We knew they were havin’ problems… but for real tho? According to the LA Times , Bethenny’s split from her husband after two years of marriage. Frankel, a “Real Housewives of New York City” alum, has announced her separation from Jason Hoppy, her husband of nearly three years, saying it brought her “great sadness.” “This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family,” Frankel said, according to People. “We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority. She called the situation “immensely painful” and “heartbreaking.” The coming split had been reported by InTouch last week, with an insider saying at the time, “They’ve had their exit plan in mind for months. It’s really just a matter of when they’ll file.” A friend said problems had been bubbling for a year. Late on Sunday, the “Bethenny Ever After” star thanked her fans via Twitter for their support, saying, “You give me so much love, and I am so grateful. It feels like your words could get someone through anything.” Hoppy and Frankel married in March 2010, with Frankel triumphantly tweeting at the time, “I’m finally a real housewife! On way to honeymoon. Best night of my life.” She was seven months pregnant with daughter Bryn Hoppy at the time, and the wedding was chronicled in “Bethenny Getting Married.” In “Ever After,” however, the couple were seen struggling, with Frankel telling People in July, that the second year of marriage “was not easy” and they’d “hit bottom” but come out the other side. “I think we have what it takes to make it work. I don’t have a backup plan. It’s not like shopping for shoes and getting a new pair. That’s not what it’s about,” she said then. This was Frankel’s second marriage. She and Peter Sussman were married briefly in 1996. We hope these two can work their issues out so they can still be peaceful around their baby girl Bryn. Images via WENN
The shooter killed his mother first before he ran rampant in the school. Via the Associated Press : Nancy Lanza’s body was found later at their home on Yoganda Street in Newtown – after the carnage at Sandy Hook Elementary School; after a quiet New England town was scarred forever by unthinkable tragedy; after a nation seemingly inured to violence found itself stunned by the slaughter of innocents. Nobody knows why 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed his mother, why he then took her guns to the school and murdered 20 children and six adults. But on Friday he drove his mother’s car through this 300-year-old town with its fine old churches and towering trees, and arrived at a school full of the season’s joy. Somehow, he got past a security door to a place where children should have been safe from harm. Theodore Varga and other fourth-grade teachers were meeting; the glow remained from the previous night’s fourth-grade concert. “It was a lovely day,” Varga said. “Everybody was joyful and cheerful. We were ending the week on a high note.” And then, suddenly and unfathomably, gunshots rang out. “I can’t even remember how many,” he said. The fourth-graders, the oldest kids in the school, were in specialty classes like gym and music. There was no lock on the meeting room door, so the teachers had to think about how to escape, knowing that their students were with other teachers. Someone turned the loudspeaker on, so everyone could hear what was happening in the office. “You could hear the hysteria that was going on,” Varga said. “Whoever did that saved a lot of people. Everyone in the school was listening to the terror that was transpiring.” Gathered in another room for a 9:30 meeting were principal Dawn Hochsprung and Diane Day, a school therapist, along with a school psychologist, other staff members and a parent. They were meeting to discuss a second-grader. “We were there for about five minutes chatting, and we heard Pop! Pop!, Pop!” Day told The Wall Street Journal. “I went under the table.” But Hochsprung and the psychologist leaped out of their seats and ran out of the room, Day recalled. “They didn’t think twice about confronting or seeing what was going on,” she said. Hochsprung was killed, and the psychologist was believed to have been killed as well. A custodian ran around, warning people there was a gunman, Varga said. “He said, `Guys! Get down! Hide!’” Varga said. “So he was actually a hero.” Did he survive? The teacher did not know. In a first-grade classroom, teacher Kaitlin Roig heard the shots. She immediately barricaded her 15 students into a tiny bathroom, sitting one of them on top of the toilet. She pulled a bookshelf across the door and locked it. She told the kids to be “absolutely quiet.” “I said, `There are bad guys out there now. We need to wait for the good guys,’” she told ABC News. “The kids were being so good,” she said. “They asked, `Can we go see if anyone is out there?’ `I just want Christmas. I don’t want to die, I just want to have Christmas.’ I said, `You’re going to have Christmas and Hanukkah.’” One student claimed to know karate. “It’s OK. I’ll lead the way out,” the student said. In the gym, crying fourth-graders huddled in a corner. One of them was 10-year-old Philip Makris. “He said he heard a lot of loud noises and then screaming,” said his mother, Melissa Makris. “Then the gym teachers immediately gathered the children in a corner and kept them safe.” Another girl who was in the gym recalled hearing “like, seven loud booms.” “The gym teacher told us to go in a corner, so we all huddled and I kept hearing these booming noises,” the girl, who was not identified by name, told NBC News. “We all started – well, we didn’t scream; we started crying, so all the gym teachers told us to go into the office where no one could find us.” An 8-year-old boy described how a teacher saved him. “I saw some of the bullets going past the hall that I was right next to, and then a teacher pulled me into her classroom,” said the boy, who was not identified by CBSNews.com. Robert Licata said his 6-year-old son was in class when the gunman burst in and shot the teacher. “That’s when my son grabbed a bunch of his friends and ran out the door,” he said. “He was very brave. He waited for his friends.” He said the shooter didn’t utter a word. “Then our teacher, somebody, yelled, `Get to a safe place.’ Then we went to a closet in the gym and we sat there for a little while, and then the police were, like, knocking on the door and they were, like, `We’re evacuating people, we’re evacuating people,’ so we ran out.” Children, warned to close their eyes so they could not see the product of his labors, were led away from their school. Parents rushed to the scene. Family members walked away from a firehouse that was being used as a staging area, some of them openly weeping. One man, wearing a T-shirt without a jacket, put his arms around a woman as they walked down the middle of the street, oblivious to everything around them. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and other public officials came to the firehouse. So did clergymen like Monsignor Robert Weiss of Newtown’s St. Rose Roman Catholic Church. He watched as parents came to realize that they would never see their children alive again. “All of them were hoping their child would be found OK. But when they gave out the actual death toll, they realized their child was gone,” Weiss said. He recalled the reaction of the brother of one of the victims. “They told a little boy it was his sister who passed on,” Weiss said. “The boy’s response was, `I’m not going to have anyone to play with.” We’ll keep you updated on this developing story… Images via twitter
The boys teacher gave him a ‘time out’ and forgot all about him. His parents had no idea what happened until their son didn’t come home after school…SMH. According to The Houston Chronicle , the teacher hasn’t lost her job…yet: A kindergarten teacher locked a 5-year-old boy in a small, dark room alone at the end of a school day then forgot the child there for over an hour, according to a southwestern Idaho father. School officials said Friday they were investigating after hearing from James Cagle, who says that when his wife found their son the boy was crying and had urinated on himself. “He was scared,” Cagle told Boise television station KTVB. “You know just think about that,” he added. “A 5-year-old boy.” Cagle said he and his wife panicked when their son didn’t come home from his morning kindergarten class Wednesday. About 45 minutes after he was supposed to be home, they headed to Washington Elementary School to look for him. Cagle said his wife and a school secretary found the boy crying and afraid in the small room in the dark, where he had apparently been for around an hour and a half after the teacher put him there for misbehaving. “I know that if I locked my child in a room long enough for him to urinate on himself, I’d be going to jail or child protective services would dang sure be here taking him out of my house that night,” Cagle said. School officials dispute that the room was locked, saying the teacher would not have had a key. Assistant District Superintendent Monica White also noted that the door to the room has a large window, which allows light in from the hallway. Still, officials acknowledge that the discipline was inappropriate. The teacher “should not have done that,” said District Superintendent Tim Rosandick. “That’s not a preferred practice,” Rosandick added. “That is not what we would have wanted her to do.” This is a damn shame! The former Bad Boy is currently serving his 15-year sentence for a murder he wasn’t sure he even committed until he confessed almost two decades after the shooting. This week’s New York Magazine shows us an in-depth scope of how Trevell went from signing a record with Bad Boy Entertainment and moving out of the Johnson Houses, only to lose it all to drugs and a troubled conscience. Highlight’s include: Coleman on how his guilty conscience never left him – “It wasn’t something I was going through periodically; it was something that was like a knot at all times. Sometimes I didn’t even want to walk with my head up. I just wanted to look down. If I stood up, I felt funny, like, ‘Who am I to be looking up?’” On getting arrested for drug charges inside 1591 Park where he had shot the man: “Maybe that was my way of confronting that demon. Or maybe I was just becoming that demon. Or that demon was consuming me. That’s how crazy I was getting.” On turning himself in: “I don’t know how me being incarcerated—I can’t measure how much it makes anything any better. But I just know what I had to do.” On receiving his 15-year sentence: “I was happy. It sounds crazy to say you were happy about getting a fifteen-to-life sentence, but I was. It just seemed to me like the end of a nightmare … I was living in 1993 for seventeen years.” Images via tumblr
Uh-Oh, did she unleash Roman from behind the judge’s table? Nicki Minaj is voicing her fears about her performance as a judge on the new season of “American Idol.” Via PEOPLE : Nicki Minaj is as fearless on stage as she is on the red carpet. But when it comes to the season premiere of American Idol on Jan. 16, the new judge isn’t quite so brave. “I’m scared,” she told Idol host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Monday morning. What’s she worried about? “Maybe I shouldn’t have been so like … ” she says, before adding, “It’s hard for me to not say how I really feel.” When Seacrest asks the singer, who performed Sunday on the American Music Awards, if she’s nervous about how honest she was with the contestants, she answers, “Yes.” “Everyone else is so nice,” she says. “I was just thinking back about some things and I was like, ‘I wonder if that was not so nice.’ “ But Minaj, 29, says she takes a tough-love approach only to help out season 11′s singers. “As an artist I’ve always grown more from the tougher criticism,” she says, “and so I would like to be that person and to try to help people get that thick skin and to really give it their all, because it is a competition.” And though Minaj won’t likely be hosting a viewing party with popcorn and friends, she does think Idol fans will enjoy the new lineup. “I don’t think I’m going to be able to watch it. I’m going to be so nervous,” she says of the premiere. “But I know people are going to love it. I think it’s a great dynamic.” Despite the on-set feud with costar Mariah Carey, Minaj says, “The chemistry of the judges, I feel it while I’m there. I think it’s really different from anything we’ve seen before on Idol and people are going to like it.” Does that mean things have cooled off between the judges? Maybe. When asked if she’ll perform with the singer, Minaj says, “If she’ll have me, I’ll be there waiting.” We’re glad to hear Nicki is ready to bury the hatchet with Mariah. Will you be watching “Idol” this season?
