We pick up the episode from the ambush dinner Ray J alleges to have organized to get to the bottom of things, but we get to the bottom of nothing. Pregnant Lyrica goes is going all the way off. Ray J continues stirring the pot. He says that this is an important talk to have since Lyrica is pregnant because now we need to know who’s baby it is. via GIPHY Y’all. via GIPHY Anyway, Ray J’s comment is all it takes for A1 to lunge at Safaree. Security breaks it up because that’s what they do. A1 stands down but he also mentions that he’s mad at Ray too, as he should be. As far as the sex in question, Lyrica is still denying it and Safaree talked in circles. First, it was that he told Ray that he sent Lyrica an eggplant pic and that he smashed. Safaree is just talking in circles and not answering the question. Lyrica asks A1 if he wants her to take a lie detector test and A1 says he doesn’t believe in that stuff. That should be enough to end this, but we know what show this is. Hold that thought. via GIPHY Now we’re at the point where Teairra Mari’s sex tape leaked. Here we go… Everyone knows what’s up now and Teairra is on the warpath. She bashes in Akbar’s car windows in as revenge because she believes he leaked the videos. Akbar denies that he leaked it but the circumstances are fishy. You would have thought he would have learned his lesson about meddling in people’s business but he links up with Roccstar and Roccstar tells Ray J that Lyrica was flirting with him and sent him suggestive text messages yatta yatta and the insinuation is that Roccstar smashed Ray J too. via GIPHY But then Ray J reveals that Lyrica is pregnant and of course the Maury jokes fly and now Ray J thinks they have to tell A1. via GIPHY Let’s fast forward to the episode’s conclusion. Ray holds a “gentlemen’s night.” Basically, it’s Solo Lucci, Marcus and A1 having a fake card game. Ray J allegedly feels bad about what happened with A1 and wants to make amends. via GIPHY A1 is the last to show up. He greets everyone but Ray because like we established earlier, he’s pissed off at Ray. Ray feigns indignation, they try to have a “civil” conversation but A1 is irritated and you know where this leads… via GIPHY They don’t fight because you know how tight security is. But then Ray J’s simple self-tells A1 to holla at Roccstar because he said he slept with Lyrica too and that the streets are saying Lyrica smashed mad dudes. And then Marcus jumps in talking about he heard the same thing (via gossip from Lyrica’s so-called friend Brooke) and Solo Lucci is chiming in with his little tidbits. Basically, A1’s thing is, he already patched things up with Lyrica so why are they still in his business? No lies detected. The end of the Hollywood Amigos is official. N ew Jersey’s Democratic Sen. Cory Booker received an important invitation to visit Iowa for a political event, signalling to many that Booker is already on the 2020 presidential campaign trail. Price declined to say whether he asked other prospective candidates to appear at the event in Iowa, the first stop in the presidential primaries. He credited the senator as “a great speaker” whom he wanted to headline the gala. “We’ve said all along that we welcome anyone who wants to help us get Democrats elected in 2018, and we’re happy to have Senator Booker’s help. This dinner is only about the great opportunities ahead of us in this election this fall,” Price told the news outlet. Iowans connected with Obama’s message of hope and change, and he rode that wave of enthusiasm all the way to the White House. The invitation suggests that Iowa Democrats want to get a closer look at Booker, and it presents an opportunity for the senator to test his message. This is yet another indication that Booker will probably announce his candidacy. Other signs include him downplaying his interest in running for president–which nearly every candidate in office does before announcing a run for president. During an exclusive interview with IOne family’s WRNB’s Quincy Harris Morning Show , Booker said: “My intention is to run for reelection. I’m not going to play coy. I’d definitely consider it (a presidential run).” Booker has also used his platform in the Senate to fire up the base, as Obama did as a senator. F rom Stacey Abrams to Kamala Harris , a handful of Black women politicians and candidates have been helping the Democratic party to gain traction despite the group’s history of inadequate support of their efforts. The list of women who have won primaries in recent months indicates that voters want women of color represented in political positions across the nation. Black women candidates are challenging underrepresentation with strategic voter mobilization efforts and agendas important to voters. With that, they have secured notable victories, from Abrams in the Georgia gubernatorial primary to Ayanna Pressley in Massachusetts’ 7th congressional district race . Jahana Hayes , a teacher, is running for Connecticut’s 5th congressional district, and Lauren Underwood , a political advisor and registered nurse, set her sights on representing Illinois 14th Congressional district. Letitia James , public advocate for the city of New York, has entered the state’s Attorney General race. Of course, Black women Democrats already in office have pushed for more transparency, accountability and social change in their roles. San Francisco Mayor London Breed had advocated for the city to stop charging post-jail fees to residents already in poverty — a wish which came true when a court pardoned a $32 million fee for 21,000 people last month. Senator Harris, the lone Black woman in the Senate, posed questions to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh about his views on Charlottesville “Unite The Right” rally and more during his confirmation hearing this week. Black women who are running to the polls, not for office, have also held it down for the party, which is seeking to gain a majority in the House and Senate come November. The voting bloc has its strength in numbers, having gotten Abrams to a primary win in May. Black women had also shown up at the ballot box in large numbers for elections in Virginia and Alabama last year. Both candidates and voters have asked the Democratic party to better address issues facing people of color such as healthcare and the economy. Democrats haven’t even thrown enough support behind Black women candidates, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) only endorsing Underwood. Democrats are being called on to do more to support candidates so they can do more to support voters and address their issues. A Black teenager who is displaying excellence in the realm of academia will be taking her talents to Howard University this fall. Brendell Allen , 16, will be a part of the institution’s 2022 graduating class, the university reported. Congrats to Young Scholar Brendell Allen, a 16 Year Old Junior Transfer Student! Despite receiving several offers from top schools across the country, the teen knew that she wanted to further her education at Howard. She plans on pursuing a degree in biology and aspires to become a surgeon. “Howard was always my first choice! When I was accepted to Howard, I knew I was ready to go. I was screaming and crying, and I cannot wait to start class,” said Allen in a statement. Allen says her personal experiences inspired her to want a career in the medical field. “A couple of years ago, my father had a massive stroke where a blood clot traveled from his heart to his brain. Since then, I’ve had the interest in cardiothoracic surgery,” she added. Howard has been working closely with community colleges to encourage students to complete their degrees at the Washington, D.C.-based school. The university has established a Transfer Student Association that organizes events throughout the year so that students feel connected to the community. “We know many arrive and don’t feel immediately connected. We make sure that transfer students feel a part of the community since day one,” said Melanie Carter , Ph.D., Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies. Like Allen, there are many other Black youngsters throughout the country who are entering college earlier than expected. Earlier this year, 11-year-old Baton Rouge native Elijah Precciely received a full-ride scholarship from Southern University.
