Many people were unaware that Stacey Dash was married, but millions learned that she was single after it was reported yesterday (September 30th) that her divorce was finalized. Now that she’s not married, Stacey Dash can really focus on her career, which may be good a idea since she lost a really good part. Getting the lead role in “ Single Ladies ” was such a great look for Stacey Dash ! The show debuted to over 2 million viewers and its stars are regulars on numerous blogs. When it was revealed last month that Stacey Dash would not be returning for season two , many wondered who would replace her . According to imdb.com , Dash has two post-”Single Ladies” projects in the works: “House Arrest” (completed) and “Dysfunctional Friends” (post-production). The first project is a drama starring Dash and co-starring Game, and it’s scheduled to be released this year. She’s also the star of her second project “Dysfunctional Friends,” and will appear alongside Meagan Good , Tatyana Ali , Terrell Owens , Hosea Chanchez and Persia White. So despite losing her role on “Single Ladies,” it looks like Stacey Dash is going to be alright! Nancy Upton is responsible for getting American Apparel’s panties in a bunch! The Los Angeles based retailer has been scrutinized before, after a racist rant about which black models should be hired during a casting call: “none of the trashy kind that come in, we don’t want that. we’re not trying to sell our clothes to them. try to find some of these classy black girls, with nice hair, you know?” A woman recounted her experience: “i will remember that forever, especially the “nice hair” part. he was instructing another manager and i on who to look for during an upcoming open call, and i sat there dumbfounded, listening to him speak while the other manager made “uh huh, got it” sounds on her end of the phone. the other manager on the call with me later became a district manager, and at one point instructed me to tell two of my employees (both of whom happened to be black females) to stop straightening their hair. i refused to do this, but wondered if the mentality behind her request was related to what dov had said.” American Apparel in an attempt to cleanse their tarnished image, formed a contest for “booty-ful” girls where the women were “encouraged to post pictures of themselves on the retailer’s website in a chance to become the new face of American Apparel’s plus-size line.” Nancy Upton sent in this photo along with others! Well she won and American Apparel rewarded her with this message: “My name is Iris Alonzo and I am a Creative Director at American Apparel. Along with four other women, I conceived of the Next BIG Thing campaign for American Apparel. Firstly, we are very sorry that we offended you. We recently reported that Deion Sanders filed for divorce from his wife Pilar Sanders this morning. You know we had to reach out to Pilar to get her side of the story. Tragic clip tugs at heartstrings with depictions of abuse, molestation and prostitution. By Rob Markman Lil Wayne Photo: Getty Images If fans already thought that Lil Wayne put his emotions on display on “How to Love,” off Tha Carter IV, wait until they get a load of the video, which premieres online on Wednesday (August 24). The Chris Robinson-directed clip is filled with drama and social commentary, telling the story of a beautiful young woman who stumbles into every imaginable pitfall. The video opens in an abortion clinic, where a woman lies in a gown on the operating table. Suddenly she changes her mind and flies off the table and through the clinic’s hall, choosing to keep her child. Shortly after that, the song’s acoustic guitar licks drop in and we see a shirtless Wayne alone in a dimly lit hallway, singing, “You had a lot of crooks try to steal your heart, never really had luck, could never figure out how to love.” It is then that the distressed woman’s story begins to unspool. We first see her being abused by her boyfriend, thrown to the ground in her bedroom while her infant, sitting in a car seat nearby, cries. Fast-forward a few years later, and the mother is in a prison visiting room, talking to her incarcerated boyfriend through a glass panel while her daughter, now a toddler, sits in her lap. “How to Love” producer Detail warned that the single’s video would “shock” us. A boyfriend in prison is just the tip of the iceberg. Things get disturbing in a flashback scene that reveals the woman was molested as a child. The scene starts just as Tunechi belts out, “When you were just a youngin, your looks were so precious.” Cash Money and company clearly pulled no punches. We see the pre-teen sitting in pigtails as her father (or father figure) approaches her unfastening his belt, putting his fingers to his lips, messaging for her to keep quiet as she tries to fight him off. In the following sequences, it is hinted that she eventually gave birth to her molester’s baby. The message is deep, and in the video Wayne plays second fiddle, not letting his performance shots get in the way of Robinson’s story-telling. Together they illustrate a domino effect. Forget going from bad to worse: During the course of the five-minute clip things go from tragic to abysmal. The young woman’s eventual career as a stripper begets prostitution, and it is her life as a prostitute that ultimately leads to a death sentence. At approximately the three-minute mark the music cuts out and we see the principal character in a doctor’s office similar to the one shown in the first scene, only this time she isn’t able to run from the results. “Your blood results came back positive,” the doctor tells her. When she asks, “Positive for what?,” he replies, “HIV.” Maybe the message is dramatically overdone, but with the clip Wayne — who will be performing at the Video Music Awards and dropping his album at midnight afterwards — sparks discussion much like TLC did with their cautionary 1995 video for “Waterfalls.” There is hope, however; in a rewind sequence the victim’s life is redone. In an alternate reality, the abuse that she faced is erased. There is no molestation, no beatings, no prison visits, stripping or exchanging sex for money. Instead she graduates high school, is married in a church and winds up in the same doctor’s office, this time finding out that she is pregnant. She reacts with a joyous sigh, turns to her mother and says, “Thank you, just thank you for being there for me and teaching me how to love.” It wasn’t just the guitar strings that Weezy plucked at with this single; he was clearly tugging at the heartstrings as well. The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Love is in the air this season: CaCee Cobb and Scrubs star Donald Faison shared their good news on Twitter this weekend. Faison, 37, coyly posted a lyric from Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,” on Friday. “If you like it, then you better put a ring on it,” he tweeted. An hour later, Cobb retweeted her beau, adding: “If she likes it, then she better say YES! Simpson, who’s engaged to Eric Johnson, was thrilled for her pal and former personal assistant. “Congratulations, Cacee!” she tweeted Saturday, linking to a photo of Cobb showing off her bling. “I love you and your man!” Not to be outdone, Faison’s good friend and former Scrubs costar Zach Braff chimed in with his own well wishes. “Congratulations to Donald and CaCee on their engagement,” he tweeted. “Just wish I was there to run around you both with sparklers.” Faison has three children with ex-wife Lisa Askey, and one son from a previous relationship.
