Rihanna Poses Nude On ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ Cover

Art for first single from Loud shows singer with long, red hairdo. By James Dinh Rihanna (file) Photo: Jamie McCarthy/ WireImage Rihanna has ditched her clothes (and her short hairdo) for the cover art of her new single “Only Girl (In The World).” In the photo, which surfaced on Rap-Up.com , the Barbadian pop singer is seen crouched down in a field, wearing nothing but jewelry and holding a rose-embroidered dress that is bright red; her hair is long and wavy and a similar shade. “Only Girl (In The World)” is the first release from the singer’s fifth album, Loud . Earlier this week, Rihanna chatted with fans about the album’s direction , saying, “I made sure not to let you down with my music! You guys are always defending me, so now you’ve got some great songs to justify it. I didn’t want to go backward and remake [2007’s] Good Girl Gone Bad .” In addition to the cover art, the singer’s official website has been revamped to showcase her most recent tattoo, which says “rebelle fleur” (French for “rebel flower”). The New York Post reported that the singer recently shot advertisements for her debut fragrance, Reb’l Fleur, at New York complex Chelsea Piers with the help of Frank Ginsberg. This isn’t the first time that Rihanna has stripped down for a photo shoot. Last year, she wrapped her bare torso in barbed wire for the cover of her single “Russian Roulette” and posed topless for the cover of “Wait Your Turn.” What do you think of the cover of Rihanna’s new single? Bruno Mars Premieres ‘Just The Way You Are’ Video

Romantic clip debuts at MTV.com Wednesday (September 8). By Hillary Crosley Bruno Mars in his video for “Just the Way You Are” Photo: Atlantic Bruno Mars ‘ romantic chorus on the B.o.B-led hit “Nothin’ On You” isn’t the last of his sweet lyrics. The Hawaiian-born singer released a creative clip for his single “Just the Way You Are” on Wednesday (September 8) at MTV.com. Sporting a feathered fedora, denim jacket and a smile, the singer-songwriter charms viewers in the stripped-down video, which uses animation to exemplify Bruno’s adoration for his lady. Taking a cassette, Mars stretches out the tape inside to reveal animated interpretations of his lyrics. From a flattering drawing of his lady to a mock-up of the singer himself behind a piano, the concept is eye-catching. “Her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like they’re not shining/ Her hair, her hair falling perfectly without her trying/ She’s so beautiful and I tell her every day,” he sings. On the heels of two top singles, “Nothin’ On You” and “Billionaire,” featuring Mars on the chorus, the singer released a four-song EP titled It’s Better if You Don’t Understand in May. Mars told MTV News that the project was a collection of “songs in my back pocket and the label thought it’d be a good time to give people a little taste of what they’re gonna get with the album. The EP came together real nice; you’re gonna get a nice effect of what’s in store.” Now Mars is getting ready to release his debut full-length album via Atlantic Records and gearing up for his live performance at the 2010 MTV VMAs. The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12. The party starts with MTV News’ VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday. Related Artists Bruno Mars

