Britney Spears Glee Episode: Confirmed!

That would-be Britney Spears-themed episode of Glee the singer’s manager Tweeted about in a shameless attempt to cash in on the Fox series’ buzz? It’s totally on! We’re as surprised as anyone, but show creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that he’s writing an episode dedicated to her. More than 13.5 million people tuned in to a Madonna-inspired episode last April. Can a Britney-themed episode come close to that total? Probably. Will it be any good? That’s another story. GIMME MORE GLEE! Britney Spears’ music is coming to the second season of the hit show. Hopefully the Glee cast all goes to Starbucks in honor of the pop princess . Not everyone on the show, which was nominated for 19 Emmys, will be thrilled. Last May, Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, actually scoffed at the idea : “I hope our show doesn’t go along that route,” he said. We sort of hoped they wouldn’t, too, but perhaps we’ll be pleasantly surprised. It just doesn’t seem like she has the kind of catalog or musical style to fit the show. Lady Gaga and Madonna have more vocal talent. Breathy moans, suggestive lyrics and auto-tuning might sell records, but how will they translate on the program? What Britney song would make the best Glee cover?

Before Raymond dropped, the hit-making heartthrob told MTV News that the album held special significance for him. “This album means so much to my career,” Usher said. “I think this is the one time where I’m able to put it all in, emotionally and the good times — super-freaky and then also super-emotional. Raymond v. Raymond, artistically, is one of my greatest pieces of work, not only just because of the content but also the people whom I got involved in it: T.I., Will.I.Am, Puff, Nicki Minaj.” Usher has also proven he has an eye for talent with the breakout success of teen prot

Bret Michaels: Thankful, Ready to Rock Again!

Fans that worry about the return of Bret Michaels to the stage – so soon after his hospitalization for a brain hemmorage in April – can rest easy. That’s the message this singer had in an interview with Entertainment Tonight last night. He said: “I took every precaution. I wouldn’t do it if I thought I was going to die. I fought too hard to live. I want to show people I’m healthy. I feel great. I’m thankful for all the well wishes and everything that came my way, but let’s get back to having a great time. “Let’s get back to rockin’ again.” During the discussion with Samantha Harris, Bret touched on a couple other topics, including the flak he got for a duet with Miley Cyrus . Excerpts are below: On leaving the hospital : “After you spend literally what was almost a month and half in three different ICU units, I was done. I was like, ‘I need to get out of here.’ It becomes extremely depressing, and what gets me up and going out there is making music and being around my family and friends. That’s an awesome feeling.” On the Cyrus controversy : “[Miley] came in and sang a really, really awesome harmony to it. And it caused amazing controversy out of nothing. There was all this, you know, ‘How can they be singing a duet together?’ And I said, ‘It’s not a duet. She’s singing harmonies.’” On getting back to business : “I have a job I love. “Let me tell you, if I had a job that I hated or it sucked, I would’ve milked that brain hemorrhage for another three years. I would’ve gone until the insurance ran out and said, ‘Man I can’t get up.’ “But I’m like, this is what I love to do and I figure if I can do it why not go out there and enjoy myself? And if it mentally helps me to heal, and physically helps me to heal, that’s a good day.”

