NYC Lawmakers Considering Voting Rights For Illegal Immigrants Lawmakers in NYC are slated to begin discussing the approval of legislation that would give illegal immigrants the right to vote. via Fox News Hundreds of thousands of New York City immigrants could get the right to vote in local elections under a proposal before lawmakers. A City Council hearing is scheduled for Thursday on a plan to allow people who are in the country legally, but aren’t citizens, to vote. Advocates estimate that could be more than 800,000 people. Many U.S. states once let noncitizens vote, though policies changed by the 1930s. Some Maryland cities now allow it, and the idea has been floated in New York’s City Council for years. Supporters say immigrants who pay taxes deserve to decide who spends them. Opponents say voting should be reserved for citizens. Via Belfast Telegraph reports : Beyoncé Knowles treated her dancers to a $26,000 bash to mark her last London tour date. The Sun reports that the superstar singer treated her crew to the celebratory bash to mark the end of the London leg of her tour. Beyoncé splashed out $26,000 on alcohol in a Champagne bar at an East London hotel following the last of her six shows at the capital’s O2 Arena. “Beyonce wanted to say thanks to all of the backing dancers, crew and everyone else involved with putting on the six shows,” a source told the newspaper. “Between the lot of them they managed to drink their way through more than $26,000 worth of booze in just a few hours.” Her dancers clearly enjoyed letting their hair down at Beyoncé’s bash, although the tour still has some way to go. The Mrs Carter World Tour. will end in August taking in a total of 65 dates including 35 in Europe. “They got stuck in as they knew they had a few days off afterwards,” the insider recalled. “They were still in there at closing time at 4am. “They are only part-way through her tour, but the pressure was on in London and she was chuffed they all helped her put on a good show.” Beyoncé still has three gigs to play in Manchester, before jetting off to Dublin and Belgium. Gravity is the latest “isolation” movie that follows one person’s–or in this case two people’s–terrifying battles against harsh, stark, nature. Think Castaway or 127 Hours or any of the Twilight movies (in this case you, the audience member are the one stranded in isolation). The difference with Gravity , starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, is that it takes place in space. Everything’s way more terrifying in space. Tom Mesereau Says AEG Is Behind Molestation Claim According to TMZ Something stinks in Wade Robson’s new molestation accusations against Michael Jackson — so says MJ’s famed trial attorney Tom Mesereau, who tells us the smell leads all the way back to AEG … the company currently being sued by Katherine Jackson. Tom called in to “TMZ Live” moments ago, claiming the timing of Wade’s accusations is extremely suspicious — considering the legal battle currently raging between Katherine and AEG … the concert promoters behind MJ’s 2009 “This Is It Tour.” Katherine and Michael’s children are suing AEG, claiming the company is responsible for MJ’s death by negligently hiring Conrad Murray to care for the singer … and potentially BILLIONS of dollars are at stake. Mesereau insinuates Wade’s accusations are motivated by money … specifically a payoff from AEG, which is currently on a mission to trash Michael’s reputation. Michael Jackson Accused Of Molestation Again According to TMZ Michael Jackson has been posthumously accused of molesting a now-famous choreographer who spent lots of time with the singer at the Neverland Ranch … TMZ has learned. TMZ has obtained legal docs … filed by Wade Robson … in which he’s asking for money from the Michael Jackson Estate for childhood sexual abuse. Robson — now 30 years old — has worked with top names in pop music including Britney Spears, *NSYNC, Usher and P!nk. He has also appeared on “So You Think You Can Dance.” Wade met Michael when he was 5 years old and they developed a friendship that lasted for years. By the time Wade was 7, he went for sleepovers at Neverland and MJ’s homes in L.A. and Vegas. The sleepovers continued until Wade was 14. Wade even performed to a Michael Jackson song on “Star Search” when he was 8 years old. In 2005, Wade testified in MJ’s molestation trial and DENIED Michael ever molested him. Wade’s lawyer filed legal docs May 1 asking the judge in the Michael Jackson Estate case to allow him to file a late creditor’s claim against the Estate. In the documents, Wade’s lawyer says he submitted a never-before filed complaint “for childhood sexual abuse.” Wade’s lawyer has filed the actual complaint under seal — which means it’s not available to the public. Sources tell TMZ … the complaint specifically outlines the alleged abuse at the hands of Michael Jackson. Wade’s lawyer also mentions a psychiatrist who treated Wade — the doctor is a leader in the field of child psychology. Interestingly … in the 2005 molestation trial, Jackson’s former housekeeper, Blanca Francia, testified she witnessed Jackson in the shower with Wade when the boy was 8 or 9 years old. Lauryn Hill Sentenced To 3 Months In Jail According to TMZ Lauryn Hill has been sentenced to spend 3 months in FEDERAL PRISON for tax evasion … even though she claims she paid off her nearly $1 million bill to Uncle Sam before sentencing. A judge in Newark, New Jersey dished out the sentence moments ago … and told Hill that after she completes her stint behind bars, she’ll spend 3 more months on house arrest … followed by 9 months of supervised release. Before the hearing, Hill’s attorney told the media the singer scraped together more than $970,000 to repay her debt to the government. The 37-year-old former Fugee pled guilty last year to three counts of tax evasion for failing to file returns on $1.8 million she earned from 2005 to 2007. Lauryn’s attorney asked for mercy because of her charity work and 6 kids … but the judge wasn’t buying it. During the hearing, the judge ordered Hill to report to prison by July 8. It’s unclear where Hill will serve her time. Hill was present during the hearing, and delivered a statement to the judge in which she compared her situation to slavery. “I was put into a system I didn’t know the nature of. … I’m a child of former slaves. I got into an economic paradigm and had that imposed on me,” Hill said. She continued, “I sold 50 million units … now I’m up here paying a tax debt. If that’s not likened to slavery, I don’t know what is.” Like we said before, that smooth chocolate skin and soulful voice makes her a target in jail.