Disturbed Knock Katy Perry From Billboard #1 Slot

Eminem’s Recovery holds at #3. By Gil Kaufman Disturbed’s “Asylum” Photo: Warner Music Group It was a short trip to the top for Katy Perry . Despite locking down not one but two of the summer’s biggest smashes with “California Gurls” and the title track to her Teenage Dream album, Perry lost her #1 slot on the Billboard 200 after just one week, as veteran Chicago metal act Disturbed wrangle their fourth #1 debut in a row with Asylum . The album moved 179,000 copies, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. They’re followed by the 35th edition of the Now! series at #2 (105,000), with Eminem holding pat at the #3 slot with Recovery, which moved another 93,000, putting his smash return to form one week away from passing the 2.5 million mark. Other newcomers in the top 10 include R&B singer Lyfe Jennings , who hit #6 with I Still Believe (36,000), the Goo Goo Dolls with Something for the Rest of Us (#7, 34,000) and classic-rock sister duo Heart , whose Red Velvet Car crashes in at #10 on sales of 27,000. In an overall weak sales period, the rest of the top 10 include Perry at #4 (88,000, down 54 percent), Fantasia , Back to Me (#5, 40,000, down 66 percent from week one), Justin Bieber , My World 2.0 (#8, 31,000) and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (#9, 28,000). After debuting at #4, Usher ‘s Versus drops to #13 as sales were cut in half to 22,000, while the Arcade Fire hold mostly steady with The Suburbs, which ticks up two spots to #14 (21,000) as the Canadian indie heroes steam toward 300,000 sold in just over a month. Academy Award-winning country songwriter Ryan Bingham debuts at #19 with Junky Star (17,000), while alt metal rockers Papa Roach hit #23 (16,000) with their first live album, Time for Annihilation … On the Record and On the Road, which also contains five new studio tracks. As it turns out, there was plenty of competition for Fabolous , whose There Is No Competition 2: The Funeral Service could only muster a #32 debut (12,000), while real-life indie couple Jenny and Johnny come in at #37 with their debut, I’m Having Fun Now (10,000). Perry’s run at the top of the iTunes album charts was also a quick one, as Disturbed topple her there as well, pushing the pop tart down to #2, followed by Eminem, Goo Goo Dolls, Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons ‘ Sigh No More , the Camp Rock soundtrack, the Weepies ‘ Be My Thrill , Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs ‘ God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise and Bingham. Though iTunes does not release detailed sales data, it’s clear Perry still has some singles love, as “Teenage Dream” continues its run atop the iTunes singles chart, followed by the same, slightly shuffled cast of characters including Bruno Mars (“Just the Way You Are”), Taio Cruz (“Dynamite”), Eminem (“Love the Way You Lie”), Usher (“DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love”), Enrique Iglesias (“I Like It”), Nelly (“Just a Dream”), Ke$ha (“Take It Off”), Taylor Swift (“Mine”) and B.o.B (“Magic”). Things should be pretty tame at the top next week, as new albums by Stone Sour , Interpol and Anberlin jockey for position with the latest from singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles . Willow Smith Makes Music Debut With ‘Whip My Hair’

Will and Jada Pinkett’s fashion-forward 9-year-old is earning Rihanna comparisons. By Daniela Capistrano Willow Smith (file) Photo: Jun Sato/WireImage/Getty Images If the early enthusiasm is to be believed, Rihanna may have a threat in 9-year-old Willow Smith. On Tuesday, the pint-size daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith leaked her first single, “Whip My Hair,” setting music blogs abuzz with comparisons to the Barbadian R&B star. With a crazy beat that works on the schoolyard and the dance floor, Willow tells the ladies to snap their heads “back and forth” and whip that hair like a helicopter. Solange Knowles has co-signed on the track, tweeting , “Willow Smith make me wanna whip some haiiirrr in this house. Ummm kill em girl. Kill em!” Brandy jumped onboard too. “OK, these lil Smith kids are AMAZING!!” the singer tweeted . “I whip my hair back and forth… Ms Willow is not to be played with!!” Encouraged by her talented parents, Willow is embarking on a music career when many of her peers are simply worrying about third grade homework. She made her acting debut at the age of 6, starring alongside her father in 2007’s “I Am Legend.” Her credits also include a role in “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl” and voice-over work for the animated feature “Madagascar 2.” Already building a fanbase with her eclectic red-carpet fashion, Willow tagged along with big brother Jaden to Justin Bieber ‘s concert at Madison Square Garden last week. Jaden was there to rap alongside Bieber on their “Karate Kid” track “Never Say Never.” But Willow is also drawing the attention of Bieber’s camp. On Tuesday, Justin’s video director Alfredo Flores tweeted , “WHAT!!??! Willow Smith just KILLED “Whip My Hair”… Rihanna, Keri, Ciara, Ashanti – please be warned.” With rumors circulating that Willow will sign with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation music label and start her own clothing line, she might soon be overshadowing her big brother, or even her parents. Jada, who has fronted her own metal band, told Ambassador magazine back in June that Willow is working on an album that will be released soon. What do you think of Willow Smith’s new song? Justin Bieber Activity Drives Three Percent Of Twitter Traffic

‘Racks of servers are dedicated to him,’ says Dustin Curtis, designer who works for Twitter. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: George Pimentel/ WireImage There are any number of ways to measure just how deeply Justin Bieber has impacted American society: from platinum record sales to sold-out shows packed with screaming fans to the popularity of the singer’s signature brush-down bowl haircut. But on Tuesday, a designer at Twitter put Bieb’s influence in a thoroughly modern context. “At any moment, Justin Bieber uses 3 percent of our infrastructure. Racks of servers are dedicated to him,” tweeted Dustin Curtis, a designer who works at the micro-blogging service. That tidbit should come as no surprise, since Bieber — slated to perform at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards — has more than 5 million followers and is an almost daily trending topic on the 140-character-limit service. He also noted that there are three things that reliably drive traffic at Twitter: “(a) bashing airlines, (b) bashing Comic Sans, (c) Justin Bieber.” Tech blog Gizmodo reported that Curtis confirmed his tweet was no joke and that he got that information directly from another Twitter employee. The blog noted that even though Bieber is often a trending topic, given the fact that Twitter has 180 million unique visitors a month, his 3 percent land grab is still pretty impressive. Curtis later tweeted that “most of the popular users on Twitter have dedicated servers for their accounts,” which The Hollywood Reporter took to mean that stars such as Ashton Kutcher, Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian, each with more than four million followers, likely have their own racks as well. The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. Related Artists Justin Bieber