Justin Bieber Is Not Going To North Korea, Rep Confirms

Bieber-related Internet hoaxes and attacks abound in recent weeks. By James Montgomery Justin Bieber Photo: George Pimentel/ WireImage At this point, Justin Bieber ‘s camp is sort of used to the Internet hoaxes — he’s had syphilis, gotten pregnant and even died a few times, if you can believe what you read — but over the past week, there’s been one hoax that just won’t go away: His (supposed) concert stop in North Korea. It all started with a supposed contest organized by a site called Faxo.com that allowed fans to vote on which country he should visit on an upcoming leg of his My World Tour, with absolutely no restrictions. That proved advantageous for the jokesters over at the notorious 4chan message board, who encouraged folks to vote for North Korea — the communist nation where citizens are denied Internet access and the media is strictly controlled by the government. Within days, North Korea climbed the charts, and by Wednesday, when the contest ended, it had leapfrogged Israel to claim the top spot. Of course, the Internet went insane once again, and some media outlets even reported that the contest was real. But while the idea of Bieber performing for Kim Jong-il is certainly hilarious, it’s not actually true. Sure, North Korea may have won the Faxo contest, but the contest was in no way sanctioned by Bieber or anyone in his camp, according to a statement e-mailed on Wednesday (July 7) to MTV News. “It was a spoof site,” a spokesperson for Bieber wrote. “This is not a legitimate contest.” So, sadly, the Justin Bieber North Korea concert will not come to fruition anytime soon, something the Internet attributed to something other than the contest’s illegitimacy. Early Wednesday morning, more pranksters had made the most-searched term on Google Trends “Justin Bieber Hates Korea.” Meanwhile, Bieber fans were subjected to yet another Internet attack. According to the BBC , hackers wrote code into the comments sections of Bieber videos on YouTube, flashing unsuspecting fans with news of the singer’s death and/or redirecting them to adult websites. Google issued a statement saying the company “took swift action to fix a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability” on the video site. None of this seems to have slowed Bieber’s own Internet activity, however, as the avid Twitterer continues to rally his followers around his latest singles and even deigns to respond to a rumor or two. Back in June, for instance, he wrote, “One … I’m not dead. I had to check on this one … but it turns out I’m alive.” Related Videos Frame By Frame: Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber’s ‘Eenie Meenie’ MTV News Extended Play: Justin Bieber Related Photos Justin Bieber And His Many Lady Friends Related Artists Justin Bieber

Lil’ Kim Says Collabo With Rihanna Is ‘Probably In The Works’

‘I’m 90 percent sure that a song is probably in the works,’ Kim says. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil’ Kim Photo: Getty Images Hip-hop diva Lil’ Kim is looking to collaborate with pop princess Rihanna. The MC recently opened up to Australia’s Lifelounge about her dream collaboration and singled out the chart-topping singer as an artist she’d like to work with. “I’m a huge [Rihanna] fan and she’s a friend of mine, so I’m almost guessing — if I had to guess — I’m 90 percent sure that a song is probably in the works,” Kim told the magazine’s website , hinting that she and Rihanna may have already touched base about teaming up on a record. However, Kim said that she’s not stressing the potential collaboration and wants to spring the track on the world if, and when, the time is right. “I look at it this way: If it happens, it happens. And it should be a surprise. It shouldn’t be something that people are anticipating, or have their own personal opinions on it before it even comes out,” the rapper said. Whether or not a Kim/Rihanna collabo jumps off, the MC maintained that she has a lot of love for the singer. “I think she’s great.” The potential collaboration is just another Lil’ Kim matchup that has been thrown around. Earlier this year, Ludacris said that Kim and Nicki Minaj should hook up for a track and end the drama between the two femcees. “I think if Lil’ Kim and Nicki Minaj do a record together it’s gonna kill the entire industry,” Luda told MTV News last month . “You don’t have that many women in the industry so the lane is wide open.” Would you like to see Lil’ Kim join forces with Rihanna? Kelis Says Recording Flesh Tone Was ‘Freeing’

‘I recorded it at home … literally laying on my couch,’ the singer laughs to MTV News of new album. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Steven Roberts Kelis Photo: MTV News The last couple of years have been a whirlwind for Kelis . She dealt with the demise of her marriage to Nas, celebrated the subsequent birth of her son, Knight, with the rapper and on Tuesday (July 6), the release of Flesh Tone, her first studio album in four years. We recently caught up with the singer, who said making the electro-infused album was liberating, noting that she hadn’t been hampered by the demands of her record label or any other outside influence. “Recording this album was a really freeing experience for me,” Kelis told MTV News. “There was no, like, label or opinion — there was no business involved. It’s great to be able to make music and to do this for a living. But the reality is when you can take [the] business out of the creation of music, is when it’s at its best,” Kelis said, adding, “It was just me.” The eclectic singer also divulged that the studio process was not only cathartic but cozy. “I recorded it at home and I recorded it, like, literally laying on my couch. It’s just the most comfortable way to possibly record an album with, like, snacks next to me,” Kelis laughed. “It was awesome.” According to Kelis, Flesh Tone, which includes the thumping electro-house track “4th of July (Fireworks)” and the chart-topping dance hit “Acapella,” touches on a few themes, from getting in tune with one’s spirituality to appreciating the little things in life. “The first thing is, just, like, God, and really being really blessed,” Kelis said. “I was pregnant, so I was made aware of a lot of things that I think we take for granted.” She revealed that even though it had been years since her last album, she hadn’t expected to be back on the scene for a while. “I didn’t plan on doing another record this soon. I know it’s been four years but for me it’s been really soon.” Feeling free is another topic that runs through Flesh Tone, and she addresses it most specifically on songs like “4th of July (Fireworks).” “That record, like most of the records on the album, is about, there’s a freedom in surrender and just … love, and life and baby,” said Kelis, whose son was born in July 2009. “Fireworks is … to me a great way to explain something, like, magnificent.” What do you think of Kelis’ new album? Britney Spears Opens Up About Her Sons In Cosmo

