Singer’s troubles following his assault on Rihanna continue. By Gil Kaufman Chris Brown Photo: Jed Jacobsohn/ Getty Images Chris Brown was forced to cancel an upcoming European promotional tour after officials in England would not grant him a work visa. According to BBC News , the singer had to postpone the U.K. dates because he was denied permission to enter the country on the grounds of being guilty of a serious criminal offense. In a statement, the British Home Office explained, “We reserve the right to refuse entry to the U.K. to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offense. Public safety is one of our primary concerns. … Each application to enter the U.K. is considered on its individual merits.” Brown has struggled to get his career back on track following his guilty plea to felony assault stemming from his attack on former girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009. He was sentenced to 180 days of community labor, a year of domestic-abuse counseling and five years’ probation, which will end on August 25, 2014. During that period, the court has mandated that he must stay away from Rihanna. Brown was slated to perform three of his Fan Appreciation shows in the U.K. this week, starting with a gig in Glasgow on Wednesday night, followed by dates in London and Manchester and two others in Cork and Dublin, Ireland. The tour’s promoter, SJM, said the dates had been postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances,” though they advised ticket holders to keep their tickets as there could be “possible re-arranged dates.” The BBC reported that Brown had tweeted about the incident and confirmed the visa denial, but that the comments were later scrubbed from his feed. According to MTV U.K. , the original tweet read, “SORRY to all the fans in Europe! My tour is cancelled … I’m pretty sure y’all know. My entry was denied in your country. I love you. SORRY!!” An unidentified spokesperson for Brown added, “Due to issues surrounding his work visas, [the] Ireland and United Kingdom leg of Chris Brown’s Fan Appreciation Tour has been postponed … Chris looks forward to performing for his fans abroad in the near future and thanks them for their continued support.” A spokesperson for Brown could not be reached for comment at press time. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News About a week before the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , Robert Pattinson — a multiple nominee for his role in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” — got some very stern, profanity-laced advice about his hair from Hollywood “mega mogul”/ dance machine Les Grossman. The producer warned the actor, who was considering a shave and a wash for his usual bed-head, not to do anything different to his shaggy mane. “Your filthy hair made you a star,” Grossman raged at RPattz . “Your filthy hair made me hundreds of millions of dollars!” But it seems Pattinson didn’t much care for Grossman’s two cents, as he showed up Sunday night sporting a clean, freshly cut new ‘do. When MTV News caught up with the “Twilight” heartthrob backstage, we had to ask the Movie Award winner whether he felt any different with his short hair. Specifically, whether he’d lost any superpowers — like the ability to incite uncontrollable screaming or to inspire inexplicable, cross-generational obsession from teens, tweens and housewives — since taking clippers to his famously untamed mane. “No,” Pattinson said, humbly denying any superhero capabilities. “I feel so much better, so much better … It’s like having, I don’t know, I feel like I’m wearing two wigs most of the time. Photo: Getty Images T.I. is feverishly at work on his forthcoming album, King Uncaged, his first collection of new music since finishing his federal prison sentence earlier this year for a 2007 gun rap. The Atlanta MC has rolled out two tracks, “I’m Back” and “Yeah Ya Know (Takers),” in addition to his recently released F— a Mixtape. After going through a challenging period in his life, with the death of his best friend and jail time, the rapper has a new perspective on things. “I’m older. I’m wiser. I’m more mature,” Tip told MTV News on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards , his first awards show since leaving prison . “I’m more patient. And I just take it as it comes.” So does that mean we’ll be seeing a more conscious Tip on his next project? “Nah, not at all,” he said. “I still feel like I have my edge. But I have some intellect and insight to go with it. I feed off of all my experiences, music-wise.” For now, T.I. continues to work on King Uncaged, slated for a late-summer release. He’s spent some time working with The-Dream for his album and for the singer’s next project. The-Dream told MTV News in April that Tip’s new material is impressive. “Tip is in a zone, man,” the singer said. “He’s in one of those things. But me just being a lyric guy, what makes songs, I think, hits is when it comes from the heart and you really are saying something you mean. He added in an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno : My mum was beginning to wonder if I would ever become married unless it was in some kind of perhaps, Mormon style group wedding, to perhaps a group of cheerleaders. We went back to England to my mum’s house in Essex. She was very well behaved and helped with the dishes. There was a bit where my mum spilt some gravy and I thought, ‘That’s good isn’t it? Normal down to earth conduct.’

We guess this is an example of your “art,” too, right, Miley Cyrus? A day after the singer said her raunchy antics were artistic, and lashed out at critics for just not getting it , she performed “Can’t Be Tamed” on Britain’s Got Talent and took the desperate, wholly unoriginal step of making out with a dancer in order to prove her edginess. First base is reached around the 1:15 mark below: Making Out Miley There’s little that can even be said about Miley’s transparent actions at this point. It’s fine for her to move beyond the Disney phase of her career, but there’s something to be said for subtlety and creativity. Dressing in skimpy outfits, singing about how hot you are and kissing back-up dancers has been done by everyone from Christina Aguilera to Britney Spears. It’s especially galling when Cyrus claims her songs and her style aren’t representative of typical, shallow pop music . That’s simply laughable. At least when Adam Lambert crossed a line at the 2009 AMAs, he came out and admitted it soon afterwards. Will Miley do the same? We somehow doubt it.

The opportunities that have come from American Idol are amazing. On current musical influences : I love a lot of the electronica stuff from the UK – Ive been gravitating toward that lately. I had my moment when I was all about the classic rock years back, but lately it’s more about pop-electro stuff. I love Goldfrapp, La Roux. And all of the American pop divas, of course: Gaga, Christina, Madonna, Rihanna. I love all of them. On the reception he’s received : At first I didn’t know if the gay community was really into this or not, what I’m doing. And then slowly but surely I was traveling internationally and domestically and met a lot of gay men and women who were really excited about what’s going on with my record and what I’m doing, and it feels really nice for my community to acknowledge it. Lambert was then asked if he’d rather sleep with Ryan Seacrest or Simon Cowell, a hilarious question. His response: Ew. Neither one of them is my type at all. They’re both too old for me.