Lady Gaga Book Shows Monster Ball Behind The Scenes

Photographer Terry Richardson follows singer everywhere, Gaga tells Vogue Hommes Japan. By James Dinh Lady Gaga Photo: Matt Harper/ MTV News Dressing up as her male alter-ego, Jo Calderone, isn’t the only surprise Lady Gaga has in store for fans in the upcoming issue of Vogue Hommes Japan. The singer, who is decked out in a string of raw meat with an open mouth on an alternate cover of the mag, dished about an upcoming Monster Ball book with photographer Terry Richardson and incorporating her artistic vision with another photographer, Steven Klein, on her “Alejandro” clip. “He wanted to do a book about the Monster Ball,” she says in the magazine, which hit stands Sunday. “He wanted to shoot me backstage, not onstage, and look at who I am offstage. He’s on the bus with me. He just follows me everywhere. He’ll photograph me when I’m changing — those quick changes during the show. And sometimes I’ll have to pee during the show, and I’m always screaming, ‘Terry, get out!’ ” But Gaga believes that Richardson remains keen on keeping the project full of candid moments, saying, “And he’ll be saying, ‘It’s so beautiful. You’re so punk!’ If only my fans knew I was peeing in a beer cup backstage.” Whether it’s her red-carpet fashion or the outfits donned during her everlasting Monster Ball Tour, the singer has always had an eye for pushing the fashion envelope . Things were no different when she had the opportunity to work on her “Alejandro” video with another critically acclaimed photographer: Steven Klein. “We are both very strong-willed, and we both have very specific visions,” she said. “And I knew his specific vision and he knew mine so that it was like tugging at a rope together.” But Mother Monster has ended up tying what she calls “a beautiful knot” with Klein despite their creative differences. “I wanted to bring him out of his comfort zone, and he wanted to bring me out of mine,” she explained. “I think what made the ‘Alejandro’ video so successful was getting Steven to look at pop choreography and my aesthetic in putting things that are really interesting of how to sell messages and metaphors into a pop landscape, so it suddenly becomes universal and means something completely different. And him stripping me down, taking off all my makeup, no eyelashes, no liner, saying ‘I’m cutting all of your hair off’ and not tanned. … For me, I was hyperventilating, but it did force me to be myself.” Being a pop star who takes her image by the reins only makes Gaga comparable to her idols of earlier decades, she says. “Everybody knew about it. It wasn’t like you had to do the research or pull the references back then. It seemed innately part of who everybody was,” she said, comparing herself to pop stars from the ’70s. “The art and the fashion and the music world were all intertwined, and I guess that is the world that I live in today just through who I truly am.” Are you excited for Gaga’s upcoming project with Terry Richardson? Rihanna Debuts New Single, ‘Only Girl (In The World)’

Club banger premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Tuesday morning. By James Dinh Rihanna Photo: WireImage After going deep and dark on her last album, Rihanna has returned to the dance floor with her new single “Only Girl (In The World).” The song, which premiered early Tuesday morning (September 7) on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, plays off the title of her Last Girl On Earth tour and was produced by the Norwegian production team Stargate, who were also behind her hits “Don’t Stop The Music” and “Hate That I Love You.” On the high-energy track, Rihanna yearns for her lover to keep her at the center of his attention over a pulsing electro beat. The singer’s voice remains silky on the verses, then bursts out on the song’s monstrous chorus. “Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world/ Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love/ Like I’m the only one who knows your heart/ Only girl in the world,” she belts. “Only Girl” is a departure from “Russian Roulette,” the stark lead single from her 2009 album Rated R . The new track only furthers speculation that the singer’s fifth album, Loud , will contain material that isn’t as dark as the songs on her last full-length. Back in June, producer Sean Garrett told MTV News that he was working with Rihanna on material that was “very positive and very explosive. Heavy in the club.” Last week, Ri tweeted at Seacrest a hint that new music would drop soon : “In less than 10 dayz ima send u sumn special,” she wrote, “and ur gonna play it OVER and OVER, like I’m the only girl in the world!” What do you think of Rihanna’s new single? Do you prefer the singer’s uptempo club bangers or her darker material? Sound off below! Related Artists Rihanna