Spears says she will lock her sons in their rooms if they decide to go into show business. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears on the cover of Cosmopolitan Photo: Hearst A smiling Britney Spears appears on the cover of the August issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, which hits newsstands on July 13. In the issue, Spears, who is currently working on new music , opens up about her life in the spotlight and her sons. “If my sons [Sean and Jayden] told me they wanted to be in the entertainment business, I’d lock them in their rooms until they turned 30,” Spears, who kicked off her career as a child star on the “Mickey Mouse Club,” admitted about the prospect of her sons entering the family business. As for how she spends her days now, the singer said that she’s just busy being a mom to her two young sons. “Things are pretty quiet right now. I’ve been spending a lot of time at home with my boys,” she said. “They just started karate class, which is super cute!” And while things are quiet now, she says that when the time comes, she doesn’t want to have to talk to Jayden and Sean about the birds and the bees. “I’m dreading the moment when my sons ask me how babies are made,” she said. Spears, who recently released her own clothing collection for Candie’s , adds that there’s one aspect of her career that she always knew was inevitable: the constant paparazzi presence in her life. “[It’s] something I always knew would come with the job I chose,” she explained. George Michael’s Driving And Drugging Woes

The singer’s latest driving-related arrest caps off years of erratic behavior behind the wheel. By Mawuse Ziegbe George Michael Photo: Live 8/ Getty Images In his latest headline-making turn behind the wheel, pop singer George Michael was arrested on Sunday in London on suspicion of being unfit to drive. Michael was taken to a London police station after cops received reports that a car had smashed into a building. While the weekend crash recalls a scene from, say, “The Dukes of Hazzard” or “Cops,” the collision was just another mark on Michael’s growing list of rowdy (and often drug-related) automotive incidents. Michael shot to fame in the 1980s as a member of the Brit pop duo Wham! and later found solo success with hits like “Faith,” “I Want Your Sex” and “Father Figure.” After getting arrested in a Beverly Hills restroom and being charged with “engaging in a lewd act” in 1998 — a move that sparked massive media attention and eventually led the singer to both acknowledge his sexuality and spoof the incident in the video for his single “Outside” — Michael has lit up headlines in recent years more for his erratic behavior than for his hit-making prowess. 2006 – Authorities arrested Michael after the star was found slumped over in a car and blocking traffic in central London . The singer was detained on suspicion of possessing Class C drugs (Class C drugs include a range of substances, such as marijuana and painkillers) and then released on bail. Michael was involved in a similar incident just a few months later. Once again, the star was found knocked out in a vehicle and then crashed into a traffic divider when a fellow driver woke him. 2007 – Michael was barred from driving for two years after crashing into three parked vehicles and failing to notify the owners of the cars before driving away. 2008 – Even on foot, the star continued to run into trouble. The singer was arrested on drug-possession charges after an attendant caught Michael in a public restroom in London (a seemingly favored haunt for the troubled singer) with a “small amount” of marijuana and crack cocaine. Luckily for the star, Michael was not charged and was sent along with a cautionary warning. 2009 – In what appears to be an annual trend for the singer, Michael was arrested again after he crashed his Land Rover into a truck . The star was questioned and then released and later denied being inebriated in a statement: “Neither of us [the truck driver nor Michael] was charged because we were both stone cold sober.” The star added, “I don’t want my fans or my family worried by what they are reading all over again.” Related Artists George Michael
