The YouTube legend caught up with viral sensation and country music superstar (debate your uncle) Lil Nas X. When it comes to preparation for interviewing an artist Nardwuar has to be in the discussion. The YouTube legend caught up with the buzzing artist this past weekend at the Rolling Loud music festival in Miami, Florida. In his famed interviewing style, Nardwuar brought gifts for the X that directly relate to his music while also speaking on moments in the young musician’s life. In the nearly 8 minute clip, Lil Nas X revealed that Billy Ray Cyrus said he reminded him of country music legend Johnny Cash, himself and DJ/producer Daytrip has some music on the way and that he loves Cupcake’s version of his record “Old Town Hoe.” In typical Nardwuar fashion, he managed to stun Nas X when brought up the fact that before his song took off he only had $5.62 in his Wells Fargo bank account. Lil Nas X’s fifteen minutes of fame have been extended and his hit single “Old Town Road” remained on the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 for another week putting him in a class all by himself. The song is now the first to have 100 million streams in 5 consecutive weeks. The Love & Hip Hop: New York castmates were barred from performing within 60 miles of the Wintrust Arena in Chicago for a period of time but they nixed that part of the agreement. TMZ reports : The Circle Foundation — which mentors Chicago-area youths — is suing the rappers, saying they signed to perform at a fundraising concert back on April 21, 2018, at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. According to docs, obtained by TMZ, the Foundation was forced to cancel the show after the rappers breached their contracts. The Foundation claims their contracts specifically stated Remy and Safaree could NOT perform within 60 miles of the arena for 30 days before the event. It’s called a “performance exclusivity” clause, and it’s a common practice promoters use to make sure their concerts remain in hot demand. In the suit, the Foundation says the rappers agreed and signed the deal … with Remy getting a $35k deposit payment and Safaree getting $7,250. The problem, according to the docs, is Remy performed on April 8 at the Black Women’s Expo in Chicago — and Safaree played the Rockin’ Horse Saloon & Grill on April 14 in a Chicago suburb. The Circle Foundation is suing for the money it paid out plus damages. Remy Ma’s attorney has responded and promises to look into the matter. Reps for Safaree have yet to comment. — Photo: WENN
A collective of organizations and activists dedicated to spreading awareness about racial inequality within our country’s criminal justice system and ending mass incarceration is on a mission to unite Black mothers who can’t afford to post bail with their families just in time for Mother’s Day. For the third year in a row, the National Bail Out is leading the Black Mamas Bail Out campaign as an avenue to help economically disadvantaged African American women who have been impacted by the unjust cash bail system, People reported. According to a report released by the Prison Policy Initiative , 80 percent of women in jails are mothers and a majority of them are the primary caretakers for their children. The National Coalition of Black Civic Participation estimated that 60 percent of incarcerated Black women have dependent children. The barriers and lack of resources provided for Black women in these situations led to the creation of the #FreeBlackMamas movement. Through the initiative the collective is aiming to bail out over 100 women across 35 cities this year. So far there has been over $350,000 raised. Since its inception in 2017, 300 mothers have been released and reunited with their families. Last year alone, there were over 150 mothers released. The collective’s efforts go far beyond simply bailing individuals out. As part of the campaign, the National Bail Out created the Free Black Mama’s Fellowship; an 8-week paid program that provides advocacy-focused workshops so formerly incarcerated women can turn their pain into progress and become change agents in the bail reform space. “We understand the bail outs as connected to the long and deep history of anti-Blackness. We see these fights to free our mamas for Mother’s Day and to fight against money bail really as fights that continue the work of abolition that our ancestors began,” Marbre Stahly-Butts , one of NBO’s founding members, said in a statement. “We see bail as a symptom of an underlying problem. We believe that people are more than the mistake they made. When folks have done harm, we think there are better ways to deal with that harm than to put them in a cage.” The initiative has proven to be nothing short of effective and impactful. “It was a beautiful feeling, for people who did not know me, to come and get me out for Mother’s Day,” one of the mothers who was recently released and reunited with her family told ABC News . “They became family.” SEE ALSO: T.I. When Sony announced that they were working on Spider-Man spinoff films for Venom and Morbius without the teenage webslinger even as so much as making an appearance, there was a collective groan from comic book fans around the world. But with the surprising success of the actually entertaining Venom , Sony is now going full steam ahead with production on Morbius which stars Jared Leto as biochemist Michael Morbius who’s turned into the Living Vampire after a failed lab experiment, and Tyrese Gibson as Agent Simon Stroud who’s hot on the trail of the blood sucking antihero. That being said it’s almost inevitable that Morbius and Venom will at some point crossover but whether or not Spider-Man will ever join the fray remains to be seen. Being that Marvel Studios has Sony’s permission to use Spider-Man in their films for a few more flicks before that deal runs out means that it’s only a matter of time before Sony reboots their Spider-Man franchise and integrates him back into their own Marvel universe. But whether or not they’ll keep fan favorite Spidey Tom Holland in that role or recast it with a new face is anyone’s guess at this point. Well, according to the Love and Hip Hop Atlanta star, she’s already due to give birth in just a few more days to to her identical twin girls. At least, that’s what she says is the plan via a post she shared on social media on Monday. The 34-year-old shared a picture of herself in a chic sweatsuit, in heels, holding on to her baby bump, which from the side is quite the site to see. In fact, she had an IUD implanted. “I am pregnant. Wasn’t trying to get pregnant,” she said at the time. “This is something that, I ain’t even going to say kind of happened but in a sense it did because I had a Mirena. Email Submit But all that confusion aside, she saw the blessing in her situation and was working to get used to the ups and downs of carrying twins this time around. “This pregnancy has been really, really difficult for me,” she said. “I’ve been vomiting up until now, being 15 weeks. Still vomiting. Still taking Zofran to stop the nausea to keep me from vomiting. Just trying to take it a day at a time.” In a follow-up vlog, she revealed that she’s having monochorionic-diamniotic twins , also known as mono di. These twins, who share a placenta but have two amniotic sacs, make up 20 percent of spontaneous twin conception. “I carry unique twins,” she said. “So the twins I carry are called mono/di twins, which means that they simply share a placenta. They’re getting all their resources from that one placenta. That does come with risks and complications, but I am prayerful. I’m going to keep pushing on and I just know I’m going to be blessed with two beautiful girls.” And it seems like very, very soon, those blessings will be here. In the mean time, Dixon can continue enjoying her interesting cravings: salads and beans. “I’ve been having some really, really, really weird cravings. My go-to lately has been salads, soups and vinagrette dressing,” she said in her most recent vlog. “Why? I don’t know. And veggies, a lot of vegetables. A lot of lima beans…beans period. Black beans, butter beans, kidney beans, which is good because these are healthy cravings, but I’m just surprised. I normally like sweets.
