown explained of the tune, which was produced by Bangladesh (“A Milli,” “Diva”). “Because me and him are always gonna have, like, this kind of energy, just as far as kids, and with him, he does records that are, like, the easiest records ever. I’m not discrediting him, ’cause they’re big records, but he could talk about, ‘I got my shoes on, I got my hat on, but I’m fresh though,’ and it could be something funny. But it’s always something that can be catchy for kids, and I wanna do something that’s real cool for everybody.” “She looking at me, I’m looking at she, she’s bad as a mutha,” Brown sings over the staccato production. “She bad, she bad, she badder, hop up in my jag, my jag, my Jaguar,” the “Crank Dat” rapper spits. Soulja also spoke to MTV News last year about the track, saying if he and the “Crawl” star ever worked together the outcome would have to be phenomenal. “My approach to it was, if me and Chris Brown ever did a song together it got to be the best song ever,” he said. “When people hear it, it gotta be automatic, be in all the kids’ heads, all the girls definitely gotta love it, all the females gotta love it. That was my approach to it. I was just thinking, ‘What is the slickest lines I could say to a female to make them fall in love with this record?’ ” What do you think of Chris Brown and Soulja Boy Tell’em’s song “Bad”?
